Бипсе, когда я помню, увидела её в Jism я право слово решила, что и она мне ровесница,но потом прочитав её интервью,где на рассуждала на тему,почему не идёт замуж за Абрашу, - а потому что в их деревне(роду) раньше 27 лет якобы не принято взамуж выходить - то получалось, что её 22 года..А судя по тому, что свадебка вроде как намечается на след.год( вичик постила где-то выше),то получается, что уже 27 есть.Хотя, если честно,мне по барабану,глядится она ИМХО намного старше.

And who, pray, has directed Bipasha? Rituparno Ghosh himself. If JISM was a tribute to her sex appeal, then Madhur Bhandarkar's CORPORATE offered her the scope to show that she can do much more than just strut her stuff. You are looking amazing in a sari. What is your own reaction to this radical image change? I am an actress. I should be prepared to step into any role that I choose to take on. Where does the question of 'image' come in, tell me? As for the change in my looks, well, even my father was surprised and asked me – 'where are your shorts?' The 'look' depends entirely on the demands of the script and the character and not on who is going to portray the character. In SHAWB CHORITRO KALPONIK, I am playing Radhika, a Bengali housewife. So, Ritu-da and I discussed the look I should have. So, I wore the sari, a nice, round and red bindi and some ethnic jewellery throughout the film. That is all there is to it. How did this offer come to you? Once, during one of his trips to Mumbai, Ritu-da had narrated a part of the script to me. I had liked it very much. Later, I heard the entire script and even then hesitated a bit because the role demanded some difficult Bengali lines. That was the only reason. Then, I made up my mind and accepted the challenge. In fact, I had been toying with the idea of doing a Bengali film for the past three years. Talks were on with Ritu-da as well. But I could not take a final decision because of date problems. Once I heard about Radhika, my mind was made and here I am. Ritu-da said there would not be any problem, as we would probably complete the shoot in a single schedule. What is the character all about? Radhika is an ordinary Bengali housewife who has lived away from her home state for some time. She comes back to Kolkata after her husband Indranil goes missing, in search of her roots, in a manner of speaking. Indranil was an engineer by profession but chose to concentrate on poetry. The film is filled with lyricism and the romance of poetry. When Radhika returns to Kolkata, she gets introduced to Shekhar, a photographer. She also tries to discover some little-known things about her missing husband through his poems. SHAWB CHORITRO KALPONIK traces the journey of Radhika – the physical journey of coming home, the emotional journey of trying to discover her roots, the retrospective journey into her relationship with her husband, and the metaphorical journey of all these journeys put together. Now that the shooting is over, how do you look back on the character and the film? It was an extremely challenging role. It is my first film in Bengali, for one thing. Secondly, I have never played a character that comes even remotely close to Radhika's. Thirdly, the character is slightly older than what I am now. I have tried my best to mould myself to become Radhika in the best possible way I could. At the same time, there are some similarities between Radhika and me. Like Radhika, my roots are also in Kolkata. I went away to Mumbai like she went away from her hometown. Like Radhika, I have come back now, to rediscover my old self in my old city. Ritu-da chose me to do this role precisely because of these similarities between Radhika and myself. I do not think he would have asked me to do this film had these things not been there. The character demanded tremendous intensity.

wichy: отсюда Bipasha's first regional film, Sab Charita Kalpunik, has hit a blind spot due to issues between director Rituparno Ghosh and Reliance Big Entertainment. The film is Bipasha's first in her mother-tongue, Bengali. The film is about how an NRI woman who returns to India after her husband’s death, to discover more about him. The film is completed but is not releasing anytime soon. The cause of the issue was about the placement of Reliance logo during the credit titles. Says a source close to the project, “While Reliance wanted their logo to be flashed on the screen with the first shot of the film, Rituparno is of the opinion that it would be more aesthetic to have the logo just before the narration begins. ” The film’s release has now been delayed by the dispute between Rituparno and Reliance. When contacted, Rituparno says, “The film is complete and all issues have now been resolved. We’ll probably release the film in September. Sab Charita Kalpunik is special to me because I worked with Bonny (Bipasha) for the first time. She’s been calling me anxiously from wherever she is, asking about the release of the film. She’s excited about the film because