отсюда -->> Madhuri Dixit to make a comeback in Bollywood MUMBAI, India (AP) - Former leading lady Madhuri Dixit is planning a Bollywood comeback, the actress said in a newspaper interview, but she gave no details of her plans. Dixit told the Times of India newspaper in an interview published Tuesday that she would play a role in a new film to be produced by her business manager, Rikku Rakeshnath. One of Bollywood's most sought-after stars in the 1990s, Dixit gradually stopped taking on roles after marrying a U.S.-based Indian surgeon in 1999. Her last hit movie, released in 2002, was "Devdas,'' in which she played a courtesan in a saga of doomed love. "If I'm going to be away from my family for my film, it better be worthwhile,'' said Dixit, 39, who has two young sons. Rakeshnath said he would start work on the film soon. "It was on Madhuri's insistence that I decided to start my own production house,'' he said. "Madhuri will be acting in one of the films I plan to start shortly.''- AP В интервью Times of India Мадхури сказала, что сыграет роль в фильме, который будет продюсировать ее бизнес-менеджер, Рикку Ракешнат.

Madhuri to make comeback in Yashraj Films By IndiaFM News Bureau, October 17, 2006 - 07:00 IST The cat is out of the bag. Madhuri is finally making a comeback in films. And come back in a grand style. She is doing a film with India’s premier film production house, Yashraj Films. The film is to be directed to by ace cinematographer Anil Mehta. Apparently, Madhuri loved the script so much that she could not resist the offer to the film. Rumors of her doing Rikku Rakeshnath’s film first have been put to rest by her signing Yashraj’s film. The lead actor of the film is yet to be decided but going by Yashraj’s track record, we can expect a superstar to be signed very soon. The film promises to be an out and out entertainer. The shooting of the film commences in January 2007. Madhuri is expected to come to India very soon. Even though being offered so many films, Madhuri cannot do so many films as she has to take care of here babies who are still very young. Welcome back Madhuri. Режиссером будет известный кинооператор Анил Мехта (снимал Veer Zaara, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Lagaan, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Khamoshi The Musical).

Madhuri Dixit last set hearts afire in Devdas, never to return, many thought. But with kids in tow and with the support of NRI doctor-husband Sriram Nene, Madhuri will now make her comeback in a Yash Raj film, which goes on the floors in January 2007. You are to return in a Yash Raj film project. Why this film? Yes, my comeback film has a bit of everything in it. I felt this would be the right film to do after a long break. I’ve worked with Yash Raj before, and they know me so well. They know I’d never cause unnecessary delays. More importantly, Yash ji has worked wonderfully well with married actresses before. Whether it’s Raakhee ji in Kabhi Kabhie or Waheeda ji , or Kajol in Fanaa , he’s sensitive to the schedules of an actor who’s a wife and a mother. I feel comfortable with them. What was your husband's reaction? He’s fully supportive of whatever I do. He feels that one’s talent shouldn't be suppressed. When I decided not to work and have kids, he was all for it. When I opted to do Devdas , he was still supportive. And now he’s with me all the way. How will you divide time between the US and Mumbai? It will only be one film a year or two, depending on schedules. For now, this seems fun. Are you nervous about taking away from the kids’ time? I’m extremely nervous about that. But there comes a time in a woman’s life when she needs to think of a world outside her home. Many women work and manage a career. My children are the most important part of my life. But they are growing and need to be a little independent. Also, my shooting in India will give the kids a chance to get in touch with their roots. They'll be with my family, they'll meet their cousins. I think they'll have fun. Did you miss films? I don't miss the adulation or the glamour. What I missed was being in front of a camera and assuming various characters. When do you start shooting? Sometime in January 2007, and we’ll be done in 3-4 months. Any apprehensions about how much cinema has changed since you last showed up? I’ve heard the change is for the better. Everyone's more disciplined. That makes things easier for me. I'd be able to work better. To be a part of this phase when so much is happening is itself so challenging.

