wichy: отсюда - мнение Шаха на современные фильмы и возможные пути выхода индийского кино на международные экраны :) King Khan Shahrukh feels that it is time to adapt ourselves to the world situation and cut our films down to size: at least in terms of duration. Shahrukh, who was here to participate in an 'In conversation with Karan Johar' slot in the two-day Hindustan Times Leadership Summit on 'Imagine the India that Can Be', said it may be difficult to cut down Indian films to 90 minutes as in the rest of the world, but they could certainly be reduced from the present 150 - 180 minutes. He said this was also in keeping with the changing trends of seeing films in multiplexes, which could hold more shows in one day. 'Brevity has to be the soul of creation if we have to go international', he said. Addressing a press meet along with Karan Johar, Shahrukh said that screenplay-writing was being treated as a science all over the world except India, where it was still seen as art. Filmmakers treated the audiences in the same manner as three or four decades earlier, whereas viewers were much sharper now and screenplays could be crisper. It was important that filmmakers gave due respect to viewers. There was also need to 'marry technology with technique or get the right kind of manpower for handing the modern technologies available, he added. He also stressed the need for aggressive marketing at international film festivals, adding that a film short listed for the Oscars needed full support despite the controversies that surrounded every selection. 'Controversies are good, because they show there is a lot of diversity in our cinema, but once a film is selected, we should back it up.' He also felt films should now start concentrating on more positive aspects of the country and not merely on the negative or regressive aspects. The country is moving forward and there is much to celebrate, and therefore the films should be celebratory in nature. The main aim of a film is to entertain. But it is good if it is positive. He said CHAK DE was not about either hockey or against cricket. It was first and foremost a film about women empowerment and any sport would have been fine for the theme. Asked if he would ever join politics as many of his peers had done, he said 'politics is like a job. One should have the state of mind for it.' He said those of the film industry who had gone into politics must have had public life somewhere in the back of their minds. However, he said he may decide to diversify to direction or other fields in cinema. He said he would like to make action comic films and added, 'we have space for that kind of film'. Answering a question, he said he had always acted in films of which he liked the story-lines and did not care who made them, but he said almost all the newcomers with whom he had done films became big filmmakers afterwards. 'I cater to what the people would like to see. I am not the master of my own destiny,' he added. Asked why he had gone for a trimmer look, he said his own nine-year old son talked of his paunch and of the fact that other heroes had muscles. He therefore realized there may be other nine-year olds in the audience who may be feeling the same way. On the release of OM SHANTI OM clashing with the release of SAAWAARIYA, he said 'you can come from the United States, but you cannot beat the Indians in entertainment.' Accepting the greetings of media persons on the occasion of Id, he said he would have a very personal celebration with his family. Karan said brevity was not his strong point and his shortest film had exceeded three hours. He may therefore find it difficult to cut them down to two hours as Shah Rukh had suggested. But he generally agreed that films should be shorter. Interjecting at another point, he said television news channels gave enough of politics, and therefore there was no need to play up politics in cinema as well. At another point, he said CHAK DE was his favourite film of all the releases of the past three or four years.

Adding that films should be formatted to suit international taste, in the same breath, Shah Rukh remarked that Indian films should also have the song-and-dance routines because that was the USP of Indian films. “The time has come to sell the celebration of the country rather than selling sadness. Acting has no language. I have the potential to make cinema from my country for the world to take notice. But the ban on alcohol and cigarette in celluloid is narrow mindedness,” he said at the event. The actor made a special note of mentioning the importance of respecting the media, admitting that he is dependent hugely on them. “All we need to do is not be savvy about the media. I think we just have to respect it and continue genuinely working together and I am dependent a lot on the media as a star, individually.” And what’s Shah Rukh’s net worth? “I am priceless. I don’t have a price. I sell myself for everything. For endorsements, marriages, dances, birthday parties. The only thing I don’t sell myself is for movies that’s something I love doing for free,” Shah Rukh quipped at the event. Admitting that he is extremely competitive, the actor clarified that his competition was very positive. On a lighter vein, Shah Rukh Khan said looks come in the way of his joining politics. “It is commendable that young people are joining politics but I am too good looking and materialistic to join politics,” he said. Focussing on India’s growth and development, Shah Rukh said he would like a more educated India. The superstar also put in a word on the Indo-US nuclear deal that has kept Indian politics on the boil in the past few months. “There is no hurry to push the nuclear deal and even a new US Government can be convinced to go ahead with the Deal,” he said. The biggest newsmakers of the day have gathered under one platform at the summit in the Capital. Later on Saturday, former governor of Florida and brother of US President, Jeb Bush, Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan and singer and activist, Bob Geldof, are scheduled to speak at the event.

