If Bipasha Basu has kept quiet about the gathering rumours in her personal life, it's because she didn't want to react to what were clearly vicious attempts to cause a breach in her relationship with John. Bipasha has taken a conscious decision to remain characteristically dignified and uncharacteristically quiet. She says, "I was shooting outside Mumbai. And it was so peaceful and nourishing to breathe in unpolluted air… I told my best friend Susie, I'd rather not come back. But there's no point in pretending the ugly talk isn't there. John spoke on behalf of both of us yesterday. I'm hoping it would stop this crazy chaos of idle gossip. I'm really tired of all this. It doesn't effect either of us, or our relationship. But I'm tired of being scrutinised all the time." Bipasha has decided she won't react to any of the things being written and said about her relationship with John. She says, "It's so foolish and self-defeating to keep reacting to these periodic talks of links and breaks-ups. Today we're being linked with particular people. Tomorrow it'll be someone else. We can't let these things affect us. And we don't. But this time the rumours got really mean. I can take it, even answer back. But John isn't comfortable being attacked." In fact, Bipasha now joins John in Pondicherry where he's shooting for Nagesh Kukunoor's Aashaayen. "Neither of us is going to be unprofessional, leave our work and go running to one another just because people are spreading these strange rumours. Poor John, he's shooting a very difficult author-backed role. If he suggests he's taking off to meet me, Nagesh will probably have a fit. I too have my professional commitments. I can't just tell Abbas and Mustan to give me a day off from the shooting of Race." Bipasha joins John in Pondicherry on June 27. "And that isn't meant to stop wagging tongues. We don't have to prove anything to anybody. Let them say what they want. I love only John, and no one else," she says.

I don't deny we had a bit of a problem, But in this case the problems weren't so massive as to be written about as the end of our relationship. Sheetal Menon is someone I did an ad with That's all I know of her. I've never been in touch with her since then. I don't want to give this any more importance. Look,I've been linked with every single heroine from my second film onwards. Sheetal Menon is just one in the long line of link-ups. People will take advantage of these imagined link-ups and try to break up my relationship with the one woman that I love. Yesterday it was Vidya Balan. Today it's Sheetal Menon. Tomorrow it'll be someone else. But this lady seems to have upset Bipasha more than your other link-ups. Bipasha is too clear-headed to believe all this. Reportedly, John Abraham is extremely upset and embarrassed after he saw pictures of Bipasha kissing the 22-year-old star, on the Internet. Both of them were co-hosts for announcing the New Seven Wonders of the World that took place on last Saturday evening in Cristiano's home country Portugal. John has been shooting in Pondicherry for Nagesh Kukunoor's Aashayein and had been very supportive of Bipasha when there were constant reports of their relationship hitting troubled waters. He even dismissed rumours and announced that both of them are very much together and he has intentions of getting married to her. However, the latest kissing controversy has taken its toll on John and he has gone completely quite after the Bipasha- Cristiano pictures were splashed all over. A source on the sets of Aashayein at Kailash Beach Resort near Pondicherry says, "John was pretty cool and mingling with everyone on the sets till the day before evening. However, he came to know about this entire episode only after he returned to his room after pack-up. When John started surfing the Net, he was shocked to see pictures of Bipasha splashed everywhere. Obviously, Bipasha had not informed him about this whole episode. John seemed very upset and what added to his misery was that everyone knew about the episode." John was very embarrassed to face anyone from the unit and preferred to be alone after he learnt about the controversy. He spent the whole day in his room. "Even yesterday he only came out of his make-up room when he was called for the shot. He shot for the film, but it was very clear that he was very embarrassed. It is still very unclear whether he had spoken to Bipasha after this news had come out," adds the source. "It was very sad to see an otherwise cheerful and warm John looking completely down and out. It is quite obvious that he is upset and shocked. However, being the professional that he is, he hasn't thrown any tantrums," says the source. The actor, who is filming for Nagesh Kukunoor's Aashayein, has been sweet-talking Bipasha, trying to persuade her to come down to Pondicherry for a short holiday. Recently, the actress was also offered a cameo in Kumar Mangat's latest production, One, Two, Three, which is again being shot in Pondicherry. But the actress turned it down, citing date problems. Sources indicate that more than anything else, Bips desperately wanted to avoid John, who expected, and wanted, her to do the film. Adds a source from Kumar Mangat's production house, "We wanted Bipasha to play a Jat cop in the film. The schedule demanded her to film in Pondicherry for 20 days. We were hopeful that she would accept the offer, as John is around in Pondicherry too. But she gave some excuses and begged out of the film." John, seemingly, was disappointed when Bipasha refused to do the film. Sources close to John inform that he's going through a low phase. "He wants to work on his relationship with Bipasha. "Though we've done songs before, John and I have never done this kind of sizzling number before. Vishal has pulled out all stops in the composition." Bipasha is sure the number will be a rage. "John and I are have fun dancing to it. I love the tune. Shooting it feels really good. Hopefully it'll be another number to bring the house down at my stage concerts."
