We don’t need to wait much, because they are back with another strange allegation. No prize for guessing that there soft target is yet again Shah Rukh Khan. This time around they have problem with his plush mansion which he lovingly named ‘Mannat’. They are alleging that SRK’s present home is actually a heritage bungalow, which he purchased against a whopping amount of money. It was named ‘Villa Vienna’ before SRK owned it. They say that they don’t have any problem with SRK’s property. But they have problem the ‘change of name’. They are saying that by changing ‘Villa Vienna’ to ‘Mannat’, he has done a highly objectionable thing because he is trying to ‘destroy’ a national heritage. Sena group leader Subhash Desai was speaking in the Legislative Assembly, where he said that one of their prime objectives is to save Mumbai’s heritage. “Functioning of the Heritage committee needs to be probed. It should be in the know of everything related to heritage structures in the city. It’s okay that Shah Rukh purchased the heritage bungalow. But, he even changed its name to Mannat. This is highly objectionable,” Desai said. Well, frankly speaking, it’s not okay. If it was a national heritage building then why it was sold to a person for his personal use? Well. I guess SRK doesn’t know how to preserve and protect a heritage building. Of course, he is not an architect. Moreover, even if they sold it, then also why didn’t the government make SRK sign a contract regarding the maintenance of the building, with a series of Dos and Don’ts? If a person buys a property, then it is his by all means, unless he is under a contract. Obviously, he has, ‘at least’, the right to rename his property. Mr. Desai didn’t stop with that and he asked for a probe to see what other changes he has made to the building. “We need to know if the heritage committee was informed of the changes.” As far as we knew, Shiv Sena always wanted to change the English names into Marathi. [23 Apr 2010] Shah Rukh Khan, the badshah of bollywood who co-owns Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team of Indian Premier League (IPL) with Juhi Chawla’s husband Jay Mehta, seems to be heading towards more trouble as income tax officials have discovered documents revealing that fifty lakh shares of the team were in the name of Sea Island Investment Pvt Ltd. The strangest part of the story is that neither King Khan nor Gauri Khan or for that matter even Jay Mehta was director in this company. In fact, the company itself has not been incorporated in India and now income tax department is working on the theory of it being proxy from Mauritius or some other country for some powerful man in India. A dominant theory doing the rounds is that the company might be protecting or overseeing the personal interest of powerful IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi or someone of the same stature in the cricket establishment in India. The grapevine was already abuzz that Lalit Modi might have some personal interest in three IPL franchises—KKR of Shah Rukh, Preity Zinta’s Kings XI of Punjab and Shilpa Shetty’s Rajasthan Royals team. For Shah Rukh Khan, the whole IPL financial drama being uncovered by Income tax officials is doubly painful as his KKR team has already lost the tournament and is placed at number 6 position. Taani: click here New Delhi: The unravelling of the alleged underhand deals behind IPL by government agencies might claim a collateral image in the form of a crackdown on Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s eight-year old film production company, Red Chillies Entertainment. The registrar of companies (RoC), Mumbai has found that the company, which owns 55% stake in IPL franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders, has not been duly filing the annual returns with RoC as