чтобы сниматься с ней. in one frame with her.

How does life look to you? I’m single, happy…I love my life. How single are you? I’m completely, blissfully single. Every hero I work with, I’m linked with. They’ve also been trying to link me with some Italian businessman. They found some half-baked picture on the internet. Rubbish! There’s no Italian or Indian boyfriend. I’m very happy to be alone. Is it embarrassing to be linked with married men? No! Not when they treat you like a chum. I never let it affect me. I do enjoy the company of men. And I’m not going to get inhibited at the thought of being linked with one of them the next morning. How’s your equation with Kelly Dorji? Wonderful. We’ve spent so many good years together. No one can take away those from us. Kelly and I know each other too well to drift apart. There’s a lot of mutual respect. And that will always remain. It’s very natural for the hurt to remain between a couple when a relationship as intense as ours ends. For a while, it was natural for both of us to withdraw. But that doesn’t stop us from looking out for each other. A relationship as long-lasting as ours goes way beyond a romantic notion. Are you looking out for another relationship? No, I’m not. There’s no one whom I’m even remotely interested in. And I’m in no hurry. After nine years, I’m alone. And I’m enjoying it. Right now, I’m so crazy busy. I’m running around like a headless chicken. I’ve just been trying to keep sane (laughs). I’ve been training vigorously for a film that I’m doing with Akshay and Sanju. I’m finally doing an action film. Akshay has asked me to be part of this film. This is a super-actioner. It’s called Blue because the producers wanted to keep it simple. Bhagam Bhag also had Govinda in it. Yes and I did Partner with him, though I wasn’t paired with him. Now we’re together in Ravi Chopra’s Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai. This is one of those rare films where the girl actually has something substantial to do. I’m actually there with Govinda throughout the film. It’s a completely different role, an authorised adaptation of My Cousin Vinny. And I play Marisa Tomei’s role. But I’ve got a lot more to do than Marisa Tomei had. Tomei got an Oscar for her performance. I’m getting there. It may happen one day. Good things are happening to you now. I guess everything happens in its own time. Now I’m a little more worldly wise. I don’t want to do films where I’m just a glam girl. So are you trying to scale down your glamour quotient? Sometimes it’s nice to go on the other side. I want to do films that give me a chance to grow. Like Sudhir Mishra’s Devdas which is a drama; again, unlike anything I’ve done before. You play Paro in Sudhir’s film. He has finally got his Chandramukhi. Yes! I’m so happy Chitrangada is playing Chandramukhi. Sudhir Mishra’s Devdas isn’t really a period film. It’s very literate and layered. I’d have to dig really deep into myself to play Paro. So far, I didn’t have to cross over to a darker side. Paro is a dark, ambitious, self-destructive character. I’m not that person at all. I’m going to have to do a Duggu (Hrithik Roshan) on everyday. Are you in a good place? Yes, I’ve learnt to focus on my own work. Your greatest competition should be yourself. The minute you look anxiously at others, you’re finished. I’m a mazdoor in a factory. I keep my nose to the grind.

Rulka: 30/03/08 “After all, the fairer sex always looks beautiful, irrespective of their years, in comparison to men,” says Bipasha. You play a model in Race . Were you reliving your modelling days? My character doesn’t come an iota close to my life. Modelling happens to be just a career for me. Did your steamy scene with Saif in Race fuel the link-up rumours? People are welcome to comment. I don’t let such rumours affect my life and neither do I pay much heed to them. How racy a life do you lead? Considering that I do a variety of things, I still manage to stay in touch with my family, friends, boyfriend and take care of my house... I lead a racy life! Would you join in the race of buying a cricket team a la Priety Zinta? Who knows? Maybe someday I will! And would you do a naach gaana on stage like Celina Jaitly? Many actors nowadays indulge in stage performances. If the stage is credible, the money worthwhile and the audience respectable, it shouldn’t pose a problem. Which cricketer would you like to be linked with? Since I have been subject to link-ups before, I wouldn’t mind being paired with anyone who is handsome and not a loser! How about choosing a team to cheer for? I will support the best team. What’s your take on the IPL and the ICL? Why are you asking me so many cricket questions? As of now, I don’t want to be a cricketer! Would you like to share your take on the Nana-Tanushree fracas on the sets of Horn Ok Pleassss ? Not really. I have no interest in others’ business. Lastly, would the sultry siren shed some light on her age? As long as one is accepted, irrespective of the profession, age is of little importance. I have never had any qualms about my age and I think it is time the media shifts focus from women to men. After all, the fairer sex always looks beautiful, irrespective of their years, in comparison to men. источник

Rulka: 30/03/08 If you’ve really made it big in Bollywood, you’re a star. Ditto for cricket. But, if you’ve really made it big in Bollywood and cricket, what would you be? That question hasn’t had a chance to pop up all these years. Till one Mr Khan put his money where his mouth was and supercharged the game with star power. After Shah Rukh Khan — whose presence at cricket stadia raised officious eyebrows till some time ago — stepped in, the rules of the game, to use a cliche, just got rewritten. SRK doesn’t think it’s a change of track, though, merely a natural extension. “But, I have always done it — been interested in and backed sports, that is. Once the basics of life are in place, in any society, increasing consumerism promotes entertainment, and the final foray in entertainment is towards sports as entertainment. I am primarily an entertainer, and maybe somewhere I am a frustrated sportsman myself. I wish I could have carried on, but because of injuries etc, I couldn’t.” Seems true enough. For someone whose core competence is entertainment, he’s the unquestioned mascot of hockey, post Chak De! India . He’s seen at polo and golf tourneys with increasing frequency, and pitched in for good friend Mallya to create a buzz for the latter’s F1 team. His photogenic presence at cricket stadia and his equation with the cricketing fraternity precede his current IPL drive. And, soccer lovers expect him to pitch in to promote soccer in Bengal with his team’s revenues. But, the current venture is really, really big money. Smart investor or a dreamer pursuing a sporting passion? “It’s more about dreams than business,” he says. “People only look at the successes that I have had and think I’m a skilled businessman. It’s all crap. I have faced a lot of failures. When I first started my production company, everyone wrote it off. When Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani was released, it was written off instantly, and I remember headlines that said ‘Dreams turn into nightmares’, ‘Dreams gone down in dumps’. And, I started an internet company that went into nothing, complete zilch,” he adds. Granted, but hasn’t he come to the point where he is a megabucks investor? “See, even when I have failed, I haven’t taken a loan, for my business sense says never a borrower be. I believe in what my mother told me — pair utne phailao jitni chadar hai . So, whenever I have had the chadar fall short, I have tried to stretch it by working more, by dancing more, by doing whatever it takes — but making sure that whoever has done a job with me, gets value for money. I’m old fashioned when it comes to money. I don’t even take an advance for a film that I do. I don’t do a business if I can’t afford it. Even the IPL investment — I have only been able to do because of all the guys who have come aboard and put in money with me. Hopefully, I will not lose here.” Is the funda about not borrowing money inspired by what superstars who have borrowed in the past have faced? Maybe, maybe not. Where’s the money coming from currently? “All the money that I got from Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain ? I have put into this project, just the way I took all the money I got from KBC and put it into OSO . Always the money goes back into work.” Always? “Yes. As a person, I am still very middle class. People don’t realise these things. Most of the black suits that I wear are the same. All the designer clothes I have are actually from my films. I don’t dream of Rolls Royce and things like that. People are kind enough to me to give me the nicest things in life, but it doesn’t mean that I’m used to them.” How big a brand do you want to be, Shah Rukh? “I don’t know what it means to be a brand. I do things exactly the way I have always done them. I sometimes read The Economic Times and figure out how big a brand I am, but the basics of brand building are the oldest cliches our parents tell us — be hardworking, be honest to yourself, be happy, and whoever you meet, make them feel they’re special.” While on parents, he also says he’s “like a child”. He doesn’t feel older, then? “I was shooting for an ad recently and there was a huge poster of Dil To Pagal Hai there, and I went and took a picture of myself standing next to it. You know, I think I look younger now than I did in that poster! I think like a kid, I’d like to be a kid all my life.” источник

Rulka: 03/04/08 • After Raju Chacha, why was Devgan Productions lying low till U Me Aur Hum? We were not getting the right script and besides, we needed all the time and attention at our disposal to start our next production after Raju Chacha. We all started howling when we heard an emotional script like U Me Aur Hum. But even then, I didn't see myself in it as an actress. It's only when Ajay started talking about the scenes that I told him that I am doing the film. I loved working in this film and am pretty kicked about it. • What do you play in U Me Aur Hum? How important is this film to you? I play a waitress on a cruise liner. My character's name is Piya who is a very normal girl. As for the second part of your question, of course, this film is very important to me. In fact, this is our most ambitious project till date. We are expecting a lot from it. Let's see how it goes. • What is the feedback on Rock N Roll, which you're judging for Zee TV? I have received very good feedback. Ajay, my mom (Tanuja) and I agreed to judge Rock N Roll because we loved the concept. I am not boasting, but trust me the show is doing quite well. • But how is it that the three of you end up giving the same marks to the contestants on almost every occasion? We haven't worked at that but I guess that we all think alike as we are family. Moreover, we have been pretty fair, and I think that is most important. • Why is it usually so tough to get you to do an interview? But when your film is releasing... I have done interviews even when my films aren't on the verge of a release. I should have something to talk about na? • So, is it that you see the media as an evil necessity? Hmmm... I see it as a necessity for sure especially when I want to promote my upcoming films. But otherwise, it's very evil (laughs). Well, not really. Like we all grow, the media too has grown. We are bound to have paparazzi, and we shouldn't hide our faces in the sand to run away from reality. • So, are you saying that you are comfortable with the media? With so many media persons intruding into an actor's life, no actor can be completely comfortable with the media. But yes, one needs to accept that situation and take measures to safeguard one's privacy. • Ajay has a problem if you work with Shah Rukh Khan? The thing is that Ajay and I are too busy with our individual lives and we don't attend parties and go out for dinners, and as a result, Shah Rukh and Ajay don't end up crossing paths. Since neither of them has denied or confirmed anything, these rumours haven't died down. Lekin sach mein, aisa kuchh nahin hai. • So are you working with Shah Rukh in Karan Johar's My Name is Khan? Karan has approached me for the same and we are talking about it. • There's too much of Shah Rukh in the film? I haven't heard the full script as yet. • Karan is going around saying that you are doing it? I haven't yet agreed to do it. It will be unethical on my part to say that I am doing the film until I sign on the dotted line. • Rajkumar Hirani wanted you to do his next film, Idiot? Yes, but I didn't think that I was the right choice for the role. I love Hirani as a director and have told him to come up with another role for me in the future. • You are said to be short tempered. Have you changed? Yes, I have learnt to control my temper. I think it all began when I conceived my daughter (Nysa). I wouldn’t say that I have achieved nirvana but I have changed from what I was when I began my career at the age of 16. • Is your cousin, Rani Mukherji is getting married to Aditya Chopra? I have no right to comment on Rani's personal life. Frankly, I have no idea if they are getting married or not. I wish them well anyway. • Have you been in touch with her? We last saw you together in Karan's chat show, Koffee with Karan. It is believed that you two have a cold war going on. Please! There is no cold war between us. What do you think we are? America and Iraq? I meet Rani at the Durga puja and she is a sweet girl and a fine actress.