Madhuri to play theatre actress Dixit to appear in a never-before role in her comeback film Subhash K Jha Centre stage: Madhuri Dixit Madhuri Dixit, it seems, has a dream role in cinematographer Anil Mehta’s directorial debut. “Madhuri has a dream role in the film,” says a member of the film’s crew. “It’s her story all the way. The other actors are important but supportive. Madhuri plays a theatre actress. It’s her character’s 10-year-old journey that forms the crux of the film.” Although she has played a member of a dance troupe in Yashraj Films’ Dil To Pagal Hai, Madhuri has never played a role of a theatre actress before. In fact Mehta’s film would be the first since Gulzar’s unreleased Libaas to be set in the theatre world. Laying to rest rumours about a rift between Ranvir Shorey and Konkona, the duo will be part of Madhuri’s theatre group, while Anupam Kher will play Madhuri’s mentor. Apparently Kunal Kapoor has also been approached for a role. Rumours of Mehta’s movie being traced to the Susan Sarandon-Julia Roberts tear jerker Stepmom have been doing the rounds. “The story is an original and has nothing to do with the Hollywood film. Madhuri won’t do a Hollywood remake at this stage of her career,” the source adds.

A mother of two now, Madhuri Dixit is excited at the prospect of returning to the silver screen after five years and says she chose Yash Chopra's banner for the occasion because she is comfortable with them. 'Yash-ji has worked wonderfully well with married actresses before. Whether it's Raakhee-ji-Waheeda-ji in 'Kabhi Kabhie' or Kajol in 'Fanaa', he's aware and sensitive to the schedules and needs of an actress who is a wife and a mother,' Madhuri told IANS in an interview. Cinematographer Anil Mehta will direct Madhuri's comeback vehicle. 'My comeback film has a bit of everything in it. Hopefully, it will be something that people will like to see me back in.' Madhuri, who has decided not to do more than two films a year, is not apprehensive about changes in the industry. 'I've heard the change is for the better. Everyone's more disciplined. That makes things easier for me. I'd be able to work better. To be a part of this phase, when so much is happening, is a challenging thought.' The film is expected to go on the floors in January. Excerpts: Everyone is truly excited about your return in a Yash Raj Films' project? Yes, my comeback film has a bit of everything in it. Hopefully, it will be something that people will like to see me back in. Why is cinematographer Anil Mehta directing it? Firstly, when they narrated the script to me I was deeply excited. I felt this would be the right film to do after a long break. The way the story is written is quite interesting. I've worked with Yash Raj Films before and they know me so well. They know I'd never cause unnecessary delays. More importantly, Yash-ji has worked wonderfully well with married actresses before. Whether it's Raakhee-ji-Waheeda-ji in 'Kabhi Kabhie' or Kajol in 'Fanaa', he's aware and sensitive to the schedules and needs of an actress who's a wife and a mother. Things may be a little out of the timetable once in a while. And I feel comfortable with them. What was your husband's reaction to your decision to return to movies? He's fully supportive of whatever I do. He feels I should have no regrets in life. He feels one's talent shouldn't be suppressed. Any nervousness about taking away from your kids' time? I'm extremely nervous. But there comes a time in a woman's life when she needs to think of a world outside her home. There're so many women all over the world who work and manage a career. My children are the most important part of my life. But they are growing and need to be a little independent. Also, my shooting in India will give the kids a chance to get in touch with their roots, to be in the country of their origins. They'll be with my family and they'll meet with their cousins. I think they'll have fun. How much time can you give to acting? Well, once my two kids start going to school they won't be able to travel with me to India. Therefore, I thought this would be a good opportunity. I wasn't desperate to get back to work. But I've worked for so many years that it's become inbred in me. So, the thought of returning does excite me. Everyone missed you after your last film 'Devdas'. Did you miss films? I don't miss the adulation or the glamour, though it's great to know people still miss me. What I missed was being in front of a camera and assuming various characters. Yeah, I missed that. I'm glad to have that back. Of course, those five years away from the camera have been very, very rewarding. I always wanted children and a family. It was a big part of my dream. I thoroughly enjoyed that whole phase. Now, that the kids are growing up, I can take a little time off for myself. How old are the kids? The older one is four-and-a-half-years-old and the younger is one-and-a-half-years-old. And there's no question of leaving them behind in the US. I can't imagine my life without them. They'll come with me to Mumbai. Looking back at your truckload of blockbusters, are you satisfied? Ask any actor, they'll tell you they've a long way to go. To be satisfied with what you've done isn't the way to move ahead. There's always something better around the corner. When do you start shooting? Sometime in January 2007. And we'll be done in three-four months. Then it's the return of Madhuri Dixit? I'm doing this without any thought for the repercussions. I just want to enjoy the feeling of facing the camera. Any apprehensions about how much cinema has changed since you last showed up? I've heard the change is for the better. Everyone's more disciplined. That makes things easier for me. I'd be able to work better. To be a part of this phase, when so much is happening, is a challenging thought. Any more projects? Right now I'll just focus on this project, test the waters and see how the audience and I react. This film will give me the confidence to make further career decisions. Have you met up with your director Anil Mehta as yet? No I haven't. But I'm very familiar with his work as a cinematographer. In fact, when I had to do my ad films for Himami, I had asked for him. But he was very busy. We just have to see what happens.

