On being probed further, he added, "Every security gadget known to us is being used. Hi-tech security devices will be in place on the wedding day. Apart from this, every invitation has a serial number and an electronic coding which will allow the guest in only after swiping the card. Also, a member from the Bachchan family will be at the entrance without whose approval and consent guests won't be allowed to enter the mandap." Steel girdles put up at Jalsa The entire backyard of Jalsa is converted into a marriage hall, which will have only one door for entry as well as exit. The interior decoration is taken care by the Sandeep-Khosla team, the food is being catered by one of the top five-star hotels in town. George Fleit, a well-known florist will work on 1500 exotic Heliconia flowers, especially flown in from Bangalore. The wedding is planned to have an interesting theme and a sound-proof structure has been erected so that nothing disturbs the serenity within. When contacted Jai Thakore of EFactor, (the same event management team that contributed largely for Subroto Roy's son's wedding) confirmed the news, saying, "Yes, we have erected a sound-proof structure at Jalsa but I cannot let out the concept since we are under a confidentiality contract with the Bachchans." Hush, hush. As regards the media, there is a little arrangement that the Bachchans have conceded to, said Salaria, "Though the media is not welcome as it remains a purely private affair, arrangements have already been made opposite Pratiksha bungalow for the media, and we have been instructed by the Bachchan family that nobody should be manhandled." Our source informs, "Mallika and Katrina have been at war from day one. Although they have maintained a façade, everyone on the sets is aware of the cold vibes between them. In fact Katrina even lost her cool during one of the schedules, when Mallika was delaying the shoot since they had lot of combination scenes that day. Mallika was also competitive about Katrina's costumes. She wanted Vikram Phadnis out and Ashley Rebello in. When Katrina got a whiff of this conspiracy, she demanded her own designer as well. However, considering the huge cast of the film involving major stars like Akshay Kumar, Nana Patekar, and Anil Kapoor, these ladies have managed to keep their professional issues apart and are working together reasonably well. However, with one more schedule to follow, things can get worse between the two because currently, the vibes are very, very cold." When contacted Anees Bazmee, the director of the film said, "Vikram Phadnis was supposed to do our costumes, he even did No Entry with me. I share a very good rapport with him. However, he was busy this time, so he is not doing Welcome entirely. He did the entire first schedule and gave us excellent costumes. Mallika is very comfortable with Ashley and I have no problem if my actors are comfortable with any particular designer. It can be Vikram, Manish or Ashley; I have no issue as long as my actors are happy." Anees denied that Katrina and Mallika have any problem. "I don't think that Katrina and Mallika have any problem with each other. We have shot a long schedule with them and even one song. I don't know if they have any issues between them but as far as my work is concerned, they have been extremely professional. They both have great roles in the film." When contacted Katrina Kaif said, "I have no tension with Mallika and as far as the designer being changed is concerned, you will have to ask the director about it. I have no clue about it and I have no issues whatsoever." Meanwhile, Vikram Phadnis also confirmed that he is no longer doing the film, but cited date problems as the reason. He said, "I got busy as I had to go to South Africa for the fashion week, but I did the first schedule of the film. In fact, they look a bulk of clothes from me as they had the shot division done. Mallika and Katrina even did a photo shoot for me and I have no clue whther Ashley is doing Mallika's costumes now, or not." It looks like a ceasefire of sorts has been declared, as of now. Ash and Abhi will tie the knot on April 20 and a select list of guests including Amar Singh and Anil and Tina Ambani will grace the occasion. Even though preparations are in full swing at the Bachchans’ residence (Jalsa and Prateeksha), there is a shroud of secrecy regarding who have been invited to the major ceremonies (Mehendi, Sangeet and Wedding) of the forthcoming Abhi-Ash wedding on April 20. However, it is reliably learnt that Abhi’s close friends – Sikander Kher and Goldie Behl – will be doing a dance performance at the Sangeet ceremony a day before the wedding. A source close to the Rais says, "Ash is somewhat anxiety-ridded, but that's only natural. She has taken personal interest in everything from her wedding trousseau to the cards. It's a big day in her life and she wants everything to work out according to plan." The actress is known to have made a few frenzied trips to her jeweller and designer. Her close friends reveal that she's doing her last-minute shopping with mom Vrinda Rai in tow. "Ash is just getting a bit nervous with just two days to go for the wedding," says our source. After brainstorming over the guest-list for weeks now, the actress has just started sending out her 'big' invitations, comprising two well-crafted boxes. The 16-page wedding card comes in one box, accompanied by another box, of cookies. The actress has invited some of the people