Murder, Kalyug, Zeher, Awarapan, Gangster, Jannat, Raaz 2 - Each of these films has two common factors to them - Bhatt brothers and Emraan Hashmi. Over the period of time, not just have these films (with an exception of Jannat and Raaz 2 which are yet to be released) turned out to be box office or critical successes, they have also helped both Vishesh Films and Emraan Hashmi show a constant progression. All this makes one wonder if young Emraan Hashmi has pretty much settled down to the fact that it's this association which would form a major part of his career? Or has he ever thought of exploring new avenues? "It's all speculation that I am interested in doing films only for Bhatt saab. It isn't only Vishesh Films for me. Yes, I share a great comfort level with them; there are no two thoughts about this. But just like the way they too are making movies with other actors (Dhokha, Showbiz), even I am working with other filmmakers", says Emraan Hashmi. Well, one does miss the fizz when either of the two do not work with each other. Both Dhokha and Showbiz bombed at the box office while Hashmi too hasn't quite been lucky with his non-Bhatt films like The Train or Good Boy Bad Boy which released last year. "I don't intend to blame the director of Good Boy Bad Boy, there were so many factors which went against the film. However, it was a case of the final product turning out to be different from what was written on paper. However, I still have no regrets about doing the film as I was mighty excited about the plot. Anyways, I am learning from the mistakes. It always helps when a project of your fails since you start looking at reality. It makes you realize where you have gone wrong and brings you back to reality", introspects Hashmi. Adds Hashmi, "When you are on a high, you enjoy all the accolades coming your way. You seem to be doing everything right and get into a little relaxed mode. However, with highs like these, it is only good to have lows. Professionally, it was a low in 2007 since I was most hurt about Awarapan not working in the way I was expecting it to. " "Anyways, thankfully there was some good critical appreciation coming my way, so no damage done. I now have my Jannat to look forward to. Hopefully it will get me critical as well as mass acclaim", winks Emraan.

Rulka: 05/04/08 Is Ajay going to rock the boat? Can't say at the moment. But I am pretty confident that the film will do well and complete the journey comfortably. Keeping my fingers crossed. Was the journey smooth throughout or were there any 'phool aur kaante' while filming? (Laughs) Actually, there were few 'kaante's' but we jumped over it and completed our journey quite smoothly. Hopefully, the film will blossom like a flower after its release. You and Ajay are coming back after a gap of 8 years. Wasn't it like you were working with a new comer? No, not at all. And we are coming back together after 7 years. Working with Ajay is always a new experience because he is so unpredictable when it comes to sharing screen space with his co-stars and even the newcomers. Having seen the promos, the film doesn't really speak about the plot. Don't you think people, now-a-days, see the film only if they like the promos? If the trailer isn't giving much away, doesn't mean that the film is not worth watching. You throw in a song and some dialogues to make a promo. But that's not all. I think if the people want to go and watch the film, irrespective of the promos, they will go. Kajol will always be remembered as a bubbly and a chirpy actress on screen. So what's so different about you in U, Me Aur Hum? Everything is. I am bubbly, chirpy and a lot more. But the lot more, you will only come to know after the film comes out. What more? Don't you worry. There is still more. Why Vishal Bharadwaj, an unconventional music director for a fun loving film like U, Me Aur Hum? We took Vishal for the simple reason that he is a good music director and more importantly also a director of many films. You will love the music of the film, which you are right, is not the typical Vishal Bharadwaj music, but that's why you'll like it. And what have you got to say about your experience working with a new director? The director is new. Not the person. Working with Ajay the director is to learn many things, which I haven't, learn before from my directors. He has a different take, belief, and style of working. U, Me Aur Hum is the trump card and not Ajay Devgan or Kajol. The film is the real hero. источник

Rulka: 04/04/08 Ranbir Kapoor Bollywood's latest poster boy of romance, Ranbir Kapoor, gives you advice that works. And it doesn't hurt to get a body like his. Romance runs in Ranbir Kapoor's veins-his father Rishi Kapoor was synonymous with the word in his heydays. To turn himself into a package women would love to get their hands on, the Saawariya star also worked hard on his body before stepping in front of the camera. Add to that his innate sense of chivalry, and you know why this self-confessed shy guy appeals so much to the girls. Take a leaf out of his book. On popularity among girls I think the best way to handle female attention is to enjoy it. God has been kind to me. I worked hard on my first film and girls like me. But isn't that the whole idea of being an actor? To enjoy female adulation? Seriously, you must smile and be natural around girls. The best way to let a girl know you're interested in her is to be spontaneous and to listen to her closely. On chivalry Even in this day and age, being chivalrous is good. It never went out of style. Personally, on a date, I don't like it if the girl offers to pick up the tab. I am old-fashioned in this regard. On romance By being romantic, you don't lose your macho touch and image. I love to be romanced and to romance. I've never done anything crazy in my life but once my tooth was really hurting and my girlfriend at the time kept her hand by my cheek the whole night. I was touched to see her when I woke up in the morning. But be aware of the fine line between being romantic and corny. Quotes that Ranbir lives by 'Handsome is what handsome does' An adage his mother keeps repeating 'I like walking in the rain so no one can see me crying' Said Charlie Chaplin 'Somewhere something incredible is going to happen' Says his T-shirt 'Don't take success to your head or failure to your heart' Says his father 'I love acting. It's so much more real than life' Said Oscar Wilde On health goals I don't have any major problems, thanks to my mother's blessings and a healthy diet. But we do have a history of weight and arthritis from my father's side. I am mindful of that. You should take care of yourself when you are young and healthy. Get 8-10 hours of sleep a day, along with following a balanced diet. Get involved in some form of exercise or sport. For me, at 25, life is one big party. But you have to cultivate good habits now, not leave it till you are 50. This is the right time to decide your plan of action regarding your career and health, and create a perfect balance between both. Only then will you grow older in good health. On weight control My face tends to plump up very quickly, but thankfully, any extra weight I gain does not stick so easily on my body. I find it hard to put on muscle, but I can lose weight easily. But excess carbohydrates, fatty foods and alcohol all show up on my face. However, even if you don't have that problem, you should avoid an excess of all these things. When I shoot for a film, I cut salt out of my diet and shun carbs after 7pm. When I'm not working, I'm not so hard on myself, though. I've inherited a passion for food from my father-Peshawari, pastas, junglee mutton, everything appeals to me. Thanks to my dad's keen interest in food, I have even eaten ox's knuckles in New York. My mother, on the other hand, pushes me to go to the gym whenever I'm lax and she also keeps an eye on my diet. Together, it's a good balance of food and exercise. More than your gym routines, it's eating right that matters. Don't stuff yourself: five to six small meals a day are perfect. On a diet plan My diet plan is designed by my mother. I start the day with a glass of sweet lime juice, followed by a vegetable juice made of spinach, bottle gourd or carrots. My breakfast consists of two egg whites and a slice of wholewheat bread. A protein shake mid-morning comes next. Lunch is a glass of flax seeds in water and some grilled chicken, vegetables with two chapatis made of bran, nachni, besan and jowar flour and some brown rice. I don't have tea or coffee but a protein shake or a vegetable or chicken sandwich around 4pm. Dinner is largely the same as lunch, sans the carbs. I eat junk food, too, but don't overdo it. And no, I don't work out harder after a night of bingeing. On his philosophy I'm not the fighting sort, as I've grown up in an environment where there has been discord between my parents. Personally, I'm a peacemaker, very Gandhian in my approach. I read a brilliant saying once: "Instead of putting people in their place, try and put yourself in their place." Having an opinion is great, but there is no need for a screaming match-at home or elsewhere. You can have a healthy discussion over a cup of tea. On drastic physical changes I'm playing characters my own age, so drastic physical changes are not required. At the same time, though I've been blessed with good genes, I wouldn't take my looks for granted. It's all about constant reinvention. Charming a girl in 10 easy steps 1 Smile 2 Listen to her 3 Appreciate her 4 Be chivalrous 5 Be protective, not obsessive 6 Give her space 7 Smile wider 8 Make time for her 9 Make her feel like the most beautiful girl in the world 10 Then stop smiling...the girl's charmed! On unwinding After a long day, there's nothing like a hot shower, loose boxers, good food and television to unwind. You should try hot showers. They are great! On vanity It's important to be vain. Work on your look so that you are not insecure about your appearance. This involves both grooming and fitness. You might even get a pedicure and manicure. I do, and I think it's hygienic rather than sissy. Don't go as far as plucking your eyebrows, though. Looking after yourself and developing your style is not just a woman's domain, it's yours, too. On having a good behind My butt looks good in the film because of the lights and the camera, though I think I have a flat behind! I do believe women check out male behinds, because it's a visual treat for them, though I myself haven't had the pleasure of being checked out yet! But if you catch a lady looking, compliment her eyes and engage her in conversation. And to make sure you are in that position, build your butt with squats and lunges (3 sets and 15 repetitions each) and increase the weight till you maximise the strength to tone your glutes. And don't forget the moisturiser! On fashion Set your own trends. Expensive doesn't necessarily mean fashionable. The towel is a fashionable thing to talk about after I dropped mine in Saawariya! Get fit with Rranbir RK recommends Chest press Why it's good for him: Gives him that big chest for the fragile heroine to lay her head on. How you should do it: To bulk up a puny chest, do it with a barbell. To achieve more muscle definition, do it with barbells, on either an incline or a decline bench. RK recommends Squats Why it's good for him: Helps build powerful legs above those dancing shoes. How you should do it: Free squats (without weights) mainly work your upper legs. Squats with weights add resistance to your workout, lead to muscle mass and strengthen your lower back muscles. Keep your back straight while doing squats with weights. RK recommends Pullups Why it's good for him: Works his triceps and shoulders. How you should do it: Strengthening these two muscle groups helps your overall workout. Close-grip pullups work the triceps and inner chest; shoulder-width works your shoulders more; and wider than shoulder-width works your lats and trapezius muscles. RK recommends Pushups Why it's good for him: Again works his arms and chest. How you should do it: This is a great exercise for strength gain. Depending on whether you place your palms close together or at shoulder-width, you work various muscles of the upper body. RK recommends Crunches Why it's good for him: Gives him the flat abs that ladies love. How you should do it: Crunches work your upper abs. To get a muscular midriff all over, alternate them with leg raises. You could also vary the crunches routine for your lower abs. Instead of placing your feet on the floor, place them on a chair (legs about mid-calf at the edge of the seat) and bring your torso up. RK recommends Bent-over barbell row Why it's good for him: Strengthens the lats and upper back. How you should do it: A variation of the upright barbell row, you bend over from the waist so that your back is parallel to the ground. Now lift and lower the barbell without rounding your back, which is essential for injury prevention. RK recommends One-arm rowing Why it's good for him: Stretches and strengthens the lats. How you should do it: It's important to have strong, well-defined lats, both for looking good and also to have a strong back. Use heavy weights to gain bigger arms. RK recommends Side lateral raises Why it's good for him: Gives him drool-worthy deltoids. How you should do it: Broad, muscular shoulders separate boys from men, and these dumbbell exercises help you achieve well-rounded and powerful deltoid muscles to fill out your stretch tee. RK recommends Running on mud Why it's good for him: Works his calves. How you should do it: Nice quads can't look good on matchstick calves. This exercise, which forces you to grip the ground more tightly with every step, exerts extra pressure on the calves and hardens these muscles.

Rulka: 09/04/08 What made you take to direction when you were at the peak of your acting career? It's true that I was busy with my acting career but I always wanted to do something different. When I got this idea (about the film) I started working on it and narrated it to Robinda (Robin Bhatt). We all shaped it up and decided to make this film and that's when I decided that I will direct it too. It was not an impulsive decision. Your decision to turn director many people… I had this idea about three years ago, and when I actually started working on it, I started getting calls from a lot of people but I kept denying it. I announced it only after I was completely ready. Who thought of the title, U Me Aur Hum? This was Kajol's idea. The film was earlier titled Tum, Main Aur Hum but then Robinda changed it to U Me Aur Hum. The film has everything in it, music, emotions and comedy. I am confident that it will do well. Was Kajol the obvious choice? When I narrated the script to Kajol, she got very excited and immediately told me that she wanted to do it. I was more than happy as there is no one better than Kajol. I sincerely believe that it's her best role so far and it is her best performance till date. Even though she is the producer of the film, she didn't have a chance to give creative inputs (Laughs). You have an image of an action image but there is no action in U Me Aur Hum… I have followed the script. There was no action in Golmaal but it worked. There was no action in Hum Dil de Chuke Sanam. I believe that if you make a good film, it will surely work at the box-office. Now that your film is on the verge of releasing are you feeling the pressure? Where is the time to be nervous? My work just got over yesterday. I may start feeling the pressure from tomorrow. Have you signed London Dreams? Yes I have, as both the characters, including Salman's, are very good. I had issues with the earlier producer but after Vipul took over, he asked me if I would do it, and I immediately agreed. The buzz is that you and Rajkumar Santoshi are no longer friends Not true. We have no problems. He still has my dates, but if I've not met him it's because I have been busy with my film. But I don't know what he wants to make next, Ramayan or Asoka. Are you playing the modern day Karna in Prakash Jha's Rajniti… Yes, I am playing the modern day Karna in Rajniti. Prakash Jha has a fantastic script and it is an exciting character. He has woven the basic premise of Mahabharata in modern day politics very deftly. Кто придумал название U Me Aur Hum ? Фильм раньше назывался Tum, Main Aur Hum, однако потом Robinda изменил на U Me Aur Hum.