she plays an NRB in it.” NRB? What's that? “NRB is a Non-Resident Bengali!” Rituparno quips. “You can’t compare Bengalis with the other Indians abroad. Bengalis are a breed apart,” she smiles. Bipasha can’t stop talking about the time she spent at a hotel in Capri. “The hotel where I stayed is frequented by celebrities from all over the world. My room overlooked the ocean and it was the most gorgeous suite I had ever stayed in. Capri is so lovely. It’s not a place to visit while at work, but a place to unwind. I immediately wanted to call John over for a holiday,” she says. However, Bipasha’s holiday plans will have to be kept on hold for a while. She is currently getting her house renovated while John is shooting for Kabir Khan’s New York in Philadelphia. “I have rented a place close to where I live so that I can shift there while my house is being renovated. But even my rented house is being done up before I can move there. For now, I am staying at my own place in a makeshift corner. With all this work going on, you can understand my unhappy state of mind. It’s about time I take my most deserved holiday break. I am definitely going back to Capri with John,” says Bipasha. Bapasha Basu can't hold her excitement anymore. She shares her experience of working with Ranbir Kapoor and much more with our correspondent. So you are all excited... Yes... excited certainly I am. It's a big film and expectations are high but more than that it's a good film. I must say this is a great film from Yash Raj. Yash Raj... Hmm. Your last Yash Raj release DHOOM 2 too was also a hit. Does that add to the expectations? Big banners always matter. They are always important. I am more excited because I am working with this banner. Yash Raj has always made good films and I am sure this one too will be appreciated by the cinemagoers. Your last film RACE was a hit. So you have had a good year so far. I am keeping my fingers crossed. It was a different film and this one is a different film altogether. I do fewer films these days because I have decided that I will only do those films which I would really enjoy doing. I enjoyed doing this film and more so because of a perfect set of costars and a good director. Which means you liked everything about this film... I wanted to do a romantic film because I haven't done one for a long time. BACHNA AE HASEENO had a lovely script...I mean it was perfect from all corners. But what was more attractive was my character 'Radhika'. It was almost custom made for me. I could relate to it. And not only just me but the entire casting has been perfect including Deepika, Ranbir and Minissha's character. That makes a lot of sense. So how does Radhika look? It is an out and out glamorous role. You mean like the one in RACE? You can't compare the two. It was thriller and this is an out-and-out romantic film. Radhika is a dancer by professional who comes to Mumbai and joins Shaimak Dawar's dance group. She is smart, intelligent and highly fashionable...in one word she is today's perfect urban girl. Each character has been given a different kind of look, including mine. Did you have to work a lot on your look? No, it was Aki Narula who gets the credit. He has given me a damn cool look. He has made me look as much fashionable as possible. He is simply great at his job. Now the more important thing... Ranbir Kapoor. He is the heartthrob of the nation. How was it working with him? Oh...he was simply great, not because he is the heartthrob of the nation but as a professional too he is great to work with. The best thing about him is he knows what to do and how to do. And top of it Ranbir is a simple and down to earth guy who despite coming from a Kapoor family doesn't carry any attitude. You were also the senior-most member among all the four actors. So did you come up with suggestions and some handy tips? (Laughs) Do you think that was at all required? Come on I must say that we all had a great time working together. It was great team and you will get to see the outcome once the film releases. Moreover, Ranbir and Deepika never looked like newcomers. The kind of launch they got last year has added to their confidence. And that has helped both a lot at work. So is Minissha. She is a very sweet girl and she too has so many good films to her credit already. (Smiles) Okay, okay you seem to be really excited about this film... Oh and I missed out someone's name who made it all happen. Siddharth (Anand) our director. He is young and was full of energy coordinating everything. Now tell me about what after BACHNA AE HASEENO... I have Rituparno Ghosh's SOB CHARITRO KALPONIK and another film PANKH. Both are good films but I am particularly excited about my first Bengali film. It's a completely different kind of film and role. You will see a different kind of Bipasha altogether. Apparently it's a deglam role... (Smiles) I am not going to say anything more. Right now I am completely focusing on BACHNA AE HASEENO. I will tell you the next time.