Madhuri can act while Chopras take care of her kids By IndiaFM News Bureau, January 17, 2007 - 06:48 IST Madhuri Dixit Nene, the timeless diva of Bollywood is making a comeback after many years. She is in Mumbai shooting for Anil Mehta’s Aaja Naachley. On the first day of her shoot at Yashraj Studios, Yash Chopra welcomed her personally. Madhuri was doing an interactive scene with her co-stars in the movie but refused to divulge much about her part. She had come to the sets with her two little sons. Yashji, as they fondly call him, made all necessary arrangements for them. When Madhuri reached the sets at around 6:30 p.m. she saw that a special playing area had been arranged for her kids, so that they can be comfortable when their mother is shooting during the day. Since she has never really been away from her kids since the time she became a mother, Yashji comforted her saying that she can act, while they take care of her kids. The actress shot all through the night and got home only in the wee hours of the morning. However, she claimed that the first day of her shoot was indeed very memorable. An elated Madhuri said that she was touched to see how Yashji personally came in to greet her! Reportedly, the lucky guy who has been cast opposite the lovely actress is Akshaye Khanna. The duo earlier came together in the forgettable film Mohobbat (1997). Aaja Naachley also stars Konkona Sen Sharma and Kunal Kapoor.

wichy: отсюда Madhuri Dixit on her 'comeback' and life in Denver Tell her that she is the Amitabh Bachchan among Bollywood heroines, and Madhuri Dixit-Nene looks exasperated. "Why not just the Madhuri Dixit of movies, why Amitabh Bachchan?" she says. "Not that I don't respect him; I admire Mr Bachchan and his work. But why does the comparison have to be with a man?" It is just one of the many moments during the candid chat with the actor. Dressed elegantly in black trousers and a printed kurti, Madhuri looks every bit her part-a new generation 'yummy mummy'. As she returns to theatres with a mid-year release of YashRaj's Aaja Nachley, Madhuri admits that the action-lights-camera routine was the only thing she sorely missed in Denver. "I am thrilled to be working again. Being in the limelight was something I shied away from so that is really nothing that I care about. But I missed my craft; all of it-the emoting, telling a story, building a character," she says. When Madhuri danced to Saroj Khan's choreography at a film awards function last year, she fuelled rumours of a comeback. The actor admits she had received a call from Yash Chopra then asking if she was willing to face the camera. Luckily for her fans, she replied in the positive. After her younger son, Ryan, turned one, Madhuri had decided that if a good script came her way she would definitely consider it. "It was a dream offer. I had worked with YashRaj before and was sure about their professionalism. I knew that the project would be over on time and since they had worked with married actresses, they would know the constraints," says the smiling beauty. While not much has been revealed about the script, Aaja Nachley is said to be the story of a theatre actor and dancer, starring a coterie of actors including Akshaye Khanna. It also marks the directorial debut of cinematographer Anil Mehta known for movies like Khamoshi, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Lagaan, Kal Ho Na Ho, Veer Zaara, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and the upcoming Marigold. Says trade analyst Komal Nahata: "Married actresses are making successful comebacks with meatier roles. Kajol and Juhi Chawla have proved it. Film-makers are experimenting