Rulka: 16/04/08 Controversies seem to dog Vivek Oberoi wherever he goes. Ever since he entered B-Town, he has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. What made it worse was that the actor never defended himself. His family and friends say that VO is the most misunderstood person in B-Town. For the last year, he has been hiding behind a wall of silence (or indifference) but today, he’s looking at the positive side of things. He has signed Karan Johar’s next production, Mission Istanbul is almost complete and a “big film” is in the pipeline. Here, in a heart-to-heart, the actor clears the air. Read on… Recently there was a rumour of you flirting with your dinner host’s gal and getting slapped. Comment. Someday if I ever write a book on The Craziest Rumours That I Have Heard About Myself this would be No 173. Jokes aside, it’s absolutely untrue. The story was upsetting as it made me out to be a sleazeball. I have tremendous respect for women. Anybody who knows me can vouch for that. My mother (Yashodhara) — is my hero. I would never do anything that would make her ashamed of me. It wasn’t you? I heard it was about some other actor but whoever the actor might have been, if he did what he did, he deserved to get slapped. Alcohol or no alcohol there is no excuse for misbehaving with a girl. You’ve had link-ups with women ever since your break-up with Aishwarya… Well, I hope so. After all, I am a normal, single man (laughs) When I was in both my serious relationships (Gurpreet Gill and Aishwarya Rai) I was very committed. But now that I am single, I am allowed to date, ain’t I? I enjoy the company of women but I don’t misbehave with them. Without meaning to sound arrogant I think I am decent looking and charming enough to have female attention. Your apology to Salman has been called a gimmick... I was on a high after the success of Shootout At Lokhandwala so I didn’t need to indulge in such stunts. It wasn’t out of necessity that I did it (apologised to Salman.) I felt that it was the right thing to do. It would be cowardly to publicly accuse someone, then privately say ‘hey I am sorry.’ I wanted to crush that little ego that was lurking inside me. If I am wrong, I am wrong and I let the world know that. That gives me strength. It’s unfair to call it a publicity stunt. Anything I do is taken as contrived. I am being constantly attacked. I can’t spend my life clarifying every rumour. It’s a bhed chaal, ‘let’s get out and get this guy’. Maybe because you did charity and spoke about it too often… I have decided that even though I am the brand ambassador of many causes, I won’t speak about them, as I don’t want the causes to suffer. I get bashed for everything I do. I have been fortunate to do God’s work in many ways and thought that by speaking about it, I would get more people involved, which did happen. But then it backfired — if I built houses for the tsunami victims, people said I did it for publicity; when I sponsored children for heart surgery, they said I did it for publicity! Dudes, life is a lot more than that! You also got bashed for attending Teji Bachchan’s funeral. Was it wise, given your history with Ash? It was sad and in bad taste that it was made out to be such a media story. The Bachchans are such a dignified family and she (Teji) was such a dignified lady. Abhishek and I share a warm relationship, and we have respect for each other. We have worked and hung out together. I am really fond of him and I am sure he is of me too. Apart from being my colleague and a part of the fraternity I was also informed about it (Teji’s funeral). Apu (Apoorva Lakhia) is also a common link and they were aware that I was coming. I went there (Teji Bachchan’s funeral), paid my respects and the gesture was reciprocated. This is what we do in our industry. In the past, as a part of the film industry, I might have been the bad son but I have mended my ways. I believe it’s a fraternity and family and I am doing everything that I can to set things right and that’s why I share good relations with people today. After Kaal, you are working for another Karan Johar production. Yes. Karan’s not only one of the biggest producers we have in the industry, but also creatively one of the finest and best directors to work with. Karan and I are friends aside from being professionals and he’s always advising me on clothes, fashion, looks, styling etc. I have been conscious about my looks only recently. I had this phase when I didn’t really care how I looked. Friends like Karan have made me aware. Now I feel good about myself. It feels good to be in great shape, to look good and dress up. Karan’s a big part of that. He’s my fashion godfather. Are you trying to get close to SRK via Karan? Work is work, and relationships are relationships. The reason that I am doing Karan’s film is because Rensil’s script is fantastic. If my sole objective were to get close to Shah Rukh, which is silly as I already share a certain degree of closeness with him, then I would have done Om Shanti Om, which was his film. Shah Rukh (or God, as I fondly call him from the time we did Saathiya) and I have always shared a lovely relationship. Shah Rukh and Gauri have always welcomed me to their home and have been there for me. I love partying with them and it’s a great equation we share. I will attend Shah Rukh’s IPL match in Kolkata on April 20 to cheer Shah Rukh and his Kolkata Knight Riders. It was said that Sanjay Dutt was upset with you because you tried to flirt with his wife Manayata. These were unfortunate, baseless and untrue rumours. That’s not my upbringing. I have too much love, respect and awe for Sanju sir. He’s too gracious and large-hearted to believe such rubbish. It’s the people in between who try to feel important by creating mischief. You have completely disassociated yourself from everyone in the industry. Why? I decided to retreat behind silence because whatever I did, or didn’t do, I was attacked. I am happy to be working with people who are like family to me. I have developed these amazing relationships with many people from my fraternity who have begun to see who I really am. I have gone through this entire evolution and I share a fantastic rapport with many people now. I feel now that I have had enough, people have had enough, so they just let me be. I am putting my head down and working hard. Did you chicken out of doing stunts for Mission Istanbul? It’s the opposite. Action director Allan Amin nicknamed me Tiger ever since I shot the first action sequence for Company in Kenya. He asked me to jump from one building to another with a road in between — no cable, safety net or box — and even before he could set it up, I had leapt across. He told me I am a tiger who needs to be kept in control. Now only when safety’s ready does Allan allow me to do stunts. I am an adrenaline junkie. They have to curb me. Apparently, your dad hiked your fees from Rs 75 lakhs to Rs 3.5 crore for Loot, upsetting producer Sunil Shetty. It’s a ridiculous rumour. My father doesn’t even talk money or negotiate anything. It’s unfair to drag him into this. I have a fantastic relationship with Anna, and he has too much respect for my father. I have a company, Serge Entertainment, which takes care of my contracts and fees. Dad does nothing but play golf. After 30 years of working so hard in this industry and acting in over 300 films dad deserves to live like a king, play golf and enjoy what he does. Do you feel that there’s a certain section working against you? Isn’t it obvious? It’s not just about a section, but a trend. All I am saying is give me a chance — what have I done so bad and drastic that people come after me all the time? I feel hurt and upset that I am being misrepresented all the time. I am human. I live with people who love me. I have friends and family who read things about me and feel hurt. When I come back home to find my mom and sister upset, I get upset and unhappy. Please continue… I was 24 when I came to this industry. I saw more fame, stardom and money in six months than most people had seen in their lifetime. I had it all in six short months and I made a few mistakes. But it was one big mistake (referring to the Salman Khan press con) that I made at 26 that turned my life upside- down. I am still paying for that… Why did you do it? I was crazily in love and didn’t think everything out. I made a mistake. I publicly and privately apologised for it because I thought if I have insulted someone publicly at a press conference then I should publicly apologise for it. If this makes me a bigger person, teaches me a lesson in humility and reduces my bad karma. I believe in karma and that I more than paid for it. источник

Rulka: 18/04/08 From a Miss Universe to a top star and a comic female actor to a brand ambassador for The Art of Living, Lara Dutta's packed a lot into her eight years of fame and five years in cinema. After packing a punch in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and Partner, she's now ready with a few surprises like doing her own action stunts for Blue and more. What are the other films that you are doing? I have just signed Shree Asthavinayak Cine Vision's Blueў¬ an action drama revolving around water-sports. Anthony D'Souza makes his directorial debut and Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, and Zayed Khan are my co-stars. Then there is Sudhir Mishra's Aur Devdas and two films with David Dhawan, of which the only thing I can reveal is that one is with Govinda. I may also be doing a film with Priyadarshan. Is the other David film the one written by Rensil D'Silva? I cannot answer that. Till a few years ago, stars would openly talk about their films to come. Today everything is confidential. Is this a good trend? I think that it is good not to speak out until everything is in place. This is the era of bound scripts and we usually accept films after hearing the first narration or draft. So it's better to wait till everything is concrete as it helps avoid controversies. Apart from the heroes, are you too doing some action in Blue? Yes, I am. In fact, Blue is the first Indian film to revolve around water-based sports. We will be shooting in the Bahamas among other locations and for over a month now, Akshay, Zayed, and I have been training for the action sequences. Bhagam Bhaag, Partner, Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai and the other David Dhawan film - you seem to be doing a lot of films with Govinda. Yes, but BandaЎ¦ is a bit different, because in that comedy we are meant to be an odd pair! You are also doing a lot of comedies. I am very happy to be known as a comic actor. In the last five years all the great comedies have done well, and five of the best and most successful - Masti, No Entry, Phir Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhag and Partner - have been mine. I am honored to have been thought of, for these films by directors who are the kings of comedy. It's also great that David and Priyan are coming back to me. I think that no other heroine has had such a streak as a comic actor in such a variety of comedies. In India, however, comic actors are not rated highly though comedy is the most difficult part of acting. I agree that comedy is tougher to do than anything else. But it's great to know that perceptions are changing. A few years ago, it was drama but now the success ratio of comedies is much more. Now some of the best actors are comic actors, and I have been lucky to work with actors who are brilliant at comedy, from Govinda to Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan and Paresh Rawal. Pareshji in particular has taught and guided me a lot. How would you compare David Dhawan and Priyadarshan? They are both so good yet so different. With David, a lot of work is done on the sets, on-the-spot improvisations rule, and that means in the performance too. Priyan, on the other hand, knows exactly what he wants from the scene, and so everything is canned in one or two takes. But as an actor, I have to be very alert with both. Everything about comedy boils down to timing and improvisation and one look or glance and a slight change in your dialogue delivery can actually turn the whole character around. Actors from ramps or pageants fit into two categories - those who accept offers after their wins and turn serious actors only later, or those who use this route as a passport to films. What about you? I knew that I wanted to be an actor since I was 13. But since I lived in Bangalore, faraway Mumbai was just a dream. When I ended up winning the Miss Universe contest, I got offers straightaway and I thought that I should not look a gift-horse in the mouth! But you cannot blame the industry and the audience for slotting a girl from the glamour world. It is up to the actor to get the identification with her work and establish a link that goes beyond the Miss Universe tag by doing different, normal roles. And was Andaaz the right debut? Of course it was! Unless I could have got a debut vehicle like Deepika Padukone did in Om Shanti Om! Are there any films you regretted doing? There were, but at least they taught me lessons early, so that I do not make mistakes now. I am very happy with what I have achieved and am in no hurry, I am not into the numbers game and I want to have fun. I am growing as an actor and I don't obsess about a big film being made without me! And which are your special favorites? My turnaround film was Boney Kapoor's No Entry. It not only opened up many doors for me but also became special as Boney Kapoor asked me to choose between the role I eventually did and Bipasha Basu's character. I thought that there was a greater challenge in playing a suspicious wife, and also Bipasha's role was broadly on the same lines as my character in Masti. You talked about the numbers game. But Kajol recently said that but for a few male exceptions the era of the star-system is over. Would you agree? She is right in a way. A star by definition is unreachable. A film star is someone who earlier was only seen in a film. If he or she did only one film in a year, the audience would have to wait. Now the exclusivity isn't there - stars are accessible and are seen daily on television and in ads. And ever since the '70s, the heroes have always had the upper hand. One of the biggest shocks of 2007, though a pleasant variety, was your performance in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom. How did that happen? Anyone who enters the film industry today, wants to work with Yash Raj Films. And Yash Uncle and Aditya had promised me that when they had the right role for me they would call. And it happened in a very bizarre way - JBJ's offer came when both my parents had been hospitalized and I was sitting outside their rooms. I was completely distraught and recall telling them that I could not talk about anything for five days, which was really crazy as I had wanted to work with them for years! What also made JBJ special is that Adi and Shaad Ali wanted only Lara Dutta, which was a first for me, because it was not a case of which good-looking female actor was available on some scheduled dates! This made me want to give more than 100 per cent. You are endorsing Sri Ravi Shankar's The Art of Living. How involved are you personally with this? I am certainly not just a celebrity pushing something. I was introduced to this by a friend eight years ago, and whatever I am doing is voluntary and unpaid and only because it worked and still works for me. I have been following the techniques since and it's a wonderful de-stressing tool. It helps you focus and also deal with everyday pressures. When I became a celebrity I was just 21 - and that's not an age at which you are mature enough to deal with the pressures and the competition. Making your mark and becoming a go-getter is important, but this technique allows you to do that in a proper, stress-free manner and in the right way. It veers you away also from dangerous things like crash diets and eating disorders. When both my parents were ill, it helped me a lot too. So what exactly are you doing as their ambassador? It's like this: Yoga has been around for ages, but it took a Madonna for it to be recognized in the West. Celebrities make a difference. Right now I will be going to New Zealand with the teachers. New Zealand has the highest suicide rate among youth in the world and the people there do not know how to deal with this. We will be initiating the youth there into ancient Indian techniques like 'Pranayam' and Meditation, amongst other things. We will be interacting in a big way with the government authorities as well as the media. I have already gone with their teams to a few places like Abu Dhabi and Dubai. But again, all this is because I have benefited and I know that others will too. ¬Ъ¬г¬д¬а¬й¬Я¬Ъ¬Ь