she has worked closely with, from the industry and the fashion world. If sources are to be believed, Sahara chief Subrato Roy, who is extremely close to the Bachchan family, has volunteered to help Ash with the invitations. Apparently, they are distributing the cards for Ash. Meanwhile, we've also heard that Subrato Roy is planning to gift heavy gold jewellery to Ash for the wedding. Come Wednesday and the Aishwarya Rai-Abhishek Bachchan wedding celebrations will kick start with the sangeet ceremony at the Bachchans’ old home in Juhu Prateeksha. Huge sound-proof, air-conditioned tents have been put up for guests. Close friends of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan will enthral guests with a dance performance on ‘Bidi Jalaile’ from ‘Omkara’. Sources tell us Jaya’s friends have been gifted specially made embroidery sarees from the family’s close pals and fashion designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. Ash and Abhi will also perform the popular ‘Kajra Re’ number for their guests. For those who thought the groom was cross with his good pal for kissing his bride-to-be onscreen, here’s good news - Hrithik Roshan will also put in a special appearance. While Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly not been invited to the wedding, rumour has it that he may dance at the sangeet. While fashion designer Neeta Lulla confirmed to After Hours she would be dressing up Ash for her wedding, for this particular function the beautiful star will wear her in-laws’ choice – an Abu-Sandeep creation. Designer Hemant Trivedi is also designing some outfits for Aishwarya’s wedding trousseau. When contacted he refused to divulge any details, but confirmed, “I am doing some clothes for Aishwarya, but I must respect her and the family’s wish not to discuss them and therefore garner publicity for myself.” He further added, “Her longtime friendship and trust in me is much more important.” The Mehendi The mehendi ceremony on Thursday will also take place at Prateeksha. For this function, Ash will wear a red zari-embroidered ghagra choli designed by Lulla. The henna for the grand wedding is being specially brought from Sojat, Rajasthan. The wedding While the Hindu calendar deems April 20 (Akshay Tritya) as an auspicious day which needs no special time, sources tell us the wedding will take place at 6.30pm at the Bachchans’ other home Jalsa. Family pundits have been invited for this solemn affair, which will follow the Arya Samaj rites. Ash will wear a hand-woven sari with golden zari embroidery by Lulla, while Abhi will wear an Abu-Sandeep sherwani. With Amitabh’s mother Teji Bachchan critically ill, the reception is deferred for a later date in June at a five star hotel. Bollywood will be invited in large numbers for this do. The honeymoon Again, due to his grand mom’s poor health, Abhi will not go on a honeymoon right now, though the couple has received an invitation from Ireland. Reportedly, a letter to Amitabh Bachchan from Tourism Ireland states: ‘We are really happy to learn about the forthcoming wedding of Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. Upcoming filmmaker Shakeel Saifee however, took full advantage of the hullabaloo and announced his next film, Aishwarya Rai. As the title suggests, the film deals with the life of the green eyed actress and well, Shakeel has also added parts of fiction to the story. To play the role Ash, Shakeel has signed a choreographer and an aspiring actress named Ashwini Kale. Shakeel Saifee had earlier planned to approach Ash look-alike Sneha Ullal, but then Ullal seemed too expensive for his Rs 1.5 crore film budget. He then noticed Ashwini in a small budget film and he knew he found his lead actress. The film will be a love triangle revolving around Ash, Abhishek and Salman. The plot is somewhat similar to Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, but in Shakeel’s film, a dying Salman willingly hands over Ash to Abhishek. There is also a character relating to Vivek Oberoi in the film. Saifee has also managed to get clearance for the film’s title from the Indian Motion Pictures Association. When asked why he is making such a film, Shakeel says that he has lot of respect for Aishwarya and this film will be a gift to her. While most of the Yashraj camp directors were on the guest list, the Bachchans didn't invite Sanjay Gadhvi. No prizes for guessing why. "They had fallen through after the Dhoom 2 controversy. Dost Dost na raha Hrithik Roshan: Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan have been childhood friends and have always shared a warm relationship. Unable to bear the harsh words from her mentor, a sobbing Sonam retired to her vanity van, but not before making frantic calls to daddy Anil Kapoor and uncle Boney Kapoor. In no time, the Kapoors rushed to the rescue of the damsel-in-distress. Apparently, Anil requested Bhansali to be more lenient and spare his daughter from such public humiliation. Staying true to his reputation, Bhansali begged them to not intrude into his space. A source close to Bhansali says, "He is a true perfectionist and hates any kind of compromise on his sets. Sonam was unable to get the emotions right, so he reprimanded her. For him everybody is equal on the sets and no one gets special treatment." Sources, however, inform that it wasn't a stray incident. In the past, when Sonam had just started off as an assistant on Bhansali's films, a similar incident had taken place