with subjects that allow actresses to showcase their skills, irrespective of marital status or age." Worth Rs 75 lakh when she last faced the lights, Madhuri is estimated to have been paid nearly Rs 1 crore for this project. From being a reel heroine to a real life wife and mother, Madhuri says, was not a difficult transition. In fact, she was eagerly looking forward to it. The Dhak dhak girl got married to a Denver-based surgeon, Shriram Nene, in 1999. By 2005, she was the mother of two, Arin and Ryan. In the meantime, she did one film, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas, giving life to the character of Chandramukhi. The movie did very well, and Madhuri knew her audience still longed to watch her. At the age of 21, she burst on to the silver screen with the hit song Ek do teen in Tezaab, and Madhuri became a rage. The super success of Subhash Ghai's Ram Lakhan established her acting skills. The hits flowed in and Madhuri ruled: Dayavan, Parinda, Dil, Saajan, Khalnayak, Beta, Raja.... Sometimes it was her dance, sometimes her comedy and in Dayavan it was her skin show (something that she still regrets). Her Dhak dhak and Choli ke peeche performances made fans go berserk. The high point, however, was Sooraj Barjatya's Hum Aapke Hain Koun, where she became a style statement: every dialogue, every step, every dress was imitated by the audience. No wonder, Madhuri calls it her favourite film. "It wasn't only about the role, we actually had a great time making the movie. It also started a trend of family movies," she says. When critics had virtually predicted 'the end' of her career after a spate of poor films like Yaarana, Rajkumar, Prem Granth and Koyla, Madhuri danced her way back with a refreshing performance in Dil To Pagal Hai opposite a much younger Karisma Kapoor. She also starred in Gajagamini directed by artist M.F. Husain who was awed by her beauty after watching Hum Aapke.... After her powerful roles in Prakash Jha's Mrityudand and Rajkumar Santoshi's Lajja, she called it quits. "I wanted to start a family then. I never thought how I would adapt," says Madhuri, about her decision to tie the knot. "People would recognise me there [in Denver] but obviously there was no mobbing like in India. Ram had not even seen my movies, so life was very normal." Two kids and at the start of 40, Madhuri still looks flawlessly beautiful and fit. "Eating healthy was the beginning. I started working out immediately after Ryan but it was difficult," she says. A mix of yoga and gym is her fitness recipe. Out from hibernation, Madhuri is hesitant to call it a comeback. "I had never planned this, nor am I saying that from now on I will do two or four films a year. I am just getting a feel of the industry," she says. Bollywood sure has changed, she admits. "It has become more organised and there is an influx of trained directors now. With the corporate culture coming in, everything has become systematic," says the actor. "I worked at a time when sometimes after assembling for a shoot we'd be sent back since funds weren't ready. Now nobody functions without a bound script. Hopefully all this should help me perform better than before." As of now, the night shoot system is working perfectly for Mads as her children hardly notice her absence. Does she think she still has the grit to be number one? Pat comes the reply: "I have always maintained that we are individuals not commodities that can be numbered. Each of us is popular because of a certain quality. As for grit, I'd say it is important to have healthy thoughts and respect every person. I have never stepped on others' toes to achieve what I wanted to."