Rulka: 21/04/08 How do you feel about your comeback film Hope and a Little Sugar? ‘Comeback’ is a very shabby word. I don’t know why this word ‘comeback’ is used so commonly in the industry? Had I gone to some other planet? Haven’t many actresses in the past married, delivered babies and then continued to do films? Hope and a Little Sugar is simply my first film after the birth of my baby Ariana. Go on… Ashutosh Rana was there at the premiere. He was quite amused when some people were calling Hope and a Little Sugar my comeback film. When Britney Spears released an album after delivering her children, did anybody call it her ‘comeback’ album? Then why single out Bollywood actresses? Mahima with Bobby Mukherjee You have lost oodles of weight. Do you think you need to lose more? Not really. I am feeling very fit and fine. But yes, I need to get back to the gym. I haven’t exercised for a month as I was extremely busy promoting Hope and a Little Sugar. Do you think that the film should have been promoted more? I think we promoted it fairly well, considering the funds we had. What made you accept an English film? It was the role and Tanuja Chandra. It’s a very sensitive love story about a Sikh widow and a Muslim man. The backdrop is 9/11, and the story speaks of love and hope despite the hatred all round. Moreover, I wanted to work with foreign producers and experience their way of working. I have enjoyed the way they (Producers Scott Pardo Glenn Russow) have taken the film to the festival circuit- Los Angeles, Milan, New York and Pakistan. In LA and NY, Hope and a Little Sugar even won the Best Film award. Any funny experience while shooting for the film? If we want to go through a crowd here we say ‘Baaju hat’, but the foreign crew used to say ‘Make a hole’. Overall, Hope and a Little Sugar was a fascinating experience. You know, I signed the film on email. How about doing more films now? Of course. I have been getting film offers all along, but I have chosen to do selective work. Ariana is an angel in my life and I don’t want to leave my angel at home while I go out to work all the time. Have you signed any new films? Nothing yet. I am very clear in my head. I only want to do meaty roles. Did your husband Bobby see Hope and a Little Sugar? Yes, Bobby has seen it. He was here for the premiere. He was amazed at the way we celebrate cinema and he told me that it was for the first time that he wore a suit to see a film! It’s said that you usually stay at your mother’s place. This is another question which really irritates me. Bobby travels a lot for his work. Whenever he is in Mumbai, we stay at our Bandra house. Whenever he is out of town, I stay with my mom in Lokhandwala. What’s wrong in that? I am quite happy with this arrangement. I don’t have a mother-in-law and I wish I had one. Is Bobby fighting a legal battle for the custody of his two children? Yes, he is. But I wouldn’t like to talk about it. This is his personal matter and I think that every parent has a right to fight for the custody of his or her children. источник

Rulka: 18/04/08 Taare Zameen Par hasn’t been nominated for the IIFAs, what’s your reaction? IIFA rules and procedures, approved by the governing body, states that it is mandatory for a producer seeking nomination for an Award category, to make a formal application. If the formal application is not made, irrespective of the status and merit of the film, it does not become eligible for a nomination. Aamir as a producer, did not put in that formal application making it very difficult for IIFA to consider TZP in any category. As a brand ambassador did you think of inviting him personally? IIFA and I also as its Brand Ambassador spoke to Aamir personally on this issue, because we did not want his film to go unrecognised and possibly unrewarded. But he told us that it was against his principles with regard to award ceremonies. He wished to be excused and I think we should honour that. Much as though we would have wanted to accommodate his film, it would have gone against the principles of the IIFA regulations. It would have set a wrong precedent unfortunately, for producers, who were following the regulations of IIFA. I have expressed to Aamir how immensely we shall miss his presence. Your take on Aamir’s stand to boycott award ceremonies? This is Aamir’s personal take on the matter and I shall respect it. Have you watched the film? I have not. But have heard glorious talk about it. Aamir has invited us to come and see it. Unfortunately, all of us have been travelling extensively and in different directions. As soon as we are all in town together, we shall watch it. I am in touch with Aamir on this. Your reaction at TZP not being a part of IIFA? Yes, I am deeply disappointed. IIFA is in it ninth year. As the ambassador, how have you seen the show develop over the years ? What started off as another one-day award show has now developed into an important three-day event. Its growth as a brand and a movement has brought immense visibility not just to the Indian entertainment industry, beyond Indian shores, but also proved to be an asset to the host nation. Business forums in league with FICCI have added an enormous economic dimension to this event. I feel very proud of this fact and I wish it greater success in the future years as well. источник

Rulka: 19/04/08 How has marriage changed you? I’ve found a wonderful new family. Both my families provide me with more than enough happiness and security. Though I didn’t plan such a marriage, I wouldn’t want it any other way. It’s been wonderful on both the personal and professional fronts. I remember when I got engaged and returned to the sets of Jodhaa-Akbar, there was no change at all; nobody paid any attention. They thought it was another rumour. Love happened on the sets of your other costume drama, Umrao Jaan. (laughs) Now that you remind me of it, of course. Abhishek and I came together through Umrao Jaan and Guru. Abhishek says you were willing to let go of Pink Panther because his grandmother was critically ill. She wasn’t just his dadi but mine too. I wanted to spend as much time with her as he did. Actors are greedy people. They like to do all sorts of roles that come their way. However, I’ve never been one to detach myself from reality. I’d not want my family life to take a backseat to my work. I genuinely love my husband, his parents and my own parents. I want to be with my new family and get to know them better because I got to know them so late in life. I also know my professional responsibilities. On returning from my honeymoon, I went straight to the location for Jodhaa-Akbar. We want to spend time together. But we can’t let work suffer. When Pink Panther was offered, dadimaa was really unwell. During Jodhaa, I’d rush back to the hospital frequently. I was reluctant to take up Pink Panther. More so, because it was an international project. What do you mean? In India, the entertainment industry doesn’t only go by the commerce. We do operate from the heart. There’s room for domestic crises in our film industry. Overseas, one is under serious contracts. Though Abhishek encouraged me to take up Pink Panther, I made sure I left room in my contract for visits back home. I did want to experience Karwa Chauth and Diwali with family. I checked with my inter- national manager if I could come back if, God forbid, dadimaa were in an emergency. источник

Rulka: 22/04/08 Anil Kapoor created a buzz on Sunday when he said he “owns DLF which is the main sponsor.” Yesterday, he refused to wish Akshay Kumar luck for his Delhi Daredevils matches. We catch up with Anil for a chat on Indian Premier League (IPL), Akshay and the DLF ‘connection’. What is your connection with DLF (the official sponsors of the IPL)? There is no connection. I was pulling a fast one on the media when they asked me if I would like to own a team too. I won't buy any team kyun ki mein sabka baap hoon! It was a joke as I was in a great frame of mind as the whole atmosphere was thrilling with the crowd cheering us. Just go with the ruling party (laughs). What do you think of the IPL? I think it’s a very exciting prospect, one that holds a great future. But it’s also hard work. One has to put one’s heart and soul into it. I wish Shah Rukh and Preity all the best! I have always been a cricket buff. But today, with the T20 matches, cricket has just got more exciting! I watch a match whenever I get the time. You’re not wishing Akshay Kumar your Tashan co-star? Akshay doesn’t need any luck today, he is on a roll! And Akshay is only the brand ambassador of the Delhi Daredevils. He doesn’t own it while Shah Rukh and Preity do. Saif, Kareena and you were part of Tashan’s promotional event at the IPL match at Wankhede. However, Akshay was conspicuous by his absence. Yesterday, we were there as the Tashan team has a tie-up with Mumbai Indians. Akshay couldn’t attend as he has tied up with Delhi Daredevils as their brand ambassador so it would be a tricky situation for him to attend the match on Sunday or he would have flown down from Bangkok. How was the experience? It was phenomenal! One of my cricketing idols has been Sachin Tendulkar so it was great to cheer for him. My other cricket idols include Sunil Gavaskar, Virendra Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh and Dhoni. They are great to watch on the field. Ishant Sharma shows great promise. Shah Rukh’s son Aryan accompanies him for every cricket match but we have never seen your son Harsh. Main usko bol-bol ke thak gaya! Harsh doesn’t like cricket but is a football fanatic. He thinks football is cool. The modern and younger generation thinks cricket is for the masses. Tashan is yet another multi-starrer after Welcome and Race. Don’t you get tired of multi-starrers? No way! The more the merrier. I find it unsettling doing solo films. I am all for multi starrers and am available for them. Tashan is like a desi commercial and I enjoyed doing the role as it is unknown territory new director, new role, uncharted dimensions. I was nervous, anxious and exciting about the clothes, looks, character, producer and director, but I enjoyed every minute of it. источник