required under the Companies Act. The RoC, Mumbai has also found Jaipur IPL Cricket, owners of Rajasthan Royals of flouting the requirement of filing annual returns. Both the firms have now been served showcause notices. Sources told FE that the RoC has warned that if the directors of the companies do not respond within a fortnight with satisfactory explanation, criminal proceedings would be initiated against them. Despite repeated attempts Shah Rukh Khan could not be contacted for comments. The revelations came to light when the RoC sought ownership and other such details from all the IPL franchise in the aftermath of the Lalit Modi-Shashi Tharoor spat over the sweat equity allotted to Tharoor’s friend Sunanda Pushkar in the Kochi IPL team. The other promoters of Knight Riders Sports named by the RoC include Jay Mehta and Sanjiv Chawla, husband and brother of bollywood actor Juhi Chawla, respectively. The Jaipur IPL Cricket has been charged for not filing annual returns for the year ended September 2009. In the report, RoC has named two directors of the company—Raghuram Natrajan Iyer and Ranjit Rabindranath Barthukar. Following the resignation of minister of state for external affairs Shashi Tharoor, the corporate affairs ministry started a due diligence process into the matter. Last week the RoC had written to all the 10 IPL teams, including the new IPL franchisees of Kochi and Pune, seeking details of their team ownership, sweat equity and last three years’ balance sheets. “We are awaiting responses from the other regional RoCs to send us their observations on the findings,” a ministry source said. He added that so far the responses by the IPL teams have been far from satisfactory. RoC had sent letters to KKR, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Kochi, Pune, Kings Eleven Punjab, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Deccan Chargers, Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils. 4837464: Maya-srk ну да, рассказывают, что это из сцен, не вошедших в MNIK, и показывают их заодно. в контексте быстрого клевка смотрится не так противно, как на фотке, конечно. Каджол при этом укатывается в общем, очередная сбыча карановских мечт - и в платье Шарика нарядил, и целоваться заставил.

Maya-srk: Living with superstar Посмотрела я несколько частей этого фильма. Конечно , я была шокирована...Шах настолько прост здесь, что все, что о нем пишут в газетах,кажется таким мелочным. Я увидела в этом фильме Шаха-отца, который с необычайной нежностью и любовью рассказывает о своих детях, играет с ними в футбол, любит их...учит быть добрыми и терпимыми по отношению к другим людям. Шах-муж, обожающий свою жену, Шах-друг...у него нет друзей-мужчин, он не ходит стрелять и пить пиво...он встречается с друзьями жены...вместе с ними обедает в ресторане. Он не привередлив в еде...кушает любую пищу, какую подадут. Шах-актер...он любит свою работу , наслаждается ею, делает свою роль досканально изучив. А еще он любит крикет и очень переживает за проигрыши своей команды. А еще...Шах безмерно красив...пусть мои слова покажутся кому-нибудь слишкой елейными, но я не отрицаю красоту Шаха, его харизму и все, что с этим связано.

Soniya: Maya-srk : завяли веники... прошу имя веника не поминать всуе мне фильм тоже понравился. и шарик понравился. единственное - я не до конца уверена, что это сам Шарик, а не очередная роль играемая им. просто с высоты моего жизненного опыта мне трудно поверить что такой вот простой рубаха-парень добился всего этого. такого простачка там прожевали и выплюнули бы в три счета. имхо глубочайшее

Нет...ну это понятно...я тоже не первый день живу на свете...без чьей либо помощи вряд ли кто мог добиться этакой высоты...Но...история об этом умалчивает. А Шах никогда не скажет...приходится нам самим додумываться. Но фильм все же стоит посмотреть.