“MY KIDS WILL ALWAYS COME FIRST IN MY LIFE” ONLY WHEN YOU LOSE SOMETHING DO YOU REALIZE WHAT IT REALLY MEANT TO YOU. ONLY WHEN YOU START MISSING SOMEONE YOU WAKE UP TO THE FACT THAT YOU HAD TAKEN THE PERSON’S PRESENCE FOR GRANTED. MADHURI DIXIT AND THE MINE OF HER TALENT HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST WELL KEPT TREASURES OF THE INDIAN MOVIE BUSINESS. EVERYONE AROUND ME SEEMED TO HAVE VALUED HER EXISTENCE, SINCE THE TIME I REMEMBER. BUT NOT ME. I RECALL MY CALLOUS APPROACH TO MY FIRST INTERVIEW WITH MADHURI YEARS AGO, WHILE SHE WAS SHOOTING FOR ‘DEVDAS’. ONLY AFTER SHE WAS FAR GONE INTO HER BLISSFUL OTHER LIFE, DID THE PANGS OF REMORSE AND IMMENSE RESPECT START SETTING IN. IN THE INDUSTRY LACED WITH PRETENTIOUS METHOD ACTORS AND FACED WITH UTTER MEDIOCRE TALENT, DAY IN AND OUT, YOU COULDN’T HELP BUT MISS MADHURI’S NATURAL GENIUS. TODAY, AS I AM TO MEET HER AGAIN, I HAVE A FEELING IN MY STOMACH SIMILAR TO A VISIT TO LOUVRE TO HAVE A DEKKO OF DA VINCI’S MONA LISA. MADHURI IS A SUPREME ART FORM IN HERSELF. AND LIKE THE PAINTING ON THE WALL, OR A BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF HISTORY, IT CANNOT BE TOUCHED. YOU CAN INTERPRET ART DIFFERENTLY, AT DIFFERENT TIMES, BUT IT DOES STAY IMMORTAL. SD: How much did Madhuri herself want to be back on screen? MD: I don’t know how badly I wanted it. But I can tell you one thing, its going to be fun. I have worked with Yashji before, and it was a good experience. So I have a comfort level there. And they have worked with married actresses, before, so they know what it is like. SD: Yes, that’s Kajol in ‘Fanaa’. How different does she think it’s going to be though, working as a married actress, and two kids to look after? MD: Yes, of course, it’s going to be different. And there are certain parameters that one intends to work in. We are going to have an 8-hour-day, so I can be back with the kids. I can’t stay away from them too long. They will always come first in my life now. If there aren’t feeling too well some day, I won’t be shooting that day. And I am sure everybody understands that. I spoke to Yashji about it and they are fine with it. Obviously there will be some changes from the way I used to work. SD: What was it that she really missed about being an actress? MD: Well, I miss the acting bit of it. I miss being in front of the camera and emoting. It’s my craft. I’ve done it for twenty years or more. That’s what appeals to me. The paraphernalia of being an actress doesn’t matter to me. I have never been driven by that anyway. I don’t miss the adulation and accolades. I like my life in the US. It’s very normal. I can go anywhere and do anything. I have my independence there, which makes me feel emancipated. But yes, I miss acting once in a while; whenever I get time from my kids. SD:Madhuri always maintained her distance from the film industry, even in her heyday. So it’s not hard to believe that she found it easy to snap her ties with the film industry here. MD: Yes, I guess I have been distant. I am just made that way, I guess. I am very simple. I cannot be drawn into the glamour of this industry. For each his own. I don’t say people shouldn’t do it. But I have always called myself ghar ki murgi. I used to finish work and run back home. That must be quite some ghar ki murgi, who adorned the walls of millions of fans at one point in time. But such is life, when now those posters have been replaced by the likes of Kareenas and Bipashas. SD: How does it feel not to be the queen of hearts, a place rightfully earned in the past? MD: Time goes on and you have to move on with time. You can’t just be stuck in one mould and say, ‘this is where I was, and this is where I want to be’. I have not held on to my past successes. I didn’t find it hard to let go of it ’coz I had always dreamt of getting married and having a family. That’s the way I’ve grown up. So it was just a transition for me. I get more joy in just playing with my kids and watching them grow. SD: Would it be wrong to say, she’s gotten what she wanted in life in the past few years; more than what she got from her two-decade-long-career? It’s apparent that when actors make films their lives, their personal growth gets stunted. MD: I always thought of myself as grown up. I was never frivolous or shallow. But yes, I used to think I am a very patient person. But my kids taught me you need a lot more patience. So yeah, there are a lot of things you learn, experiences you have; you evolve as a person. When I was working in films everyone else was responsible for me. There used to be a battery of staff looking out for me. And here you are, with your two kids, and you are responsible for everything that happens in their life. And that’s a very big responsibility. You know I have become so independent living there. Going to the banks, doing everything on your own; that I find it easier to be in Bombay now. First I didn’t even know where to start. Now, I just know I have to get up and go get what I want. SD: How has she adapted to the culture in the US? From a simple thing like being called Madhuriji by practically everyone around here to being Madhuri to her next-door- neighbours in the US; a lot must have changed. MD: Oh, you think, I’ll feel disrespected