there. She got a taste of Bhansali's rudeness when she Sanjay Leela Bhansali wasn't armed with a notepad and a pen while he was giving out instructions. An eyewitness says, "Unlike other assistants, Sonam didn't have a notepad and a pen on her. Bhansali sir can't stand any indiscipline. He was furious to see Sonam trying to borrow a pen from another assistant. He gave her an earful and asked her to leave the sets." And as the story goes, Anil and Boney had rushed to the sets to calm down Bhansali back then too. When we quizzed Boney about it, he took a long pause before saying, "Nothing like that happened." Sanjay Leela Bhansali was unavailable for comment. What prompted the go-slow attitude? “I've always operated that way. There're offers aplenty, but I am in no mood to do mediocre films. The only film I've signed is a British production. You need to enjoy your work. Like METRO. I've pleasant memories of this film,” Shilpa smiles. Is METRO special? “Yes, it is. Even if BIG BROTHER wouldn't have happened to me, I'd still maintain that a film like METRO would put me on a different pedestal. It's one of those unpretentious movies that come rarely to an actor. Soha Ali Khan did just that in Sudhir Mishra’s KHOYA KHOYA CHAND. For a song sequence in the film, Soha had to shoot continuously over six days. On the sixth day, when Sachin Krishn - the cinematographer was taking close ups of her feet he discovered they were scratched and bleeding! Six days of shooting in heavy jewellery and an elaborate costume had taken their toll, but dedicated as she is, Soha didn’t even let anyone know that her feet was bleeding. She insisted on continuing to shoot, covering the scratches with make up. Now, this is what is called true dedication to one’s art. She went their after almost two years to do a pooja worshipping the spirits of her ancestors. “We summon their spirits once in five generations, and the entire Shetty clan was there. We were off non-vegetarian food for the last two-and-a-half months in preparation. We had a 28-hour pooja starting on Tuesday. I barely slept,” says Shilpa. While she was away, there was rumour doing the rounds that Shilpa’s going to be doing a film with former flame Akshay Kumar. But Shilpa says, “Somebody has come up with the idea of casting us together, but nothing definite has been spoken about.” Another rumour doing the rounds is that of her having bought property in London. Shilpa dismisses all immediate plans, but admits she might eventually do that in the future. “I do intend to buy property there, as it’s a matter of convenience. If I’m going to be spending a large chunk of my time there, I might as well get an apartment in London, right? It’s far more practical than staying in a hotel,” she says. Currently, Shilpa is gearing up to perform at the IIFA Awards in June in Yorkshire (UK), and then the world premiere of my film Metro in Sydney and Melbourne (Australia), London, Dubai, Toronto (Canada) and Mumbai. Shilpa is not inviting Jade Goody for the premiere citing the reason that the event might be overshadowed by a gimmicky Shilpa-Jade Goody reunion moreover it would be like inviting a security hazard. Yes, he might be coming for the Metro premiere. Says Shilpa, “Apne is as precious to me as Metro. I signed Anilji’s film because I loved the idea of being paired with Sunny Deol in a film starring all three Deols (including Dharmendra and Bobby). Metro is releasing in May, and Apne follows in June. So yeah, I’m tense about both releases.” “Everyone goes through a lean patch. So did I, before Big Brother happened. And let’s not forget that Anilji made Gadar, one of the biggest hits in Hindi cinema. I’m sure Apne will be a massive hit as well,” she says confidently. wichy: Глянув на перфомансы на Zee Awards, стало мне что-то печально... Танцы поставлены конечно грандиозно - в плане шоу-оформления, так сказать... но хореография - слезы. Да и танцевать особо никто не танцует. И похоже, не особенно-то стремится учиться. Так, глядишь, и останется в Болливуде танцевальное искусство только в массовке... Индивидуально красивые танцы может выдать настолько мало людей... Да и с подтанцовкой большинство актеров так... подпрыгивают в ритм, сильно теряясь на фоне подтанцовщиков. Честно говоря, не могу сказать, что хоть один перфоманс понравился безусловно - но, пожалуй, с самым большим удовольствием посмотрела Аби - самая забавная постановка, жутко понравилась задумка с Кирон Кхер - которую вообще люблю. Но и там хореография небогатой красоты. Уважение вызывает Приянка - хотя и не люблю ее танцы, просто стиль не нравится, больно уж спортивные и неженственные, чтоль... но девушка честно отработала все, что могла - видно, что отрепетировала не раз. Шоу Катрины - сколько раз видела, ни разу ни одно по второму разу не потянуло посмотреть - либо талант отсутствует напрочь (а в фильмах просто на монтаже наклеивают музыку на движения так, чтобы в такт попадало), либо просто ну совсем не старается... Десять девушек с песенками за десять последних лет - ни одна не впечатлила, тоже полу-сырые какие-то номера с незатейливой хореографией. Ну тут вроде и так ясно - не особо хореограф заморачивался над номером. Прити - для меня безлико, но хотя бы в умении себя подать ей не откажешь. Шах - опять как-то устало, и хореограф тоже не старался для него. Хотя появление - эффектно Да и подбор музыки у Шаха в номере... из ДОна еще ничего, а из КАНКа - как-то не заводит, похоже... а особенно на конец шоу... Ашка - задумка яркая. Ашка хороша. Но как-то... монотонно, чтоль. Кароч, хореография тоже не потрясла мое воображение, и такое впечатление, что Ашка особо на сцене и не выкладывалась. В целом, похоже, молодое поколение не особо старается танцевальные свои способности развивать... За что мой респект Раньке - на Filmfare мне привиделось, что она значительно в плане танцев получшела, раньше на шоу на нее было чуть ли не больно смотреть - а тут и темп неплохой взяла, и грациозно достаточно. Видимо, занимается этим серьезно.