Rulka: 22/04/08 What do you think about the music of Tashan I think Vishal-Shekhar have done a great job. It’s very fun and youthful, it’s keeping the script of the film in mind. I think my favourite song is Challiya.I think I am being a bit selfish because it’s my song but the way we have shot it in Greece is fantastic and I think that’s the best song according to me in the movie. After that is Dil Haara it’s a song with me and Saif which is also shot in Greece at fantastic locations and it’s a great love song so I think I am partial towards these two. The music is great. What was it about this film that made you decide to do it I think it’s a tailor made role for any actress I think I am extremely lucky to get this role. It’s like a hero’s role it has action, romance, song, dance everything in it besides which I think it has a lot of closeness to me, the kind of girl she is, very headstrong, knows her emotions. I love the role, I love the character and I think it’s a great package of this huge commercial movie and being the only girl in it .I think I am extremely lucky to be getting this role. Can you tell us something about the character you are playing My character name Is Pooja Singh in the film, She is a complex character. It’s very different for a girl to play, I have never played a role like this before basically following her emotions, doing the right thing but ofcourse very sharp at the same time. The reason she is sharp is because of the circumstances she has gone through so whatever she does in the film has a very powerful reason behind it so it’s a strong character. Can you tell us what was the experience like working with Anil Kapoor I think with Anilji it’s the greatest experience ever because he knows me as a kid. He is like family to me my whole family and his family are really close. I think he is one of India’s finest actors I think I learn a lot working with him. The way he has played this character he’s made this movie, its just unbelievable. Every time I work with him my mouth is like left open see him perform. Can you tell us what was the experience like working with Akshay Kumar I have done about 9 movies with Akshay and I have known him since he has done his first film. When he was given his first shot I was behind the camera so that’s the relationship I have with Akshay, its an emotional relationship, I am the most comfortable with Akshay Kumar as a co-star maybe because he has seen me in my school uniform with two pigtails hanging around so it’s a relationship which I think you feel really close to. As of today he is completely rocking, he’s the shinning star of Bollywood. It feels great because I have been with him through the journey of his career and I feel really happy. He is a pivotal part of this film which is a great role for him and I think working with Akshay for me is always fun and games, it’s great. When we start shooting and when we finish you never get to know. Throughout my career I think I have enjoyed working with Akshay Kumar the most and I hope to continue to work with him throughout my career. Can you tell us what was the experience like working with Saif Ali Khan Saif is one of the most respected actors. As an actress I respect him the most as an actor, he’s one of India’s finest that we have. I think he can do any role and the way he has played this role is just unbelievable the kind of nuances he adds to his character, the way he speaks and modulates his voice I think you can just learn so much from him besides being a fun loving person its so nice and warm to work with him as a co-star. I get really intrigued when I get to learn something from an actor I work with because when you are working on a set in a working atmosphere two actors should connect, two actors should be learning things from each other and I think Saif is one actor that I have really learnt a lot from. The way he is so spontaneous, the way he makes a shot appear so natural, he makes the dialogue so natural, It’s just unbelievable I have never seen an actor like that before. I absolutely love working with him and I hope to do many more movies with him. What was it like working Vishal-Shekhar Vishal Shekar this is the first time they have done something with me in a movie. I loved their music in Yash Raj’s earlier film Salaam Namaste I think it was great. I used to listen to the title track all the time. I think Vishal-Shekhar have this quality of adding a lot of youth to their songs. The youth of India really connect with their kind of music and I think with this film they have done a range from Dil Hara to Challiya to Falak which is also a very nice song which has me and Akshay in it. I think they have covered an entire spectrum and done a great job. The look in this film is most talked about ? Can you tell us something about your experience working with Aki Narula I am really excited about the look of this film. I Think words fall short to praise the kind of talent Aki has because I think as a designer he is one of the most talented designers we have. He gets into the skin of each and every character, he knows exactly what to give when and in which scene. I think he is just fantastic and what he is done for me in this movie is absolutely commendable he has just changed the entire look, it is something that has never been seen before. I think the whole idea of keeping it very grunge and rugged for me has really worked because I don’t think an Indian actress has really done that on screen before normally an Indian actress is always very particular about looking beautiful, looking really perfect and her hair being in place and not looking messy but in this film we have brought a lot of sexiness for the character through the clothes, make up and the hair. We have all worked together as a team to give me a unique look. I am really excited and I think Aki has done a phenomenal job, he’s going to win a lot of accolades for this film for sure. Is there any particular outfit in the film you would like to wear otherwise In my song Challiya there is a change of 10 costumes.I would like to wear each one of them even if I go out for a dinner or a party because it’s going to take on to the youth like anything. Aki has just put a lot of things together like shoes, accessories. I love Pooja’s signature outfit A white shirt with nice jeans and boots. I think I live in that always and I think that’s why I like those outfit’s the best. Did you have to take any special training for the film considering that it is an action film Before this film started I kind of knew that for this character to look different from what I have done before, I have to train really hard to kind of change the shape of my body which I wanted to do. A lot of actresses abroad they do that they work on one film at a time, change their look for a particular film body wise as well people loose weight, put on weight. For Tashan it was a conscious effort to change my body structure and work towards it because I wanted to look a bit lean because there is a lot of action in this movie and I think a lean girl doing action always looks much better so I trained really hard for about eight to nine months and was on a strict diet regime for this film but only for Tashan because that’s the only way this will look different from every film. Adi,Victor,Aki all of us sat together and thought that it would be great if I could loose weight and get into great shape and the response has been phenomenal. I am actually enjoying it I have got used to it. Can you tell us the experience working with Vijay Krishna Acharya? Victor is a fantastic writer the way he writes is unbelievable and I think to be a great director you need to be a great writer. The greatest of directors are fantastic writers. The way Victor has etched this film and written the dialogues and written everything and the entire screenplay is great it’s to the “T” he knows the pulse of the audience, the masses what gets them to the “T” he has a lovely quality in him also apart from making this huge commercial film that he’s made a huge quality of being very real he still wants his characters, his actors the ambience around him to be very real which I think is great about Victor, I love that because I think the more real it is the more you can connect with the audience so I love that quality in Victor and I think he gives his actors a lot of space ofcourse he tells them what he needs, what he wants and then he lets the actor flow and he is very open minded which I think is great and thinking that it was his first directorial venture is something that I could not believe. I have worked with a lot of directors but thinking that this is Victor’s first film you cannot believe it, he’s like a seasoned director he is one director to really watch out for. I would like to work with him again, I had the time of my life shooting this film besides being a wonderful director he is a wonderful human being and I hope this film is a huge blockbuster for Victor because he is really great. Can you tell us a bit about the shoot experience in Greece and Ladakh Shooting this film has been a marathon. It’s been tedious but great fun because the team has been so much fun we have been like a unit, a real family. We have traveled to Greece, ladakh, Jaisalmer,Kerala,Haridwar so its going to look like a really beautiful film because the spectrum is like all over from Ladak to Kerala to Greece which is really exciting. Greece was beautiful it was freezing cold, I have given a shot where they have put me in minus water which I think is the best shot in the film but let people see it. The water was really freezing but I did it for my work and for something that I really worked hard for.Ladakh was heavy terrain it was tough to shoot but like I said when you are working with a family when you are doing great scenes, saying some great lines, you are enjoying your work so much I think it’s great any kind of terrain is good besides which we all were like family doing some great work and spending some quality time in the evening. The oxygen level was low in Ladakh,so it was tough but still the dedication that Akshay, Saif and me had, we still use to train because that is the dedication that we had the love for our film Tashan that we had. We still would train under such circumstances and work out very day like insane so that’s the level of commitment we had because we just wanted to do it for this film. What is your Tashan quotient My Tashan lies in the way I am, my attitude towards life, towards work, towards people. I think Tashan basically means attitude for me that’s what it means. Any one memorable incident during the shoot of the film It’s tough to say because there have been so many memorable incidents that have taken place. Its a truly special film.Shooting in Ladak,Greece and Jaisalmer its been an experience that each of us have just cherished. Each day, each moment is unforgettable the kind of passion, dedication the kind of work that we have put in this film. We have shot a song called Dil Haara in Ladakh which we were shooting in this heavy terrain, we had to dance in a stony path Akshay me and Saif, I was wearing heels which were about 4 inches and I had to dance wearing this really short dress. I think the way we shot that song was the most memorable experience for me because the song was great, the moments were great and we enjoyed doing it so much. It was really tough but we laughed it off we had a great time shooting the song. How was your experience doing action To be honest I am not really the action sorts, I was really nervous because I don’t enjoy action as much as I enjoy dance or an emotional performance for me that’s what does it. I think the action director Peter Hinnes is just outstanding he is the best action choreographer we have in India. He is truly unbeatable the kind of precautions he took because we had really heavy action in the climax of our movie but the kind of precaution that he has taken we were literally mollycoddled as actors which I really owe it to him. I have done a lot of action and the safety measures were great. I enjoyed doing a sequence with Anilji it’s like a hose pipe sequence where he is putting water on me. It was an enthralling experience, really energizing took a lot out of us we were really drained by the end of it but according to me I enjoyed doing that and that’s the best action sequence I feel. You are doing a Yash Raj Film production after a while how different is it now I think it’s like coming back home. My sister has done Dil Tho Pagal Hai with them which is one of her greatest films and I use to always be there on the sets all the time, kind of watching and learning Yashji direct. We have been like a family it’s always been there because I have been like a literally filmy kid always on the sets so coming back home is what I literally felt. I think it’s the richest experience to be working with Yash Raj Films and to be working with Adi .I think it’s a heart warming experience because the kind of dedication they have and the entire production team has towards a film is heart warming. That’s why they make the greatest film in India because the work that goes in drives you to give your best I think it’s my richest experience ever and I hope to do many more films with Yash Raj Источник