if I am not called ji? No way, I think I like it being on first name basis with people. There is much more closeness with that. Here it’s a norm that you are this big star, so you will be called ji and ma’am. I think it’s a culture thing. I have never been caught in the trappings of stardom. I’ve been a very down to earth person. SD: Being familiar with Madhuri, it’s the first time one’s hearing that. From what we hear, Madhuri didn’t let many people anywhere close to her personal space. She was always guarded with defensive walls around her. Have things changed since? MD: I wasn’t really guarded or anything. I’m just a private person and I still am. I am not open to people. I was always clear, ‘this is my work and that is my home’. SD: Coming back to films and the industry, does she have friends she feels she is coming back to. MD: That’s the thing. I didn’t make many friends in the industry. I have affections for people I have worked with, and they have affections for me. But there’s nothing like friends-friends. I can say a lot of good movies with good makers came to me. A lot of factors went into why I signed this film, besides the script. It will be something unexpected. SD: That’s what is expected from Madhuri’s comeback film, isn’t it? MD: I don’t know what people expect out of me. You can’t really gauge what people want from you, and I think even people don’t exactly know what they want from you. So we’ll see. Every time a film of yours becomes a hit, there’s pressure as to, ‘Now what you are going to do?’ ‘What are you going to do after ‘Devdas’?’ people ask me. That pressure is always gonna be there. SD: Talking of ‘Devdas’, her last film, a lot of people felt she’d been given a raw deal. Especially after her bravura performance in that small role, you wished there was more of her. MD: It was a great experience. I got to work with Birju Maharajji, the ultimate name in Kathak. SD: What about the raw deal given to her in the film. MD:If Chandramukhi’s character was any longer in the film, the film wouldn’t be called ‘Devdas’, would it? I knew Chandramukhi comes in the film only after the interval. I knew exactly what I was doing in the film. And I was cool with it. ’coz it required less number of dates from me. SD: So now that Madhuri is in town, doing workshops, preparing for her new role, the film directed by Anil Mehta has gathered momentum. Also work is on given strict deadlines, and will be shot in one schedule. MD: You bet, I’m gonna finish the film in one schedule before I go back. Yeah I’m not making a comeback, please. It’s not like I am going to continue doing 2-3 films a years. There are no plans as such. When my kids start going to school, it’s going to be difficult to take so much time off. I am not saying I’m here and I’m back. SD: For somebody who has seen, done and conquered it all, what is challenging for Madhuri the actress today, I wonder aloud. MD: That’s what I mean by pressure. It’s not that. When you love your profession and have enjoyed it for so long, it’s a little hard to walk away from it all, which I did. But there’s something in you that says, ‘there’s more left in me’. SD: Did she ever think of theatre as an option, a territory she hasn’t ventured into, and which many actors find more satisfying? MD: Not really. I haven’t really given it a thought. SD: One of the major gains from this profession is the remuneration actors get, especially if you go by the name Madhuri Dixit. Was that a factor she considered while taking her step back to films? MD: It’s not about money. Even earlier, if a producer came to me and cried, ‘I don’t have money anymore’, I’d just let it go. Money doesn’t drive me. If I like a script enough, I would do it for free. But if I am working I will demand respect and expect it. What is driving me today is to do something creative. And this seems the right time to do something creative, as films have moved on from ‘Dhak dhak…’ and ‘Ek do teen…’ It’s the right time for me. Filmmaking has changed for the better. We have worked in a time when we would be on the sets not knowing what we were doing. I would be asked to wait on the sets saying, ‘Ruko, dialogue likh rahe hai’. We have worked through all that and managed to do good work. It’s a great feeling coming from that scene to today’s sets where everything is so meticulously organized. It’s gonna be great fun. We used to work on instinct. Today with all the organization, there is very little margin for error. SD: So Madhuri’s all set to dazzle on screen once again. And she’s probably in the best shape of her life. MD: Everybody’s telling me I’ve lost weight. Even if I wasn’t going to do this film, I’d still have been fit. That’s how my husband and I feel. We feel we are responsible for our kids’ habits in the future, so we eat healthy, no bad habits. SD: But she wasn’t so conscious about her appearance when she was the reigning queen, I point out the irony. MD: Well, let me put it this way. I didn’t struggle hard to be in my best shape. I was so busy then, had little time for anything else. SD: So has her doctor husband put her on a strict fitness regime? MD: Yeah we go on a strict fitness regime. I did that after Arin too. We have a little gym in the house, where we work out regularly.