While Shiney has done his first bare-chested look, Shilpa has worn an ultra-revealing backless dress for the first time. Their vibe is also apparent from the interviews in the mag. With such comfort levels, one can surely expect fireworks from their performance in Anurag Basu's METRO. Their spokesperson Dale Bhagwagar says, "Shilpa has matured into a versatile actress over the years. But it's only now that people are sitting up and noticing her. As for Shiney, he's been a powerhouse performer right from 'Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi' to 'Gangster' to 'Woh Lamhe'. The combination of these two talents could be quite an interesting watch." We all know that Shilpa Shetty has become a household name in the U.K, and expectations double up when her film is about to be premiered here. From her reality on Big Brother, Shetty now returns to what she does best - acting on the Big Screen. IndiaFM's London correspondent Devansh Patel was invited for a special screening of the film in London and what follows is his first hand take on the movie. If someone tries to base his picture of today's world on average Bollywood films, he would come to the conclusion that there isn't any world outside Mumbai. This could be explained with sharp ethnic, social, economic and cultural divisions that exist within something that people like to refer as a “city” or a “Metro”. For many of its citizens, life has become so hectic that they now need to find another suitable partner to entertain themselves, and while some need to find the perfect match in the imperfect world, others are desperate to make their marriage work. One of the many films to address this issue is Life in a Metro, directed by Anurag Basu. The narrative is anything but linear, taking as it does a contrasting assortment of characters from all walks of life and all ethnic groups, and tracing how their lives collide, changing each and every one of them forever. In her first film since making a worldwide impact as the winner of Celebrity Big Brother, Shilpa Shetty stars as Shikha, a bored housewife who embarks on an illicit friendship with Akash (Shiny Ahuja). Irrfan Khan is a 30 year old virgin who tries to find love through dating websites. A young man Rahul (Sharman Joshi) desperately tries to make his way in the business world. Ranjeet (Kay Kay Menon) cheats on his wife Shikha… Their everyday lives are thrown into turmoil in their pursuit of love and happiness. Not to forget the oldies, Dharmendra and Nafisa Ali who've just realised that they love each other truly after 40 years of living separately from each other. Is that true love? Anyway, here's how the story goes. Rahul is one young man with dreams. He is working as a call centre executive in Mumbai. He silently loves his boss, Neha portrayed by Kangana Ranaut, a smart young woman who has made it up the ranks in a very short time by sleeping with her boss, Kay Kay Menon. In his 30s, Ranjeet is married to Shikha with a kid. Shikha is very well educated than Ranjeet and claim to earn more money than her husband. But they decided that she should stay back at home and take care of the house and the kid. So Ranjeet ventured out on his quest for money, success and sex… and forgot his family somewhere on the way. Sourness and dullness crept into their relationship giving Ranjeet a silly reason to find a fresh lease of life in Neha. What was wrong with Shikha? She looks ten times hotter than Neha. Dejected and neglected, Shikha gets attracted to Akash when they both meet at the bus-stop. Love blossoms and she almost crosses her limits that she has so passionately guarded all these years. Next up is Shikha's sister and Neha's room-mate, Konkana Sen Sharma as Shruti who works in Radio Mirchi. She is a virgin, anxious to get married to the guy who presents a talk-show on the radio played by Gautam Kapoor as Wishy K. Her boss hooks her up with Wishy only to find out one day that he is a gay. Mr Anurag Basu, didn't you think twice before giving poor Konkana the same scene she performed in Page 3? Moving on swiftly, she then meets Debu aka Irrfan through Shaadi.com, a matrimonial site. Debu too a virgin finds Shruti attractive but she thinks the opposite. Last but not the least, Rahul wants to run in his life to grab success because life for him isn't a morning walk. His key to success and promotion is his house keys as his junior boss, senior boss and his big boss look for a perfect place to get intimate with their mistresses who work in the same office pretending to be call centre girls rather than call girls. And amidst all this confusion we have old man Dharmendra as Amol who comes back from the US to meet Shikha's aunt and to spend the last few months of his life with her first love. So if Richard Gere can kiss Shilpa, our Bollywood balwaan can go one step further by smooching Nafisa Ali. The astonishing thing about this film is that it presents us with a group of people each of whom, with