Seventies was the era of true-blue masala films. I often say that the term Bollywood, actually comes from the films during that era. OSO and Saawariya are releasing at the same time. Is Saawariya a threat? I have no angst because of Saawariya. Sanjay (Leela Bhansali) has given me a film, which will be remembered even when I am gone. Both Ranbir and Sonam have grown up in front me. Very few people know that I wanted to cast Ranbir in Main Hoon Naa. Does Shah Rukh.. the producer, feel the same? As a producer I’ll not leave any stone unturned to outdo Sony, Columbia, Tristar. If I’m called the King Khan, I better take-on the biggest in the world. When I go to the US, Sony doesn’t release my films. My competition is not against Sanjay or Sonam or Ranbir. It’s the Columbia Tristar, so they better be ready. The year has seen many promising new comers. Who do you think will be your next competitor? (laughs) I have a great body of work behind me and it’s unfair to compare them with me, at such an initial stage. The other day I was telling my wife that now Akshay Kumar is ousting me. Akki and I have been friends for years. Every year, I compete with myself. Every year I give the biggest hits. The biggest hit of the year is Chak De.. and once again I have to beat myself first. wichy: отсюда Shah Rukh Khan and South director Shanker are no longer working together. This means that Shah Rukh will no longer be part of the much-publicised and much-awaited film, Robot. Touted to be a slick, stylised film, Robot had generated a lot of attention from viewers and industrywallahs alike. The film is supposed to go on the floors early next year. Shanker has earlier made only one Hindi film, Nayak with Anil Kapoor and Robot was supposed to go on the floors by early next year. Our sources reveal that owing to creative differences, SRK and Shankar have decided to not work together, and needless to say, it's in the best interest of the film. Shah Rukh says, “Yes, we have called it off. We were not happy with few things, among them being the fact that his take on the film was completely different from mine. We had worked very hard on the film in the last four months and it is sad that we had to call it off. There were certain issues and both Shanker and I decided that we won't make it. It was amicably done and there is no bad blood.” What next for SRK? “I had taken seven months off for Robot but now I am jobless. Even Rajkumar Hirani's film is not happening. Don 2 will on the floors in 2008 end and so I am pretty jobless for the time being. However, I am sure that I will manage to get some work.” What about rumours about him doing Dhoom 3? “I am not doing Dhoom 3. I don't know why people keep on saying that I am doing it. As for Don 2, it will start in 2008 end as Farhan is currently producing 3-4 films and it's their baby, they are the producers, not me.” As for Om Shanti Om (OSO), he says, “I think today films should be made with a little more logic. That's when we decided to make a film about the '70s. That way we could have our dose of songs and dance. You will see lot of dialogue like `Mujhe Bhagwaan ke liye chod do', etc. We also have the dialogue like, `Beta maine tere liye kheer banai hai'.” Шах и южноиндийский режиссер Шанкар (который снял Shivaji) больше вместе не работают - Шах вышел из фантастического проекта Robot. wichy: отсюда - Шах рассказывает про Ом Шанти Ом Om Shanti Om is a film set in a 'film backdrop'… Yes, the much-awaited film is all about the making of films and is set in the '70s. It will portray the film industry of the '70s, the bell bottoms, side locks, flashy, colourful shirts et al. I think the term Bollywood is a coinage of this period as it witnessed the making of the maximum number of classics. I have grown up watching these films. I love Sholay, Amar Akbar Anthony, Zahreela Insaan… and Rishi Kapoor's romantic films. My name in OSM is Omprakash Makhija as my father in the film is a huge fan of Omprakash. Are the characters inspired from any actors of the '70s? No. We have deliberately not spoofed anyone. Everyone has a distinct style and they are all stars of the era. Arjun Rampal is a big star and looks like Vinod Khanna of Khoon Pasina. But he is not a spoof of any actor and neither is Shreyas or Javed Shaikh. After the initial two months of the script, I decided that we will not spoof at all as that will take the emotions away and a love story can't be a love story without emotions. What will be the difference between the '70s and the 2007 film industry in OSM? When the film goes in 2007 you will see a huge difference especially in terms of the media presence. There are things like the Dare-E-Disco song and the heroes coming kate on the sets and changing scenes. There is also a scene where fans are waiting to hear the star's comment and after they see him there are comments like `Yaar yeh to gidda lagta hai' and `real life mein itna handsome nahih hai yaar'. I have heard this on so many occasions that I decided to use it in the film. I believe that you ran through fire in one of the scenes and actually burnt the sets at Film City for your death scene? Yes, but thankfully there was no injury unlike in Koyla where my entire back was burnt. I had done it before but now there are much more