Maya-srk: May 14 - 16, 2010 Bollywood Does America My Name is Khan ... and I am Not a Terrorist! By CHARLES R. LARSON I missed this important Bollywood movie when it was released commercially in the United States in a PG-13 version in February. Unfortunately, it didn’t stay around long enough for many people to see it. Fox Searchlight, the American distributor, must have believed they had another Slumdog Millionaire, but the movie failed with American viewers no doubt because of its depiction of racism in the United States in the aftermath of 9/11—especially, the violent acts against Muslims or perceived Muslims by mainstream Americans. Too bad, because My Name Is Khan is every bit as uplifting as Slumdog, but Americans have never been good at trying to understand their racism. The film is flawed, yes, because it attempts to do too much, but its strengths far outweigh its weaknesses—notably its unflinching look at America through non-Western eyes and the quite dazzling acting by Shah Rukh Khan, a huge Bollywood attraction, who many people have thought is not much of an actor. In My Name Is Khan, he plays a man with Aspergers Syndrome, and the result is more than convincing, major acting by any standards. If this were an American film, he’d be up for an Academy Award next year, but that’s not likely to happen because, well, again our ethnocentrism. My knowledge of Aspergers Syndrome is too limited to know if all of Khan’s mannerisms (never looking anyone in the face, difficulty controlling his extremities, repeating phrases ad nauseum, avoiding physical contact with others) are authentic, but Khan, the actor, is so convincing that my wife assumed that the film was not fiction but the documentary account of a real person suffering from Aspergers’. Shah Rukh Khan has two or three incredible scenes in the film when you’ll find it difficult not to be all choked up. And the rest of the time he is so believable that he clearly steals the entire movie, becoming in the process a soul brother of Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump (there are other similarities between the movies also—especially their scope.) Putting events in chronological order, there’s a scene when Rizvan Khan (six or seven years old), his mother, and his older brother witness an attack on Muslims, in a retaliation riot by Hindus. Rizvan’s mother tells him that there are only two kinds of people in the world—not Hindus and Muslims—but good and bad. Some years later, the young boy’s older brother leaves for America, and after the passage of additional years when Rizvan is an adult, he too goes to the United States because his mother has died. Rizvan begins selling beauty products for his brother, who has become a successful entrepreneur. One day, Rizvan meets a young Indian woman, a Hindu named Mandira, who is divorced and has an eight-year-old son named Sam. Their courtship is complicated but eventually they marry (to the consternation of Rizvan’s older brother who henceforth has nothing to do with him because he’s married a Hindu). Eventually, Rizvan closely bonds to Mandira’s son. Then 9/11. In the ugly aftermath, Sam is killed by young schoolboys because of his last name: Khan. The marriage abruptly ends because of the boy’s death, but Rizvan leaves on a quest because in her anger Mandira screams at him to tell the President of the United States that just because someone has the name Khan, that person is not a terrorist. Thus begins Khan’s quest to meet with President Bush, a search somewhat like Forrest Gump’s trek across the United States. Khan knows that he can’t simply show up at the White House and expect to be admitted for a meeting with George Bush so, instead, he tracks the President’s speaking engagements throughout the country and prays that he’ll gain admission to one of them and deliver the message—not only that he himself is not a terrorist but that his son was murdered because of the name “Khan.” There are a number of ugly incidents that follow because of the search but, also, a final love affair with America. What is so memorable about My Name Is Khan is not simply director Karan Johar and his co-author Shibani Bathija’s decision to make a Bollywood movie set mostly in the United States but the choices of the settings. There’s a tense scene after Khan first arrives in the United States, in San Francisco, when he’s paralyzed by an approaching trolley because the grids on the pedestrian crossing are painted with yellow stripes and the trolley is also yellow, a color we have learned earlier that terrifies Khan. There he is trapped between yellow stripes as the trolley heads directly towards him. The scene is one of many tense, but humorous scenes in a movie that veers seamlessly back and forth from the tragic to the comic. Another powerful incident comes at the end of Khan’s bonding with another boy, after Sam’s death. He carries a black boy home to his family after the child is injured and subsequently stays with the family in Georgia for some time as a sense of mutual respect develops between the two. At the end of this interlude, Khan stands up in the boy’s church and narrates the story of his life, including the loss of Sam and his wife, Mandira. It is one of several powerful moments when Khan—often inarticulate—discovers his voice. How can you see My Name Is Khan? A week ago, the film was re-released in New York City in an unrated version called “The International Director’s Cut.” You might also go to an Indian grocery store and purchase or rent the film. The only trouble with the imported DVD is that not all of the dialogue has been translated into subtitles. Or you can wait a little longer until the American DVD is released, presumably with all the spoken lines in the subtitles. But don’t miss this Bollywood take on America—with a fabulous soundtrack--or you’ll miss one of the great roles of recent cinema: Shah Rukh Khan as Rizvan Khan.