one notable exception, does something utterly unforgivable during the course of the day. Each awful act, if taken alone, would be enough to condemn each character as the villain of the piece, and yet so well drawn, so fully realised and completely credible are these characters' lives and dilemmas, that we end up understanding and sympathising with them as they have their momentary breakdowns and one by one cross the line. The dialogues also leave much to be desired - characters are often burdened with long expository dialogues that don't sound particularly realistic. For example the argument between Shilpa and Kay Kay Menon. Life in a…Metro is fuelled with maddening realism. Don't be fooled by the film's Mumbai backdrop - these are issues that go on every day - everywhere. Music director Pritam and his band appear on-screen in every song which is shot in a situational manner. 'In Dino' is the best of the lot and deserves a standing ovation. It seems churlish to pick out any one performance for special praise as everybody is just alright. Kay Kay gives his natural performance yet again. Shilpa continues what she did on Big Brother, letting her sentiments pour down her eyes and showing her fans that she still is the hottest body in the business. Not many actresses can carry off a saree like she does. Performance wise, she was spot on. But it was Konkana and Irrfan's pair which put the smile back on our cheeks. They were the best of the lot; especially in a scene where Irrfan follows Konkana on a horse to the railway station. Sharman Joshi plays his part well as a used colleague by his bosses; Kangana is the same in every film, lost in love and Shiny Ahuja is a complete waste. Dharmendra and Nafisa Ali's story should've been replaced by giving other characters more meaty appearances. But this is Anurag's film; his characters, his city, his vision. It's deeply human and empathetic, observational without being judgemental, compassionate without being soft, shocking without being gratuitous, clever and contrived but sometimes predictable. CHEENI KUM revolves around Buddhadev Gupta (Amitabh Bachchan), a 64 year old chef who cares for absolutely nothing in life except his cooking. He lives a completely sugar-less life (hence the title) which volleyballs between his job and his equally bitter 85 year old Mother, played by none other than Zohra Sehgal. Although he owns London’s largest and most successful Indian restaurant, Gupta is unable to find that flame of happiness within him. Amidst his comically bitter relationship with his mother and his one-dimensional passion for cooking, Buddhadev finds solace in one and only one person, 9 year old neighbour (played by Swini Khara), with whom he shares all his stories, feelings, and emotions. For this young girl is plagued with the ailment of Lukhemia, and Gupta fears she will not age to see films with Adult Certification. But between this tasteless journey Buddhadev calls his life, he is to encounter a young woman that would change his life in a deep, profound, and somewhat comical manner! It all happened when Nina Verma (Tabu) walked into his restaurant one fateful evening. She is a 34 year old intelligent, charming, and beautiful Indian woman. Independent and firm-minded, Nina was everything Buddhadev is not. Their early interactions were not pleasant at all, but it was Nina’s personable attitude that eventually rubbed off onto Buddhadev. And viola! Romance was in the air. The two decided to get married, and as any decent Indian man would do, Buddhadev approached Nina’s father for her hand in marriage. From here on develops a story of how Buddhadev tries to persuade Nina’s father to look beyond such limitations as age, and to appreciate the love that the two share. wichy: Давненько не было новостей с проекта РГВ Sholay. Итак, про mehbooba - отсюда It's been a long wait for fans who want to see Urmila shimmy to 'Mehbooba' in Ram Gopal Varma Ke Sholay. Amitabh Bachchan and beta Abhishek will groove along with the actress in this one. An excited Urmila says, "At first I felt a mix of excitement, nervousness, anxiety… about doing this number, but now I feel that it was all worth it." Urmila says she had a great time shooting with Abhishek. "I was thrilled when I heard that Abhishek was also part of this song. His get-up is superb. And he is so much fun on the sets. It has been a marvellous experience; the chemistry we shared was fantastic." The actress will return with an item number after a considerable gap. How does it feel, and what changes should the audiences expect? "The choreography of this song is completely different. Ganesh Hegde has made me dance to a mix of different styles. I have performed to the best of my ability. It is fast becoming my favourite performance," she says. Ask Urmila about her clothes in the song (The question goes: Is she wearing any?) and she chuckles, "I am wearing 'some' clothes! So please wait and watch…" Ganesh Hegde, the choreographer of the film, is pretty upbeat about making Gabbar's character dance in this version. Gabbar is shown romancing Urmila's character in the film. He also adds, "Abhishek was very lively throughout and Amitji's one-liners were real killers!" The entire cast and crew insist that Aamir Khan has been the film's director from day one. Tisca Arora, for instance, who has landed herself a plum role in Aamir Khan's Taare Zameen Par insists that it was always Aamir Khan who was the director of the