security measures. I had poured lot of water on myself before the fire sequence. Fire is a very important element in the film as he dies due to fire and the fear remains even in his next birth. We burnt the whole set that we had created in Film City. I remember when Manmohan Desaisaab had done that in Naseeb he destroyed the entire `Kanch mahal'. It is said that you have already earned Rs 50 crore from Om Shanti Om? That's ridiculous and complete misinformation. I am a little disturbed by this news and I am upset with Farah for speaking about it. I will shout at her after I finish this interview. If I have earned Rs 50 crore from the film already then it means that the film has been sold for Rs 85-90 crore and I am wasting my time speaking to you here. I should be in the Caribbean having wine. I think it is very superficial to say that I have made an X amount of money as an actor. It is for the producer to know how much money the film has made and as an actor I should only know whether the film is a hit or not. If I were honest I would say that Chak De is the most successful film of the year. But these days, actors are being offered Rs 15 to 18 crore for a film… I have never been offered that kind of money and I am not open to anyone who wants to offer me money and not make a film. I do 2-3 films a year and don't want to be a part of the rat race. It is strange to know when I read that the film has made Rs 200 crore. I produce my film for say Rs 10 and sell it for Rs 12 and always make money from it. If I sell it for 15 rupees and the film does not work like in the case of Paheli, I will refund my distributors. That's the reason I have made money in all my films except Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani. Saawaria is releasing along with OSO. Your reaction… It is as simple as my son going for a fight. I am not scared about the opposition but I am just scared about my son. My only concern is that he should do well. I am not scared of any other film as such. I wish that OSO also had a solo release like Chak De but it's okay. I had planned my release in July and although I knew that I wanted a Diwali release, I announced it in July as I sold my film that time and asked my distributors book the theatres. Sanjay was not sure at that time as he was busy with post production. If I knew that time I would had changed my date. It makes no difference to me if my film comes a week ahead or a week later. I would have had loved to release the film on Nov 2, which is also my birthday. Ranbir came and met you on the sets… I have seen Ranbir as a child and like I said Rishi Kapoor is my friend and an integral part of my film. He came on the sets and wanted to speak about his career and Saawariya. He calls me Shah Rukh Sir and all and I wish him all the best. But there has been media war between Farah and Sanjay… Sanjay is my friend and he has given me Devdas, the best film of my career. I don't know about Farah and Sanjay however. Rishi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor are fantastic people. Salman is brilliant and Rani is family. Sonam and Ranbir I have seen growing up. My competition is Sanjay and the stars of the film but Columbia Tristar and I think I am big enough to compete with them. I wish Sony and Columbia them all the best as they have taken a big chance fighting with me. There are reports that you will be working on a thriller with Yash-Raj soon… Not true at all. I think Ittefaq was the last thriller that Yash-Raj made. I wish I can work on a thriller with Yashji and I am trying to convince him right from the time we did Darr to make a murder mystery. There are also reports that you want to remake Deewar… No, I have no intentions of making any remakes. I have done two remakes in Devdas and Don only because both the directors were keen to make them. Don was exciting simply because it had a different ending from the earlier version. I don't think Deewar can be remade because the drama and the writing is dated now. По поводу конкуренции с Савария - Шах еще раз подчеркивает, что он конкурирует не с Санджаем, Ранбиром, Сонам, Сальманом или Рани - а с Сolumbia Tristar, и считает, что он достаточно большая звязда, чтобы с ними конкурировать. Насчет ремейка Deewar - говорит, что это только слухи, и он не думает, что можно сделать ремейк Deewar, поскольку сюжат устарел.

Прия: что можно сказать о шахе? От бесподобный актёр и сексуальный мужчина. ==================== Заранее извеняюсь, но мне кажется, что в фильмах Шахрукх несколько по-иному выглядет чем в жизни. В кино он красив, сексуалет, а в жизни что-то не так. Конечно он просто супер. Но я уже не раз замечаю.

Зачем переносить все из кино в жизнь. Иначе он не был бы индивидуальностью. И то... в его сорок с лишним лет так хорошо выглядеть не каждый сможет.

Сальман вон волосы регулярно пересаживает НАсчёт Акшая- полностью согласна. Я имею ввиду, что Шах так резко похудел, изменился. По моему стал ещё привлекательней. С Сайфом я видела не много фильмов, первый- Kal Hona Ho. Там он произвёл на меня очень хорошее впечатление. А вот насчёт Сальмана незнаю. Сколько ему вообще лет-то?

Теперь вот и Шах к нему присоединяется. А ведь бывали времена, когда Шах и в жизни выглядел - конхветка.. Амир по-моему где-то в том же возрасте.