Rulka: 22/04/08 What do you think about the music of Tashan I think it’s a great album, it’s got varied amount of music because I think our director is also like that. It’s a classic Hindi film in the sense that after a long time there is a film that covers a wide range of commercial kind of emotions. Its also very modern and contemporary in terms of there is a song like Dil Dance Maare which I think is a great song ,almost funny but at the same time quite hip. There is this really romantic number Falak which I think is a wonderful song there is also Dil Haara which is my song which I think is also very romantic, quite sufi and intense. Kareena’s solo song Challiya I think is also very cool, I love the lyrics so over all it’s a great album really nice and different What was it about this film that made you decide to do it Actually it’s quite funny, the first time I heard it Victor narrated it to me over one an a half hour in Adi Chopra’s study and I said no because I didn’t understand some parts, I am not very good with narrations, I would rather read a script so I was told to take the script home and read it and I loved it and I started laughing by head off at 2am in the morning at some of the dialogues because I just thought it was a very unpredictable movie, it’s a classic kind of a Hindi film story in a way but at the same time the treatment is so different with a lot of new technique but the basic plot is a classic revenge story but it doesn’t look like it because it starts of as a love story and moves into a road movie and then goes into a full on revenge drama so that was exciting and also very funny. It was the script in reading it that made me want to be a part of it. It’s definitely going to be the hottest film of the year. The look in the film is really appreciated can you tell me something about it I think it was the title Tashan which required everybody to have a little bit of Tashan like the red belt which my character wears through out the film, the kind of moustache that he has and the haircut everyone is a little off in the movie but at the same time like I said that’s the film everyone has a Tashan, everyone is a little bit off so this was the look.Aki Narula came up with some really nice clothes like Cargo’s and T-shirts and decided that I would never wear jeans, slightly an off kind of guy but without being wierd so there is this fine line which I think was very nicely handled. Can you tell us something about the character you play I am playing this guy called Jimmy by the way his name sounds that he is a bit of an odd character. He has had a strange sort of childhood where his father used to dress him up in white clothes like Jeetendra and make him dance publicly so as a result of that he is a little bit off, works in a call center, very romantic, lives alone and despite the fact that he is usually picking up chicks from the call center and he feels that normally the unintelligent kind of a woman that he attracts falls desperately in love with the Kareena Kapoor character and ends up with his life turning into utter hell which in the end actually turns out to be the best adventure he has ever been on and I think that’s what films are about to me and that’s what makes a film like Tashan extremely special because unlike a lot of hindi films, its about what we lack the most in our lives, which is adventure and that’s why we go to the movies to enter another world and to be carried away into this kind of a rollercoaster of getting shot at and being in lots of trouble, finding love and loosing it, money, gunfights. It was good fun How was your experience working with Vijay Krishna Acharya Victor is a great man, he is a loyal friend and he is an old school kind of a staunch gentleman in many ways but also when you look at him in his moustache he is a little off in terms of he is very keen on not being mundane so his film is also unpredictable and his brief to us as actors personally we got along very well, he makes me laugh from the bottom of my heart, its like therapeutic to sit with him because he really does we have a big laugh because neither of us take ourselves too seriously we share quite a unique bond I think, he understands me, expects the best from me and brings out the best also and I like to give it to him. I think of him as a bit of a mentor and I somehow confess all my sins to him the second I see him which is nice to trust him that way and as a director he would just usually tell me to surprise him and to not let it be expected kind of what the character Is going to do next even the lines that are coming out of the mouth should look like they are just happened and weren’t prepared for so that’s an interesting brief so he’s a cool guy and he’s made a very cool film. What according to you is your Tashan Factor I think as an actor I would like to think that I try and play things naturally and not really try and play hero but to try and play a character and let the situation decide whether he is heroic or not. and the Tashan of anything would be no matter how many times you are doing it, to make it look like its been done for the first time ever. That moment should be real I suppose that’s what Tashan is. My cowboy boots is my Tashan. Can you tell us something about your experience shooting for the song Dil Haara I have this tendency to go on a holiday during Christmas and New Year and since I work with Adi Chopra so often he knows this. Christmas and New year is a good time to eat and drink so one tends to put on a little bit of weight and Adi said he wants this song to be the item of the movie and he wants to shoot it in Greece and big and in his exact words “If you are going to party over New year’s and Christmas and come back looking like a Papa I will shoot the song in Bombay on some set and I will be very disappointed” so unfortunately I had to starve for the greater part of my trip to Hong Kong while I don’t think it is a six pack which is a bit much to expect but I will get there soon I tried, I did lose a fair amount of weight and I ended up looking good and they were happy because they are use to seeing me quite fat and they shot it at this beautiful Greek island called Milos, it’s a beautiful island which has underwater caves but ofcourse being a movie we ended up going there in the middle of winter and worked in freezing cold weather in the water so it was hellishly torturing in that sense. We had some great dancers, Aki Narula styled it really well, Shot fantastically well by Bose one of the most talented cameraman I have worked with and Viabhavi in fine form. I think everyone was quite happy at the end of it. Can you tell us something about your experience working with Vaibhavi Merchant Vaibhavi is great I have been watching her for a long time I have been working with her on and off for a while. I think one of her first film was with us, she use to assist Chinni Prakash at one point years ago. We have all been around. She is great and lots of fun to work with, and thoroughly professional and expects you to give your best and so does she and I think she is quite happy also with this song I think after a long time we have got something quite special together. How was the experience working in an action film with Peter Hinne I have a Tashan war wound which happened to me while kicking a can in the middle of an action sequence with Peter who I love. On the set he just gets one into the mood to do great stuff. I would love to work with him again. The action in the film is much larger than life, it’s like comic book action, its bigger its not just a few gunshots its like thousand bullets going off and cars skidding on fire using cables, its great fun, very exhausting and everyone getting banged up and hurt everyday which is what it is about. I love action films, love watching them, love working in them. Haven’t worked with Akshay Kumar in a while but there is bound to be a bit of action unless we do one of those slightly romantic films together which I am happy we didn’t do. Any one memorable incident during the shoot of the film I had rented an Enfield in Ladak I use to ride it to work everyday .It was one of the most exhilarating and liberating experiences of my life. It’s a very beautiful countryside up there so some good music on the headphones and riding the bike was fantastic. It was a great one month schedule. You are sporting a moustache for the first time? What was it like and would you like to have one? I think I would, i enjoyed the moustache, I was a little uncomfortable with it initially I thought it looked funny but then I grew into it quite well and I have seen a lot of people now with a similar kind of a moustache, that goti its fun. I would like to keep a heavy stubble and longer hair What is it like working in a multi starrer film as opposed to a solo film You get to get a little bit worked up about what the other person is doing which is always exciting. I always enjoyed a multi starrer when I was a kid. I think if you are confident what your role is it doesn’t really matter infact sometimes it’s a bit more fun to work off other peoples energies, I think Akshay and I have a tremendous complimentary sort of quality with each other because we come from different worlds on films so it’s interesting when you put us together, it always has been with different body types, with different screen presences we work very well off each other its like Terrance Hill and Bud Spencer kinds one shorter guy and one taller kind, so its an interesting pad.I like to work in films that I like to watch so it really does not make a difference. What the experience working with Anil Kapoor Anil Kapoor is not only one of the most talented actors I have ever worked with he is also one of the least selfish and most giving I think he is at a point in his career where he is sharing so much of wisdom and he is so positive. He is one of the most positive people I know and he considers working in films a privilege, which it is. He feels that if you are working in like 80 degrees heat and you have to wear a suit he say’s don’t think about it you are lucky you have got the job and it’s great. He is super to work with and you learn a lot from him. He is very professional. What the experience working with Akshay Kumar Akshay Kumar has become one of the best actors when I worked with him first he use to say that you do the acting and I will do the action but now I think he is doing both almost better then anyone else. A remarkable sense of comedy and acting, I haven’t worked with him in a while and I really enjoyed it this time and I am dying to see what It looks like. It’s always great and we compete quite seriously with each other, which is really good.He makes up things sometimes that is not in the script even so it drives me mad and then I would make up things that is not in the script and then eventually we get a good scene or we just start doing shit and the director says what’s going on but its always fun. What the experience working with Kareena Kapoor Working with Kareena it’s the first time after LOC. It was great she is really good, very easy to work with, and very spontaneous she kind of moulds herself to whichever actor she is working with I think I have noticed. If you want to rehearse she rehearses if you don’t then that’s fine too. источник

Rulka: 24/04/08 There are all kinds of myths around the subject of Sarkar Raj. What is the film all about? It is not a sequel in the sense that it does not start from where Sarkar had ended. I would say it is a new adventure of Sarkar as all the issues that the family had were over in Sarkar, and Sarkar Raj is about how the family deals with a new set of problem. Any person who is a political head and deals with problems related to common man and is powerful has many incidents in his life. However, the film has got nothing to do with the Narmada Bachao Andolan or the issue of Enron Power Company just because the film has some resemblance to the power project. Isn't the character of Sarkar inspired by Bal Thackray? In a city like Mumbai someone who has influence and control is a reality check for Sarkar. But the film is not his (Bal Thackeray's) personal story or not related to his family. But even I am saying that the character is influenced by Bal Thackray. Ram Gopal Varma Is it true that Aishwarya's character is similar to Rebecca Mark? I don't even know and I have no clue. Was she anywhere connected to the Enron issue? I am sorry about being completely ignorant, but all I can say is that Aishwarya' character is completely fictional. It is said that this will be your comeback film… I think Sarkar Raj will be a comeback film for the audience and not me. I mean to say that the audience will comeback to see my film (Laughs). Apparently you were very arrogant when you made Aag. Comment. I don't know why people said that Aag was made with a lot of carelessness. I have never done any film with more sincerity than Aag. Yes the very fact that I am remaking Sholay is being arrogant. Arrogance is about one-upmanship and I did it because I thought I could better it. Unfortunately I went in the wrong direction. Where did you go wrong? So many things. When I started off, I was told by my lawyers that I couldn't do that due to the problem created by the Sippys. I had to constantly change my script and by the time I reached the end of the film, I had lost my plot. I didn't even know what I had made but since people around me said that everything was fine, I took it for granted. So you know exactly when went wrong? When you realise that you have made something which didn't work, there are ten thousand explanations why it didn't work. Honestly in my heart I know what went wrong. It has happened to me earlier when I made Drohi, I corrected my mistake with Satya. The same thing happened when Raat didn't work, I made Bhoot. Does it mean you will make Sholay again… Of course, I will make it again. Sholay will definitely happen again. Ramesh Sippy must be very happy… I met him exactly one week after the release of Aag at Manmohan Shetty's house and he was ecstatic. I have made Sholay 30 years after he made the blockbuster but I made a disaster of it. I want him to make the film and again and I will make it again and want it to be released on the same day, and see what happens! He needs to have the courage to make it again and if he doesn't make it, I will still make it. There were reports that the Bachchans were not very happy with Aag… Jayaji was against the idea of making the film from day one. Even Amitabh Bachchan felt that the film would not work but he just did it because he trusted me as a director. I think they were anticipating it. But did you anticipate such a big controversy over the failure of Aag? I did anticipate it. It would have been easy if it was any other film with such a huge cast but since we had a reference point of Sholay, it was so huge. Then the title was so frivolous and I myself gave so much reason for everyone to ridicule me. I am glad that if not the film, the after effects of the film provided entertainment to people. People wrote you off completely as a filmmaker… It is okay. I believe that everybody is a bitch and that includes me. If I would not have made the film then I would also have made fun of it. I can only say that now I have to prove a point to myself and nothing else matters. You didn't react at that point of time… I was on to my second film Contract just 20 days after the release and I was shooting so had no time to react. Is that the reason why you went to your pet subject… a film on the underworld.. I have done every kind of film in my career - romance, underworld, suspense, horror and remakes. At the and of the day there are only 7-8 genres and I only go by the subject. What is new in Contract that you have not done so far? The number of shootouts by the underworld in 1998 was over 125 and in 2005 it is hardly 5, which mans that the focus of underworld is somewhere else. It has become much more dangerous than you can imagine. There is terrorism hand-in-glove with the underworld, and that's what Contract is all about. You have also picked up your shelved project Veerepan… We had shelved Veerepan and the title was Let's Catch Veerepan, which was based on an incident and then he was dead. So, we dropped it. Now we have changed it and made it more like a biopic with all newcomers. There was news that you had not even paid your driver… My driver has bought four new cars after he left me. Guess that answers your questions. (Laughs) So, Ramu is back with his factory… Factory is back and I am there's so much happening. I am a dog's tail which will never be straight. источник

Rulka: 24/04/08 SRK believes the IPL matches won't affect his new show that premieres tomorrow night on Star Plus On the eve of yet another of his small screen outings, Shah Rukh Khan speaks about his new show, Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hai?... The opening of Paanchvi Pass clashes with the IPL matches. Aren’t you worried about the TRPs being low, since the matches have been huge hits? No. I don’t want to be pompous but people will watch Shah Rukh Khan. To be honest, I’d rather watch Paanchvi Pass. Why? What’s so special about it? It’s an awesome concept. There is no stopping Paanchvi Paas. I never make claims like these. It’s really endearing, witty and sweet. It’s a quiz show of class one to class five. If I sit down with you for two minutes and start playing it, I’m sure you’ll end up playing for at least half an hour. How many legs does a butterfly have? Answer that for Rs 5 lakh. Then I’ll you other simple questions like who started the Gregorian calendar and which is the planet closest to Earth? If I tell you the answers, you’ll say, “Arre, I knew the answer to this yaar.” It’s an amazing show that you can sit with kids and watch. What aspects of it are you particularly charmed by? The lifelines. Like we had a phone-a-friend in KBC. I am the school teacher, and in my classroom, there are five kids, whose help the contestants can take. I ask a question and you can use three helplines — just like in KBC. The helpline is: You ask the kids, “Can I cheat from you, please?” We’ve had contestants who are MBBS students, IIM graduates and gold medallists. And then we ask them this class one question. It is so simple and they know the answers but there are no multiple choices so they ask these nine-year-olds, “Milindji, Siddharthji, please maano yaar, ae answer bataoge?” And as the teacher, I say, “Okay, you can cheat now.” The beauty of it is that this cheat can go right or wrong. Kids can give a wrong answer too. Like in KBC, you phone a friend, and he or she doesn’t necessarily know the answer. Are the kids going to be the same on all the shows? Yes, these five kids have been signed on for one season you cannot keep training new kids. Was it a deliberate move to not do KBC anymore, and opt for this show instead? Yes. You know, both my films fell through Robot and the Rajkumar Hirani film, and I had free time on hand. So I called the channel and said, “Let’s shoot KBC,” as I was under contract to do one more season with them. Then, I saw Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader? while in America and I asked them: why don’t we do this instead? And luckily, we found someone in India Airtel who had the rights. So everything fell into place and it just required us to work a little harder for a month before it was all set. You seem to be enjoying this show more than KBC. To be very honest, this is more up my alley. I’ve actually exhausted all the quips and jokes I’ve done on KBC. Had this show been done with me first, it would’ve been even more original. When is your son Aryan coming on the show? Aryan has just gone to the fifth grade. He’s right for the show but you have to be already in it to come on it. The kids have been chosen from all over India but till the time we selected them, Aryan and his friends used to play with me. I did a lot more rehearsals for this than I did for KBC.