film. (Incidentally, Tisca is the girl who made her debut with Ajay Devgan in Platform and was recently a knock-out as the most off-key singer ever on the music contest Fame Gurukul). Tisca describes the experience of being directed by Aamir as an eye-opener. "He's a wonderful human being and great person to work with. Taare Zameen Par belongs to the genre of Rang De Basanti and Swades." Remind her of the fact that Amol Gupte was earlier directing Taare Zameen Par, and Tisca goes blank. "As far as I'm concerned, Aamir was always directing Taare Zameen Par," she says. And then quickly moves on to her favourite topic - her role. "There are only four principal characters in the film, and I am one of them. I play the boy Darsheel Safary's mother," says Tisca. However, we do know about the huge talent search that was organised for the role, that is being played by Darsheel. And the auditions for the role was done by none other than Amol Gupte. In fact, it was Gupte who had then finalised this character. Things were fine for a while. However, towards the end of the first schedule of the film, the time when they were shooting at New Era school in Panchgani, Aamir and Amol started having serious differences of opinion. The film had been offered to Amol Gupte in the first place as Aamir has known Gupte right from the time when the actor was acting in Ketan Mehta's Holi, where Amol was one of Mehta's assistants. The story was conceptualised by Amol. It's the story of the friendship between a father and his son who suffers from dyslexia. The script has been written by Amol. Aamir had loved the subject and not only agreed to act in the film but also agreed to produce it. Amol was the director initially. However things did not go according to Amol's plan, and later Aamir took over as the director. The couple is currently working together in Ajay's directorial venture U Me Aur Hum after Raju Chacha which released in 2000. Post-motherhood, this will be for the first time that Kajol will be working with hubby Ajay. Incidentally, the entire cast and the crew had to shoot in a luxury cruise for 15 days and the couple decided that they would take their little daughter Nysa with them because she is too small to stay all alone. A source reveals, "Kajol is extremely caring and so is Ajay. They make it a point that when Kajol is shooting, Ajay is with Nysa and vice versa. But, this is an awkward situation as both Ajay and Kajol will be shooting together. So, they decided to take the baby with them. The baby will with Kajol in a separate cabin, because Ajay will be busy directing the film." This romantic film also stars Sumeet Raghvan, Karan Khanna, Divya Dutta and Isha Sharvani. Kajol has already made a comeback in films post-motherhood, but she is still taking it slow as she wants to give all her time to Nysa. The buzz is that Ajay has also organised a mini - playhouse for Nysa. "He is such a loving father. He might come across as a very reserved person, but he loves his family. Ajay is very protective about Nysa and he makes sure that she gets the best," says our source. The couple will be shooting some crucial scenes and a song sequence in the cruise liner. Incidentally, Ajay had to take salsa lessons with Kajol for this particular song sequence. There were also some rumours that the film is based on Nicholas Sparks' romantic novel, The Notebook. However, Ajay in a press statement, clearly refuted the allegation saying that the script is original and has been written by Robin Bhatt, Sutanu Gupta and Akash Khurana. It’s a biggie Santoshi, who is currently finishing post-production work on his upcoming film Halla Bol (also starring Devgan), says, “We haven’t finalised the title as yet, but yes, Ajay has agreed to play Ashoka. It will be a mega-budget film along the lines of the Hollywood film Gladiator, on the life and times of Ashoka. Our research on Ashoka is complete and we hope to roll in August this year. We expect to complete the film in one schedule by December 2007. As for Ajay, he is very excited about the film. In fact, he says this script is by far the best he had heard in all these years.” The actress who plays Ashoka’s wife hasn’t been finalised yet, adds Santoshi. “She has to be a mix of Cleopatra and Delilah — a combination of sensuality and innocence. Though I have spoken to some established actresses, I am not sure if I want to cast a known name.” Relevant story Santoshi says the idea of making a film on Ashoka came to him while he was researching for another project on the Ramayana, which will begin next year. “I read lots of historical books and stumbled upon Ashoka’s story. His life is very relevant in today’s times, as it deals with the violence that forced a dramatic change in Ashoka after the Kalinga war. That’s when he embraced Buddhism and non-violence. Ashoka’s philosophy about peace and non-violence is the need of the hour today, and has even been referred to in books by HG Wells.” So will Ajay go bald after his character adopts Buddhism? “No. We must remember that Ashoka was also an Emperor who had to do his worldly duties.” Aiming high Santoshi is planning a lavish set designed by Nitish Roy, and adds, “The film will be shot in the forests of India as well as Thailand, Leh, Ladakh and Laos. We are sparing no effort to make it one of the finest and most authentic historical films on the emperor. We are also using the finest technicians: the research and costumes has been done by Loveleen Baines, make-up is