It’s no secret that Saif has floated his production house and is planning a two/three movies in the first phase. Sometime back, there was talk that the talented actor had signed Sriram Raghavan, director of Ek Hasina Thi and Johnny Gaddaar, to direct his debut film Agent Vinod. Later, there were whispers that Imtiaz Ali, director of the recent success Jab We Met, had been signed to direct the film. In fact, it was [mis]reported that Imtiaz had stepped into Sriram’s shoes. What’s the truth? Here’s the official statement. “Right now, I am not in the position to confirm anything about my film production plans,” Saif informs me. “I am looking at a couple of scripts. Yes, I am talking to Sriram and Imtiaz for two separate films, but till everything is officially finalised, I wouldn’t like to comment on it.” With Saif clarifying his stand, let’s hope the speculation would stop once and for all. Алёна: Saif Ali Khan jumps off a 22-storey building for RACE! Saif Ali Khan has done all the action sequences himself in Abbas-Mustaan's thriller Race. One of the most daring stunt scenes was when Saif jumped off a 22-storey high-rise in Durban not once but thrice! Talking about the stunts, Saif Ali Khan who is currently shooting in Bangkok for a Yash Raj film says, “Yes, I did the stunts in Race myself. Things are pretty safe nowadays but a cable can always snap, so jumping off serious heights is a bit worrying but that's the challenge and fun, I suppose. It's not the first time I am attempting a stunt myself. I have done stunts before on my own but this is the first time I did it with cables and slightly high-tech stuff so it was good fun.” Wasn't he ever scared at doing such a stunt for the first time? “I think I was scared a little every time but that was the challenge,” says the brave Leo. Producer Ramesh Taurani from Tips says, “When Saif insisted on doing all the stunts himself initially, I was quite scared. So I was present on the sets during the shooting whenever he would shoot stunts so that no mishap occurred. I personally checked the cables and everything else as I was very worried. Saif had to fall from the terrace of a 22-floor building and it was a long jump. Race is an action thriller and the story of two brothers (Saif and Akshaye Khanna). Its much bigger and better than any film Tips has produced.” Director Mustaan from duo Abbas-Mustaan adds, “Action director Allan Amin, Saif, Rameshji and we had discussed the stunt sequence in Mumbai. In the beginning, we were all a bit apprehensive, as Saif has never jumped off a high rise before. So Saif said we will try. He was game. It's always better to do your stunts yourself as then we can shoot some great close ups. Audiences today know when we are using a body double. Only long shots are possible with doubles. In Race, because Saif was doing the stunts himself we have some great action shots. When we reached the high-rise everyone except Saif was scared. He was brave. Then Allan showed him how to do it using a stuntman of his. He showed Saif and us it was safe, only then were we reassured. Allan used his winching machine to control the wind so Saif wouldn't go on the side. There were four cameras for the shot. It took a full day to shoot.” Mustaan says, “The jumping off the building was not the only stunt Saif did. After his first jump, Saif wasn't satisfied so he did it two more times till he thought it was perfect. Saif also done an action sequence in air balloons at a height of 400 ft. The glamorous couple will dance at the wedding ceremony of diamond merchant Arnav Mehta on November 25, at a suburban 7-star hotel. Kareena is likely to anchor the show as well,” she says. When asked if Saif and Kareena have been asked to perform at the shaadi because they are the most talked-about couple in recent times, Pinky says, “I don't think it's that way. The thing is that Kareena's Jab We Met is a big hit. Plus, Kareena and Saif have always been stars. Both are also good actors and performers.” According to Priyanka, a Bollywood night has been organised for the evening. “Many American guests are also expected. The function starts from morning. A lot many performances have been arranged for the entire day. The Bollywood night is slated for late evening,” Priyanka added. I want audiences on my own terms: Sriram Raghavan Although his two suspense thrillers - Ek Hasina Thi and Johnny Gaddaar - were hugely appreciated by critics, the box office response was not too overwhelming. But Sriram Raghavan refuses to do a formula film to attract audiences. Excerpts: Your next film stars Saif Ali Khan. No, before that there's a film with John Abraham. Only then comes Agent Vinod with Saif, which my brother Sridhar Raghavan is co-writing with me. If people find the title funny, the very first scene will dispel their amusement because it's a spy thriller in a very realistic mould. It's not one of those fantasy espionage thrillers - not like Call Agent Vinod and we cut to Saif in bed( ), nothing like that. It's not James Bond either. It is more in the mood of a Frederick Forsythe than a James Hadley Chase. It's a strangely corny title. Saif liked the title Agent Vinod and so did I. A lot of people had told me Johnny Gaddar sounded like a B-grade thriller. But even a hardcore commercial producer like Keshu Ramsay liked it. Agent Viinod will be made in the middle of 2008. Though he wanted to be a conventional leading man, Neil grabbed the chance to play this cold-blooded killer. In Johnny Gaddaar, you've used an eclectic mix of songs from the 1960s and 1970s. Yes, in fact the influence of the Hindi films from that era is very strong on me. I grew up on them. I still remember the snazzy credit titles for Ravi Nagaich's The Train. I've used that style in the credits of Johnny Gaddaar. Songs like Rama rama ghazab and Bachke kahan jaoge fitted in very well with the narrative. And these were the songs and films I grew up with. My editor Pooja Surti helped me pick those songs. She has even sung Mora gora ang liai le from Bandini. I wanted to include Bachke kahan jaoge in my CD. It's from Yakeen where Dharamendraji played a negative role but the copyright was too expensive. There are so many influences in Johnny Gaddaar. I had the script with me from before my first film Ek Hasina Thi. I wanted to make it with unknown actors. But I didn't get a producer. I met my leading man Neil Mukesh Mathur in Jhamu Sugandh's office. He has a common secretary with Hrithik. And I had gone to meet Jhamuji for a film with Hrithik. He gave me the portfolio. I sounded off the idea of Johnny Gaddaar to him. He loved it. отсюда

We all know about Saif’s plans of turning producer and beginning his own production house. The actor has already finalized a project titled ‘Agent Vinod’, to be directed by Sriram Raghavan next year. In all likelihood, the film will star Saif’s latest flame Kareena Kapoor . But now, rumours have it that Saif is eager to start another film before ‘Agent Vinod’. The actor has reportedly been impressed by director Imtiaz Ali ’s work in Jab We Met and has been discussing several scripts with him. And Deepika Padukone, who has had her dream debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om , is under consideration for the lead role in the film. Saif says the cast of the film will be announced once the script is ready. On a different film, Deepika is all set to do a film with Akshay Kumar . Kapoor said in an interview published Tuesday in The Times of India newspaper that work was her focus right now and marriage to her boyfriend and well-known actor Saif Ali Khan was a long way off. ``They are two different compartments,'' she said. She has dreamed of marriage and children like most women, but said: ``At this point I am too young to think about it. We will take each year as it comes, not each day as it comes.''