When I meet her for this interview at Yashraj Studios, Bipasha Basu tells me that she is more than happy with the fact that since the time that she had made her debut in Bollywood with Abbas-Mustan's Ajnabee, she has made rapid strides as an actress in the last eight years and carved for herself a niche in the industry. "It has been a learning process for me from Ajnabee till my latest release- Bachna Ae Haseena. I have learnt everything on the job slowly and steadily unlike then new comers today who come prepared even with their first film." Bipasha confesses that she has matured with time and become more responsible, as an actress. "I am glad I could live to see a film of mine celebrating its golden jubilee like my second film after Ajnabee- Raaz did. I am not bragging about it but genuinely I feel sad that today it is not possible for any actor, including John Abraham to celebrate the jubilee of his or her film, since a stage has come when a film has got to recover its cost in the first three days of its release with films having become a big business with the mushrooming of the multiplexes." Bipasha admits that she enjoyed working with Ranbir Kapoor in Bachna Ae Haseena. "I had a fabulous time playing the character of the Shiamak Davar dancer Radhika in Bachna Ae Haseena" Bipasha recalls the fact that while doing a dance number for the film, she even had a tear in her meniscus but continued to perform after a physiotherapist was brought to the sets and kept on stand by to attend to her. According to her, the choreographer Ahmed Khan manipulated the steps in such a way that the weight was there only on the left leg and the best thing was that when she saw the film, it looked like she was not at all in pain when executing her steps. Bipasha is angry when you ask her how comfortable is it to be pitted with a young guys like Ranbir Kapoor in Bachna Ae Haseena and Neil Mukesh in Freeze, who are younger than her. "Why is an actress who has not even touched 30 labelled as a senior actress just because she is cast opposite new actors like Ranbir and Neil, who are younger to me just by two to three years? Aishwarya Rai has married Abhishek Bachchan who is three years younger to her but has it in any way changed their relationship"? Bipasha feels that it is unfair that there is an anti lobby for a woman when she is cast opposite a younger actor even though she does not sport wrinkles. "Why is it that no one has any objection when an actor like Nana Patekar or for that matter Anil Kapoor is cast opposite actresses who are half their age? There was no hue and cry raised when Akshay Khanna was teamed in Dil Chahta Hai opposite Dimple who is senior to him by 25 years . It is indeed high time that women are given a break." Bipasha feels that she has not been given her due as an actor though she had given an award winning performance in Corporate because of limitations. "There are many reasons why I am not offered good films. I do not belong to any particular camp like some other actresses. It is well known fact that I have a boy friend who I do not hide in my closet. All said and done, we should not forget the fact that it is a hero oriented film industry and I cannot ask for more than what I being offered." Bipasha is now getting opportunities to prove her mettle as an actress. Among the films that she has up her sleeves are Freeze directed by Jehangir Surti and Pankh directed by Sudipto Gupta. While Freeze in which she has been teamed opposite Neil Mukesh is a romantic thriller, Pankh is a psychological thriller which deals with the psyche of a young boy who has to play a girl child because of his mum's pressure. I play this interesting imaginary character of a woman who guides him through his turmoil." Bipasha is frank enough to admit that she could identify a lot with the character of Radhika which she had essayed in Bachna Ae Haseena, because Radhika is a contemporary young independent young woman like Bipasha is. "Your first love can end in marriage if you are lucky. Also you can fall in love any number of times till you end up meeting your ideal soul mate. It is all a question of your luck." Bipasha does not mind admitting that love is her top priority in life even though she is a career woman. "What would you do in life if you are busy 24/7 with only your work and have no one to share your life? However, in case you want to know when I am planning top plunge into marriage with John, let me confess that as of now there are no marriage plans for us though we do not hide the fact that we are seeing each other and are in love. What I like the best about John and myself is that both of us do not carry the baggage of being stars. We are like-minded soul mates who do not like to hide behind sunglasses."

Poster provocateur Talking about it Sudipto says, "Bipasha plays a woman who is constantly trying to provoke the 20-year-old Jerry (the protagonist) played by Maradona Rebello. Bipasha agreed to do the role after just a one-line narration. She's Jerry's alter-ego and fantasy who only exists in his mind. He always imagines her to be a diva. Actually she's an actress but we don't show her except in a poster." Sudipto continues, "In the song Jiya Jala Na, she seduces him. She creates the confusion in his mind about his real identity - whether he's a boy or girl, a man or eunuch because he used to be a famous child artiste cross-dressed by his mother as a girl. He continues, "Bipasha completely undoes Jerry which leads to the final catastrophe. She pushes him to fly and that's why the film is called Wings or Pankh. He flies away from the reality of sordid existence." Bips has a different look in every scene. There's no consistent look for her. There's a constant disturbance in Jerry's mind. His only relief is when he sexually fantasises about Bips. He wants to make love to her." The director says he has styled Bipasha's diva look in the song, "But the idea was executed by Rocky S and Gavin Miguel. It's a very seductive song sung by Sunidhi Chauhan. I wanted her to look like two divas - Sophia Loren and Liza Minelli from Cabaret. Bipasha even cut her hair for the song, she didn't want to wear a wig as it doesn't fit proportionately." Sudipto says she had to prepare for the role. "We had lengthy discussions and spoke about each scene. She understood the character and gave it a face. While enacting any scene with the other actors present Bipasha never made herself visible except for Jerry. She never ever looked at anybody else but behaved as if she was invisible. У Бипаши в каждой сцене новый имидж. Стиль Бипсы в песне придуман самим режиссером. Песню исполняет Сунидхи Чоухан. Режиссер хотел, чтобы Бипса напоминала сразу двух див - Софи Лорен и Лайзу Минелли из Cabaret. Бипаша подстриглась для этой песни. Также режиссер рассказывает, что он и Бипаша обычно обсуждают каждую сцену, и она хорошо понимает персонажа и воплощает его. Когда они снимают сцену с другими актерами, Бипаша должна показать, что не видна никому, кроме Джерри - она никогда не смотрит ни на кого другого и действует, словно она невидимка. Режиссер очень доволен ее работой.