Rulka: 25/04/08 Competing with Akshay Kumar, covering up the Kareena tattoo, cold war with Rani Mukerji and all those shaadi rumours—Saif Ali Khan comes clean How was the experience of running in the Olympic torch relay? It was a huge honour but sadly it turned out to be more of a controversy. There were too many bad vibes associated with the whole thing and to be honest, I didn’t enjoy it very much. Whenever there is too much negativity, the joy of doing a thing goes away. There was hardly any crowd and nobody to cheer us along. It turned out to be a bit of a bummer. In hindsight, I think maybe I shouldn’t have gone. But I also stand by the basic thought that sports and politics shouldn’t be mixed. I’m totally against the oppression of Tibet and when the Dalai Lama himself has said he has no issues with the Olympics being held in China, why are these things happening? We have problems with Pakistan over Kashmir, but that does not stop us from playing cricket with them. Sports is meant to be enjoyed and not to be politicised. The year has started on a positive note with Race. What’s the best compliment that you have got for the film? Lots of people have said that I looked hot in the film and that I underplayed the character, but that’s all background noise. The biggest compliment is the box office figures. How did your kids, Sara and Ibrahim, like Race? Sara was pleasantly surprised. She was expecting something tacky and eventually found it to be slick. Ibrahim loved it. What’s all this talk of you overtaking Shah Rukh Khan in the endorsement race? Come on, you know this is just a part of all the PR vibe that’s going on in the industry. Someone somewhere must have said that I have 12 endorsements and SRK has 14. Sometimes people talk rubbish. SRK is a great businessman and a huge superstar. I don’t compare myself to him. My comparison is only with myself. Maybe at this point of time, I seem to be a good choice for brand endorsements. You’re paired with Akshay Kumar after almost 10 years in Tashan, how is that going? It’s been great. I think both Akshay and I are acting better than we did back then. We’re definitely looking better, or at least I’m looking much better. (Laughs) We also have better haircuts now. Akshay is a very competitive actor and my feelings for him oscillate between really liking him and getting frustrated by his last-minute improvisations on the sets. Sometimes I want to kill him since he really annoys me. But he’s great to work with. In many ways, Akshay has been like a big brother to me. We’ve shared a lot over the years and there is genuine respect between us. So why did you reject Garam Masala opposite him? I don’t know why I refused that film. Actually I don’t even remember being offered that film. It was recently reported that you and Kareena will be tying the knot after Tashan. True? Totally false. We’re concentrating on our individual careers right now . It’s hard enough to get a weekend together. Whenever I get married it will be to Kareena and everybody will know. Glossies are terming Kareena and you as the desi Brangelina or Saifeena, which one do you prefer? I don’t like either. Both sound silly (I agree). I don’t understand what the need for all this is. Just call us Saif and Kareena, thank you very much. Tell me won’t the Kareena tattoo pose continuity problems during film shoots? See, I’ve to be careful while shooting but it’s easily done. With the help of technology the tattoo can be easily hidden. It takes me just over a minute to cover it. So what’s happening with your production house, Illuminati Films? Well, we’re rolling our first project on June 1. It’s directed by Imtiaz Ali and stars Deepika Padukone and me. My banner is going to be associated with really cool movies. And my definition of cool movies includes films like Omkara, Salaam Namaste, Hum Tum, Parineeta, Dil Chahta Hai, Being Cyrus and Ek Hasina Thi. As a producer, will you hard-sell your film? I don’t know. I might go all out to promote it because at the end of the day, visibility is very important. Also, when a team aggressively promotes a film, it means that they believe in it. So when do we see you and Kareena doing a film for your banner? For that someone has to give us a good script. I’m very keen for the both of us to work together but we haven’t come across a good script. Why don’t you think of an idea and tell someone to develop it? (Laughs) In the last 50-odd films that I’ve done till date, I haven’t come up with any idea. But I’d like to try and think of something now that I have a production house. See, the basic problem is that there are very few films that have good roles for women. And you and Kareena would want equal roles? Or probably unequal roles. I think Kareena would want to have a better role than me. (Laughs) Any recent film you wish you had been a part of? Don. When I saw that film I told myself, “Hmm, I could’ve done that.” Like Kareena, will you be launching your own fashion label? God knows. I’ve been thinking that maybe I should design some jeans. Maybe I’ll do it. Finally, is it true that you and Rani Mukerji have a cold war brewing? It’s bulls**t. Both of us are moody. Someone might have seen us frowning on the sets and started this rumour. I have the highest regard for Rani. We make a great pair on screen and I enjoy working with her. Yes, we don’t hang out together but that doesn’t mean that we don’t like each other. источник

Rulka: 06/05/08 After an inspiring act in Mani Ratnam’s Guru , Mithun Chakraborty is ready with his next release under the banner of Shakti Samanta named Don Muthuswami . Like his earlier award-winning film Agneepath , Mithun is playing the character of a South Indian Don in this film. Mithun, who has already worked in around 7 films with the Shakti Samanta's banner, is working for the first time with son Ashim Samanta at the helm. In conversation... What is your role in Don Muthuswami? I am playing a South Indian don. In a way it is the extension of my character in Agneepath but still is very different in characterization. My father, on his deathbed, tells me to leave my don-giri and turn a decent honest man. I promise him and thus begins my journey to become a straight man from Don Muthuswami to Sir Muthuswami. I hire teachers to teach me proper language, get suits stitched to look an educated and smart businessman and in turn everything becomes hilarious. Do you have scope for dance in this film? We heard that you were busy teaching others the right dance steps? (Laughs), Yes there is dance but not the disco kind. It's a nice wedding dance where we all move to music. And I did teach others a step or two. But this film is not about dancing. Any one liners in the film that will catch the viewer's fancy? Yes, we have the line 'turn re'. After I give up the don-giri and if I get angry with any of my henchmen, I would say 'Turn re' and once they turn I would give them a kick on their rear. Do you think that you are a better dancer then Mimoh? Mimoh will beat me hollow in dancing today. He is 25% better than me but in acting he will take another 6-7 years to catch up with me. He has to prove his own worth and compete like anybody else. Then he also has to respect everybody in the industry and not look down at anyone at all. That will help him to grow faster as an actor and as a person too. You have worked with Shakti Samanta earlier and now in this film his son Ashim Samanta is directing you. What was the difference? With Shakti da it was all very quiet and serious. I would go on the sets and do my scene. Couldn't crack jokes because he is too senior. But with Ashim, it was fun. We had great time shooting for this film and believe me, Ashim is very talented technician with a very clear vision. What prompted you to accept this role? I do films that appeal to me and I found my character and story very interesting. I am so happy that today there are films and stories that are written keeping artists like us in mind. Ten years back films were made only for young men and women. That is a welcome change because it gives greater scope for good cinema. I am enjoying my stint in the films. I don't have any fixed image to cater to. I play to the gallery. Do you think that we are closer to Hollywood now? We are at par with Hollywood as far as stories or technicalities are concerned but we have got trapped in the multiplex system. We have to make films for all the viewers and a very large number is watching films in single screens and in smaller towns. Multiplex brings in the money but single screens sustain us in longer run. Are you worried that your film is releasing just after your son Mimoh's film Jimmy? As a father I am worried about him, whether his film releases with me or with anybody else. Otherwise, it doesn't worry me a bit because he is a strong person and we both are good. Then we have a very wide audience. Will your other children make an entry in the films? My second son is training for direction. My daughter is too small and my third son has yet to make a decision. What is your take on the reality shows? I am anchoring one for Zee Bangla and it is a hugely popular show. People watch it with families. It all depends on how you format the show and how the anchors handle it. It has to have fun but it should not be bad in taste. Looks like you are fond of playing the character of Don? You are playing Don is another film? Yes I am playing Don in C-Company also. But it's a very funny role and this Don is a TV fanatic. My name is Dattu Satellite and I carry one satellite Dish in my hand all the time to watch TV whenever possible. This Don character is very unique. Don Muthuswami is a hard core underworld don who is trying to reform under his father's pressure. You act, you have hotels and you are anchoring shows. How do you manage? Well it’s easy. Divide the days properly. For 25 days I act and 5 days a month I am in Ooty to look after my other businesses. Any Films with Mimoh? Let him prove himself first. источник

Rulka: Its four in the afternoon and Shah Rukh Khan is on the sets of Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? The clock is running. The audiences are in their seats and minutes before “Action,” SRK is playing basketball with the five kids from the show. Siddharth Basu walks in, with some last- minute instructions for the bacchas, who listen intently. Shortly after, the group takes their places under the lights. An hour later, they break shoot and we head to SRK’s make-up room. He tucks into his dabba from home. In between morsels of lunch (at 5 in the evening) he talks about his show, its low ratings, Amitabh Bachchan’s digs and more. Read on. Do you miss KBC? I don’t get emotionally attached to my work. I do it to the best of my capability and then, I move on. I am not into nostalgia. You seem to be enjoying Paanchvi Pass more... Yes, I am. I like this format. KBC was too restrictive. After a while, it was taxing to make it entertaining. Paanchvi Pass is fun but we don’t shoot more than two episodes a day because the kids get tired. Internationally, Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader was much bigger than Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. You already have your first millionaire on the show! Yes, a lady has won a crore on the show. Two other guys reached that amount but walked away with 50 lakh. The questions are hard, no? You and I may find it hard but the kids know the answers. I get about 60 per cent of the answers on the show right but when I go home and ask the questions to my son Aryan, he gets 80 per cent of them right. And there is a reference point, you know where the questions are coming from — class one to class five, so one can prepare oneself. Amitabh has commented on the low ratings of Paanchvi Pass. Comment. Yes, I heard about the blog and later, I read it. Mr Bachchan is a huge superstar and normally he is quite reticent and you don’t get to know the views of such people. It’s nice that he’s blogging now and one gets to know his thoughts and his views on one’s work. But I did not understand the graph on his blog. I don’t understand graphs. I don’t think most people do. I don’t understand TAM, FAM and MAM. I don’t keep track of these technical things. Have you ever thought of blogging? No, for three reasons. One, when I type, I do so in caps and on the net, that’s like screaming. Two, because when I write, I write very long copy. And three, I am a very busy man, I don’t have time to write long blogs… also, my colleagues say that they blog because the media writes a lot of things and they want to put their version out there. So, in short, you end up doing the journalist’s job. In my mind, it’s very clear I am an actor and not a reporter, so I will do my job, and I will let them do theirs. If they write something that’s wrong, I’ll abuse that person and say they got their facts wrong. If they get it right, then I’ll say ‘great, they represented the facts well’. Your reaction to comparisons between KBC and PP? I don’t know why comparisons should be drawn between my shows and shows done by other stars. I don’t compare myself to others’ shows. I will compare my ratings to the ratings of my last show. And if Paanchvi Pass has not done well, I accept responsibility. I’ll take 60 per cent of the blame. If I take credit for the success of my films and my shows, I also accept the brickbats when things go wrong. I don’t need anyone to tell me that my show is not doing well. I am well aware of the facts. Any theories on why Paanchvi Pass hasn’t got the desired TRPs? Yes. I don’t think that it’s possible to get the ratings that the first KBC got, or even what the popular saas-bahu soaps were getting at one time. Firstly, because at the time, there weren’t so many channels. Secondly, the IPL has bitten into a large chunk of the audiences. The other day, I saw Gauri’s mom watching the match with some of her friends, and I thought, ‘That’s sweet, they are watching it because Kolkata is playing.’ But after a few days, I saw them watching the match again, they had all gathered specifically to see the match and my team wasn’t even playing. And these are not the usual cricket fans. Even Gauri is now going to see all our matches, even the ones that I cannot go to because of my other commitments. Before this, she used to hate cricket and she would never even watch a match at home. The T20 format has clicked. It’s no longer just a game, it has become a social event. Your thoughts on barbs about low TRPs? If someone says that my show is a flop, I will work harder. If someone says my show is a hit, I will still work harder, so it doesn’t matter what anyone says. I will continue to work like I always do. And finally, do you think the ratings of Paanchvi Pass will pick up after IPL ends? Absolutely. It will pick up for sure. I will take a break shortly and then come back from my holiday and shoot more episodes. Things will have changed by then. If not, we will work harder and ensure they do.