by Vikram Gaekwad, the script has been written by me and the cinematographer is Hemant Chaturvedi. We are trying to put together pieces of history. Since Ashoka ruled thousands of years ago, history is not very clear. A lot of research had to be done.” Alag hai! Another historical on Ashoka after Santosh Sivan’s 2001 film with Shah Rukh Khan is bound to create comparisons. But Santoshi says, “No, it will not. Our story is completely different. It starts with the Kalinga war and continues to travel through the fascinating and exciting journey of Ashoka’s life, when from Chanda Ashoka he became Dharma Ashoka. It’s a rare and unique storyline.” Will a period film work in today’s times? Says Santoshi, “Of course it will. I have narrated the story to all my technicians and they are extremely excited about it. I believe a good film always works. I am aware of all these rumours about Mr Bachchan wanting his role improved because of the war between Shah Rukh Khan and him. But trust me, I have seen how much SRK respects Mr. Bachchan. Mr. Bachchan's professionalism is legendary. I have been shooting with Shah Rukh and I will start shooting with Amitji in July." However, our source informs, "There is definitely some tension, and that's why Amitabh Bachchan has not yet started work on Bhootnath. In fact, Mr Bachchan has been busy shooting for other films that he had signed after Bhootnath. Bhootnath was supposed to be shot in December 2006. However, the film kept getting delayed. Amitji is yet to give a green signal to the film and he has asked both Ravi Chopra and Vivek to rework the script. In the US its a very poor performer IMO. Considering the YashRaj brand, hardly any biggies so far this year….its 10 day total is less than both Guru’s/SEI’s opening weekend and that to by about $200k ! Хвалит Анурага как режиссера и ругает как сценариста. Сильно, очень сильно хвалит Шилпу, еще хвалит Иррфана, Конкону и Кей Кея. Кангана и Шайни - по его мнению не в форме в этом фильме. После одного раза сложно что-нить сказать (но как воют - слышала... Хорошо воют, дайте два ), но в целом - приятная вещица для прослушивания отдельно от фильмы, интересно теперь, как сработает в фильме. Kar Salaam - это его Сония назвала быстрым? - несколько агрессивен и криклив, но вполне-вполне, думаю, после нескольких заслушиваний понравится больше - и представляю, как он впишется в фильму. Еще выделила Rishtey (душераздирающе прозвучало для меня) и Alvida. Все остальные заслушаю еще.

"He was unsure of which way his role would go. The film already had Abhishek Bachchan signed on. John was well aware of Abhishek’s close equations with both director Shaad Ali and the Yashraj banner. No way was he going to allow himself to be sidelined into the second-lead category," says a source. This is where Bobby, in need of big banners and a hand-up for his career, came in. "Bobby needed a Yashraj film at this point. He was ensured that his role wouldn't suffer because of Abhishek's presence. And to his credit Shaad Ali kept his word. Though he's extremely close to Abhishek, Shaad didn't once allow his friendship to come in the way of giving Bobby a fair deal. In fact, the reclusive Bobby had a ball shooting with Abhishek and Preity. Jhoom Barabar Jhoom will be his comeback films." As for John he has in principle decided not to do two-hero films. All his forthcoming films from Anurag Kashyap's No Smoking to Nagesh Kukunoor's Aashayein are solo-hero films. "Even Vivek Agnihotri's Goal, contrary to reports about an ensemble cast, is John's film all the way," reveals a source. He has his finger on the controversial pulse all the time and unerringly stages a coup, especially on the casting front. The shrewd filmmaker that he is, he also understands that the only way to get his favourite actor, Amitabh Bachchan, in his film even if he is not the pivotal character is to get his son Abhishek to play the lead. Ditto for son Abhishek. The best way to get Abhishek though not in a prominent role is to have him play second fiddle to the female lead to his wife Aishwarya! Whatever the strategic moves of RGV may have been, it has led to Sarkar 2 boasting a sizzling cast where Aishwarya gets added to the Sarkar pairing of Amitabh and Abhishek. In the sequel, Aishwarya the new Bachchan bahu plays the shrewd and manipulative wife of the new godfather, Abhishek. The sequel to Sarkar begins shooting next month, and will show Amitabh the erstwhile patriarch reduced to an advisory role. Weakened by an ageing body, he confines himself to the house while his son runs the family business and deliver his brand of vigilante justice, very much like Godfather 2 in which Al Pacino takes over from Marlon Brando. It is understood that Amitabh will be shown as reduced to a helpless old man who has only his experiences to hand down to his son, the new godfather. Wife Aishwarya will be the new don's backbone and whenever the going gets tough for Abhishek he leans on his tough wife. Abhishek will be shown struggling to retain his father's vice-like grip on the underworld businesses of the Nagre family. Naturally Aishwarya's character is of paramount importance in the sequel where her manipulative strength and womanly cunning will be displayed in her first role with some negative shades. Sources made it clear however that Aishwarya's character does not completely break out of the mould of a Bollywood leading lady. Not a totally negative character, she will strike a balance between her household work and the family business. Her character loves her family, but at the same time can be ruthless when it comes to the crunch. Вы правы, умнички вы мои - это в храме повязывается перед пуджей или во время, пандит-джи каждому, кто в числе заказывающих какой-то пуджи (их, конечно, много, и по всякому поводу) ,должен её повязать, обычно переплетённая из нескольких красная ниточка-верёвочка (сколько их у меня пообтёрлись на запястьях за эти годы!