Confirming this rather surprising development, the Big B, now shooting in Kolkata for Rituparno Ghosh's The Last Lear, explains, "Yes, we've to shift the proposed concert to next year because of Abhishek and Aishwarya's wedding. They've a jam-packed schedule this year. With the wedding also happening it would be impossible for them to leave for two months. We've to give them time to finish their other commitments. This year they don't even have time for any rehearsals. That apart, the concert-tour plans remains unchanged. It's still the three of us, plus a lot of our colleagues." Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra are some of the other stars who would be accompanying the Bachchans for the world tour which is being designed as the most spectacular staged event from the Mumbai film industry of all times. Laughs the Big B, "I don't know about that. But we'll certainly work towards making it a memorable experience. Right now we all have other things to worry about, including the wedding." Fresh dates for the Ash-Abhishek continue to be announced every week. Says the Big B, "We don't know where these dates come from. Media-persons, astrologers and numerologists seem to know more about our plans than we do. As far as we are concerned we still haven't zeroed -in on a date for the wedding. Very reliable sources tell us that Abhishek doesn't want to work with Kareena, even today. And that he dug in his heels and made his stance very clear to director Tarun Mansukhani when Tarun planned a cast of Abhishek, Kareena and Saif Ali Khan for his next, the yet untitled film he's making for producer Karan Johar. "The result was pretty simple. Kareena was quietly removed from the picture and Abhishek's fiancЁ¦e Aishwarya Rai was pencilled into the cast. The problem was solved immediately and all was well," says our source. Incidentally, this is not the first time that Abhishek has tried to avoid sharing screen space with Kareena. A couple of years ago too, during the making of Mani Ratnam's Yuva, Abhishek had requested that he be spared from being paired with Kareena. It was Ash's mother Brinda Rai's wish that the Bachchan men wear clothes by Datta, India's "only woman designer" who dresses up "only men" in traditional attires. "I've despatched about 30 pieces of classical Indian dresses for the marriage after Brinda Rai said that I should design the clothes for Abhishek and the menfolk of the Bachchan family. I have reasons to hope that Amitabh Bachchan would also wear my collection on the day," Datta told IANS in an exclusive interview. "They are various cuts and styles in maroon, off-white, electric blue and rust which I have used keeping in mind the 6ft 3in height and medium complexion of Abhishek," said Datta who for decades has reigned supreme in the men's fashion world, weaving magic on otherwise bland pieces of kurtas and achkans. "Brinda Rai had met me way back in 2003 when Aishwarya was shooting for Rituparno Ghosh's "Chokher Bali" in Kolkata and bought two shawls for Ash. Now she came back to me for the Ash-Abhishek's wedding. It is a nice feeling considering that I'm not into the ramp circuit and the occasion is one that every designer would have loved to be a part of," said Datta who brought a gust of sartorial freshness to the orthodox world of male fashion a decade before the word "metrosexual" was coined. Sharbari is a designer who gate crashed to only dress up men in ethnic chic and herald the re-arrival of designer kurtas and coloured dhotis in a throwback to the rich old sartorial traditions of the country. From Jagjit Singh, Vijay Mallya and Russi Modi to Leander Paes, Kapil Dev, Imran Khan, M.F. Hussain, Baichung Bhutia and Sourav Ganguly - none could resist the elegantly intricate designs by Datta. "I am not divulging every detail of the attires because there should be an element of surprise that all brides and bridegrooms love to unveil," said Datta. "I have only avoided using black because that is not considered auspicious for Indian functions," Datta added. "I can dress up Abhishek and not Ash because you know I only design for men. But from what I have heard, the bride would be wearing a benarasi sari. They have bought a large number of saris from Varanasi," said the designer. Sharbari Datta is the daughter of celebrated Bengali poet Ajit Datta. She grew up to the rhythms of poetry on the one hand and dance and music on the other, imbibing the essence of culture deeply. She did her graduation from Presidency College and took her Master's Degree in Philosophy from Calcutta University. Yet, arts remained an enduring love. "It was a bleak world of stripes and checks that I gate crashed into. A drab world, where the most daring sartorial adventure man could imagine was a silk tie that has, over the years, managed to shift from diagonal bands to paisleys and floral motifs. Or a dhoti with a border and a kurta with modest embroidery at the neck and shoulders," recalled Sharbari. "The traditional cuts and styles that you have seen in period films found a social place in my works. I am a revivalist designer. When I started it was a new concept. They said it was effeminate but I changed all those notions," said the designer proudly. For, what started off as an album with Abhishek humming hip-hop songs soon had a couple of tracks also featuring his father, Big B. And the latest member to join the bandwagon is none other than the Bachchan bahu-to-be Aishwarya Rai. So how did this come to be? Well, Ash accompanied her fiancЁ¦ to the recording studio, where she belted out some lines impromptu. What she sang, the composer duo liked! So they've decided to retain the lines sung by Ash in the album, provided she agrees, of course. But why would she not agree, considering she gets to duet with her beloved? When questioned on this latest coup, Vishal enthusiastically said, "The format and the scope of the album is getting crazier by the day! We've written a song for both the Bachchans. It would be awesome to have them sing together. It would also be India's first hip-hop album. The success of Right Here Right Now made us realise that there is indeed a market for hip-hop albums. The album's focus is Abhishek." Well, right here right now, a singer is being born ЎЄ that's for sure. The musical duo are known to develop a keen rapport with those they work with. "Fortunately, we work with directors who are friends. They let us know exactly where we're going right or wrong. We've had Siddharth Anand standing and dancing with us when we created the songs of Ta Ra Rum Pum." Vishal-Shekhar have got innumerable requests for another 'Dus bahane'. "But for us there's no point in going back to that sound. Even in Anubhav Sinha's Cash where there're six item songs. None of them sounds like Ў®Dus bahaneЎЇ. That basically worked because of its new sound," says Vishal.