Rulka: 19/05/08 Her real and reel life so far is what fairytales are made of. She is the daughter of India’s most iconic badminton player, she wowed the modelling world with her understated beauty and poise, and she romanced none other than Shahrukh Khan in her silver screen debut. After winning awards and accolades for her twin roles in 2007’s biggest blockbuster, Om Shanti Om, Deepika plans to set celluloid ablaze with a comedy for Yash Raj and an action flick opposite Akshay Kumar. And oh yes, she has the suave Ranbir Kapoor as her boyfriend. Yet, amidst the hype, Deepika is calm, unfazed… Being Deepika Padukone at 22... How’s life? I’m enjoying myself thoroughly. Never in my wildest dreams did I anticipate all this coming my way so early in life but, honestly, I always wanted this and I’ve finally got it. I wanted to make a name for myself as a famous model but films were never on my mind. I loved Hindi film music but you’d be surprised to know that we only watched only four or five of the biggest Hindi hits a year. And now you’ll play the leading lady in out-and-out commercial Hindi films! (laughs) Yes, it’s ironic! We were always a sports-inclined family, my father (Prakash Padukone) being an ace badminton player of his time. Even today, my folks don’t know much about Bollywood cinema and its stars. Yet they supported your career decisions? Absolutely. My father always knew he wanted to be a sportsman. In those days, badminton wasn’t the most tried and tested career option and people had reservations about the sport. But my grandfather never opposed my father’s rather unconventional choice. My parents too always encouraged my sister and me to follow our hearts. When I told them that I wanted to model, they were as supportive of my decision as they are of my career in showbiz. Do they advise you on films to sign or avoid? No they don’t. Since they are not ardent Hindi film fans, they’ve left that to me. But they do take keen interest in what I do and I always keep them abreast of not just my work, but my personal life too. I’m in touch with them daily. They also look after my finances entirely. You’re evidently quite close to your folks. What kind of a rapport do you share with them? An ideal relationship. Neither too formal nor too casual. I know what liberties to take with them and where to draw the line. Did you ever dream of being launched in a Farah Khan film romancing SRK in your Bollywood debut? Not in my wildest dreams! I feel truly blessed and flattered that the industry has received me so well. Farah and Shahrukh are two people I can depend on for the rest of my life. They both are extremely close to my heart. Could you foresee the unimaginable commercial success of Om Shanti Om? No, not at all! We all knew it would do well at the box office, but we never thought it would be the year’s biggest grosser. While shooting, we had our concerns and fears but they were wished away when the film was so well received. The time and energy we’d dedicated paid off. Shahrukh feels he was being dishonest as an actor while professing his love for you during a scene in OSO because you were eight when you saw Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge! (laughs heartily) What can I say? It’s true. I was eight when I saw DDLJ. When I’m asked about my favourite actors, I name the stars I’ve grown up watching. And I belong to a generation which has grown up watching Shahrukh and Madhuri on screen! So with all due respect to senior actors who have done some amazing work, I can only relate to the films I’ve grown up watching and most of them include Shahrukh! (laughs) Did the age gap make you feel awkward when romancing Shahrukh onscreen? Not really! That’s what acting is all about. All about conviction. Moreover, who wouldn’t want to romance Shahrukh Khan? He’s such an incredible co-star. Supremely confident, profusely talented, so charismatic... He has this innate ability to make his co-stars feel good about themselves. His confidence just rubs off on everyone who works with him. Was Farah—who’s known to be quite irreverent and outspoken—a tough taskmaster? Not at all! She’s one of most easygoing people to work with. And it’s fantastic that’s she’s outspoken. At least, everyone knows what’s going on in her mind. She was the first director I interacted with as she approached me for OSO. She wanted to take my career forward from a model to an actor. With implicit faith, she signed me on without a single screen test and that boosted my confidence. What was going through your mind when you shot your first scene with Shahrukh? Yes, it was the confrontation scene with Arjun Rampal with Shahrukh evesdropping... He was extremely supportive, lending suggestions but never imposing his views. (pauses) There’s so much to say about Shahrukh that I don’t know where to begin. I don’t want to go on and on because in my heart of hearts, I know it’s NOT my first and last time with him! I’m sure there’ll be many more movies where we’ll be paired. You took some acting, dance and diction lessons before you started shooting for OSO, right? Yes, the dance lessons were vital to shoot the elaborate dance sequences. I also sought diction classes to perfect my Hindi pronunciation. And when I was signed on for OSO, I enrolled myself in Anupam Kher’s acting institute for three months. That made a big difference. The course helped me build a decent knowledge base on world cinema, not just Indian cinema. Bollywood is known for its backstabbing, lobbying, deception... What lessons have you learnt in your year here? Honestly, I don’t think there’s that much negativity. I’ve interacted with some really wonderful people. Everyone’s so warm and welcoming that talk of deception seems alien to me. It’s a small world where everyone knows everyone and most people I’ve met are wonderful. But in a small world, news travels fast. Isn’t that a problem? I don’t understand. In what way? Gossip has more to do with the media than the industry. So many baseless mediacreated reports surface daily. But I’m here to do some great work and be part of fantastic cinema. Beyond work, it does not matter what people say! How do you stay calm despite all the hype and hysteria? (laughs heartily) Thank you. I take that as a compliment. That’s how I am, have always been. And because I am the way I am, I come across as boring to some, snobbish to some and arrogant to others! (laughs) Not even a year old in the industry, and you’ve had your share of link-ups. Does the speculation bother you? It doesn’t affect me. Deep down, when I know the reports are false and baseless, there’s no reason for me to react or retaliate. But when my parents were new to the ways of the industry, it would bother them. But no more! Now they understand how the media functions and know that not everything that's reported is true. You sound like a yogini. How do you stay unfazed? I have inherited my father’s attitude. He told me when someone praises you, take it in your stride, accept it graciously, rejoice in it for a few days and move on. And when someone criticises you, hear him out, ponder over it, act constructively and move on. So, my approach to accolades and criticism is more or less the same. I don’t take either too seriously! What’s it like filming for Nikhil Advani’s Chandni Chowk to China in Bangkok with Akshay Kumar? I can’t say much about the film at this point. It’s being co-produced by Warner Bros. It’s a hardcore action film starring the ultimate action hero, Akshay. I feel extremely lucky to have done my first romantic film with Shahrukh and my first action film with Akshay. I took action lessons from international stunt directors for two months before shooting. How is Akshay as a co-star? Wonderful. And again one of those stars I’ve grown up watching! He possesses tremendous energy and incredible acting prowess. He’s definitely one of India’s best action heroes. I’ve learnt a lot from him. Next up for you: Yash Raj’s Bachna Ae Haseeno opposite Ranbir Kapoor. The experience has been... …absolutely great. Technically, it’s the first film I’ve shot outside India. It’s a terrific script with a terrific cast. Siddharth Anand, the director, is very easygoing. The entire team is young, vibrant, energetic. That almost makes me sound like a veteran who’s done it all! (laughs heartily) But I had a fab time shooting for it On falling in love with Ranbir during the filming of Bachna Ae Haseeno… “We went on a harmless date way before OSO and Saawariya released. As we were both busy with our debuts, we hardly had time to spend with each other. But the media made it seem like we were in a serious relationship and then they even wrote about our split! (laughs) They even said that Sanjay Leela Bansali was livid with Ranbir because he was seeing me and requested him to break off our relationship. Also that Farah wanted me to concentrate on the film! It was all bizarre and baseless. But while shooting for Bachna Ae Haseeno, we got to spend a lot of time together, get to know each other better and, yes, we confessed our feelings once the film was complete.” On what Ranbir has brought into her life... “A lot of happiness and stability. I trust him completely. I can discuss anything and everything with him. I’ve found a great companion in him. He is truly the happiness of my life!” On getting along so well with Ranbir’s parents, Rishi and Neetu Kapoor... “I must admit I was slightly nervous when I first met them! But Ranbir made the entire process a lot simpler for all of us. His parents are among most loving, most caring, most wonderful people I’ve ever met. I love to spend time with them. In fact, when I get time off and am in town, I make it to point to be with them.” On whether Ranbir and she are contemplating marriage... “Ah, I see you have honourable intentions for us! But we still don’t know. We are extremely happy together. We are enjoying a wonderful relationship. We are well settled in it. But it’s too early to think of marriage. Let’s see what the future holds...” On her alleged link-up with Mahendra S Dhoni… “Absolutely nothing transpired between Dhoni and me. The media quizzed him on his fave actress, he happened to name me and the media totally jumped the gun. Next thing I knew, I was in a full-fledged relationship with the man! I found the episode completely bizarre. Especially when I’d said that the day I found the right man, I’d announce it. Which is exactly what I did by making my relationship with Ranbir official.” And on her relationship with Yuvraj Singh… “Yuvraj and I met a couple of times and were in the process of getting to know each other better when the media jumped to crazy conclusions. It insinuated that we’d got engaged and were all set to get married. Even wedding dates were printed. It was all so ridiculously insane!” On Yuvraj’s mother stating: “Deepika is a nice girl but she shouldn’t have done what she did to Yuvi…” “The day that story was carried, Yuvraj’s mother personally called me up to clarify that she’d been misquoted, that she never made any such statement about me. I know she’s quite fond of me and I’m extremely fond of her. If there were any awkwardness between us, she wouldn’t have called to clarify her stance. She’s a wonderful woman and I respect and admire her. I have learnt a lot from her.” источник

wichy: отсюда - свежее интервью с Карашей • You turn 36 on May 25. Must I be reminded of that? I can’t believe I’m inching towards 40. • But life begins at 40, doesn't it? That’s the biggest lie said by people who can’t accept that they are growing old. I’m older, and hopefully wiser. • Has the film industry made you wiser? It has toughened me for sure. I only pray that I'm not making the wrong decisions. • You seem to be making all the right moves. Right now, I want to expand my production house. • Were you pompous as a child? In fact, I had a huge complex because of my weight. Today, I’m so gregarious because I have overcome all my insecurities. I feel good about interacting with people. I can’t let my life be like an open book as there are chapters I don’t want anyone to read. I have many secrets. • You go all out for Shah Rukh Khan. Recently, you came back all the way from Miami to attend his first IPL match and postponed your own film to accommodate Aditya Chopra's film with SRK. Yes. But isn't that a given in any friendship? Shah Rukh is like family for me. I'm quite petrified of Shah Rukh and he knows it. He is not my backslapping buddy. His wife Gauri is the one who is more of a friend. She's the one I can say, ‘Oh, Shut up!’ to but even in my wildest dreams, I can't imagine telling SRK to shut up. • But, will SRK do as much for you as you do for him? I want to reach a point where I don't expect anything in return. I have full faith in my relationships and believe that they will never disappoint me. • So, you want to be Mr Congeniality? I used to be like that in school. I had this craving to be loved, maybe because I was the only child. Today, I've made up for those lonely years with rock-solid relationships. I have no shortage of 4 am friends. • But, don't you miss that one special person to share your life with? Last year when I spoke about this, Farah Khan made fun of me. Yes, I'm lonely and single but I'm looking for love. I'm waiting for love to happen to me this year. I know I'll find the right person very soon. • You're looking out both for love and a new home? Well…my mom wants both. She first wants a house with a sea-view. • Is Khan about the Muslim identity and the isolation of the mainstream Muslim? I'm just making a film. I'm not doing it to be radically different. It's a film full of emotions with a bit of my unusual style. But isn't it time I started getting out of the safe zone at 36? • So, this is a mature Karan Johar speaking? I don't know if it's maturity or plain common sense. All I know is that while shooting an item song for Kabhi Alvidaa Na Kehna I was so f*****g bored! My choreographer Farah and I felt I had become mechanical. I needed a change. • So, no more formula-based films from you? My Name Is Khan is an exciting project. For the first time, I'm directing a film that has characters and situations I'm not familiar with. I think I'm the wrong man to direct this film. • So who do think should be directing My Name Is Khan? Mani Ratnam, Rakeysh Mehra or Raju Hirani but certainly not me. But, I'm hundred per cent sure I can pull it off. • Can you ever make a film without Shah Rukh Khan? I wouldn't like to think about it. Of course it can happen. One can never predict where life will take us...

Soniya: wichy : I'm the wrong man to direct this film wichy : Mani Ratnam, Rakeysh Mehra or Raju Hirani but certainly not me Jesus f*****g Christ!!!!!

Soniya: wichy :

Soniya: wichy :