Надеюсь, не зря...), которая должна и оберегать, и просто то, что это красный цвет - священно.Оттенки могут варьиироваться от желтого до розового...Да, когда завязывается, обычно какая-то определённая мантра читается, т.е. по какому случаю.Некоторые родители собирают эти верёвочки порвавшиеся у деток, чтоб , собрав много, бросить в Гангу, это считается как бы благословением свыше.У молодожёнов что-то вроде временных обручальных колец, если они вместе, и руки ещё с хной, и эти ниточки - хороший знак для проходящих мимо, типа - на удачу.

Now we've heard that Preity's look in the film is based completely on Rekha - Rekha as she looked in her Silsila days, that is. Like her, Preity too sports heavy saris, sports long hair that is gathered over one shoulder, a big bindi. (Perhaps a pout too?) Preity has mentioned that her look in the film is "completely different" from her usual look. She has said that she looks very traditional Indian and 'softer' than usual here. The entire team was in Cannes for the film's world premiere with key member Irrfan Khan. Actor Aly Khan, who plays a small but significant role, arrived in Cannes as well. So did Arti and Kailash Surendranath, who handled the film's India shoot. British director Michael Winterbottom got his share of kudos for this intricately mounted film that unfolds in a strong documentary style. It follows the intense manhunt in Pakistan to trace the missing Wall Street journalist Daniel Pearl when he was kidnapped by jehadis in 2002. Soon after the 9/11 bombing, Pearl was on a dangerous assignment in Karachi to meet a man who could tell him more about the shoe bomber, Richard Reid. The film is based on Mariane Pearl's book which gives her own experience of those harrowing days, a time when she was six months pregnant with their first child. Finally, a video tape proves that Pearl had been decapitated by his captors. Her steel-hearted optimism collapses and gives way to a despairing fortitude. A Mighty Heart presents a personal view of the protagonist, showing Mariane's home, her coloured maid constantly hovering around, whose small child is a silent symbol of the world that today's children will be inheriting. Her husband's Wall Street colleagues and her writer friend Asra (Archie Panjabi) join in the search, which is taken over by the American diplomatic mission and the Pakistani counter-terrorism unit led by a man called Captain (Irrfan Khan). The role of Daniel Pearl is played by Dan Futterman (who wrote the script for Capote), appearing for most of the film in brief, warm flashbacks that convey the couple's close relationship. The film's press conference added dimension to its content and intent. Stealing its limelight was the French-Cuban Mariane Pearl herself, seated centre-stage, with Brad Pitt at one extreme and Irrfan Khan on the other. It was suprising to see the likeness between the real Mariane and Angelina Jolie. She spoke with the same terse dispassionate tone as Jolie did on screen. It was clear that she had the deep-seated courage, strength and humanity that the film conveyed. In a sincere, carefully prepared performance, Angelina Jolie's star image stays subservient to her role, enabling her to give a commanding performance that evokes respect. Director Winterbottom has taken pains to vividly portray the harsh, crowded, under-privileged settings in Karachi, suggesting that a country's misery breeds terrorism. The film was shot extempore when it came to the actors. Irrfan Khan told the press, "We were not given lines. We had to say what was intended in our own words. We were not even given markings on the floor as is usually done. Even the props kept changing in the same scene. Repeated takes only enhanced the spontaneity of what we felt and enacted". In the film and in real life, Mariane presents her tragic story as a universal one. When asked how it felt at the time it happened, she says that she will not share her personal feelings but points out clearly that on the day her husband was killed, so were ten Pakistanis under similar circumstances. In this powerful film she equates her sorrow with what the world is facing today. Фильм основан на книге Мариан Перл, которая передает ее собственные переживания в те ужасные дни, в то время, когда она на шестом месяце беременности оказалась в отчаянном положении. A Mighty Heart представляет личную точку зрения героини, которая с помощью коллег мужа и подруги пыталась разыскать мужа через Американскую дипломатическую миссию, и которая в этих розысках связалась с человеком, которого звали Капитан (Иррфан Кхан), связанным с Пакистанскими террористами. Роль Даниела Перла исполняет Ден Фаттерман, появляясь в фильме практически только во флешбэках. На пресс-конференции по поводу фильма присутствовала сама Мариан Перл, действительно очень схожая с персонажем Джоли на экране. Съемки проходили своеобразно: Рассказывает Иррфан - "У нас не было текста. Мы должны были сказать смысл фразы своими словами. У нас даже не было отметок на полу, как это обычно бывает."