wichy: http://magnamags.com/ Madhuri Dixit, the dancing diva of bollywood, who is making her comeback with Yashraj Films’ ‘ Aaja Nachle’, has lost oodles of weight and looking as fresh and young as before her marriage and birth of her children. She attributes all this to support of her husband SriRam Nene and the hard training and disciplined habits regarding food. She admits that her comeback film is a dance-musical by design and not by accident as she loves dancing. As she reveals, ‘ Dance is a lot of things to me. It’s very spiritual to begin with. You just do not just dance with your body. You dance with your spirit. For me it’s like an expression of everything that I am. But having said that, I felt comfortable with the script of this film in its totality.’ Nonetheless, Madhuri admits that initially there was an unexplained fear about the newer changes that has swept bollywood these days. The entry of corporate world has changed the way bollywood works. Now it has become more systematic and disciplined than it was before. Earlier, when the actors arrived on the sets, their dialogues were being written and often they had to go spontaneously without much preparation beforehand. But now the making of a film has become more disciplined and everything is finalized before starting the movie. Everybody knows his part and has the dialogues beforehand. Even the dates for release of the film are worked beforehand. All this planning makes the work of an actor very easy but at the same time it may also kill the spontaneity of an actor. For the first two days, Madhuri was feeling jittery as she was not sure if she would be able to slip in the skin of the character fast enough to give the shots. Another worry on her mind was her kids, who were waiting at home and she had to return to them as soon as possible. But soon she was able to overcome her anxieties and became comfortable with the shoot in a way as she had never gone away from the film industry. Even old friends like Shah Rukh encouraged her and behaved as nothing had changed and she was not returning to shoot after a gap of six years.

Now that she's back to Bollywood, Madhuri Dixit has realised that things have changed a lot since she left. For instance, the actress finds it uncomfortable while shooting sync sound for her comeback film Aaja Naachley as this technology is alien to her. "I am still getting used to it," says Madhuri Dixit. The actress has been part of the industry for almost two decades but in her time, the concept of sync sound was still not so common. "When Anilji (Mehta) explained that the film would be shot sync sound, I felt as though I had been away forever. Bollywood has become very technology savvy. In that sense, it is an advantage to work with a producer like Yashji as he's always up-to-date," she says. For Madhuri it is an entirely new experience altogether, one that leaves the seasoned actress ill-at-ease. "It was a different experience for me. Earlier, studios would be full of noise. From the irritating sound of the camera to technicians chit-chatting, I was comfortable with all sorts of disturbances. In fact, it used to work really well for me because I could concentrate 100 per cent on my facial expressions, knowing that I could dub later. But now it's a different story. Now there's complete silence and I have to be very conscious about both aspects of acting, expressions and lines, during a shot," she explains. In fact, Madhuri says it feels strange to hear her own voice during shooting. "It was really funny to hear my own voice on the sets. I became slightly conscious. Younger actors like Konkona and Kunal Kapoor are really good with all these techniques. Frankly speaking, I am enjoying every bit of the shooting because the process of filmmaking has become so refined," she admits. Madhuri says that she's very eager to get in sync with the concept of sync sound. And that is why she also keeps her kids away from the shooting zone as they don't understand the technical limitations of shooting in sync sound. "They have a play station installed inside the studio and I allow them to enter the sets only when I am doing a song sequence," she says.
